Friends,
The appearance of a dragon in your fair town should be cause for concern but not alarm. The Redbrands stand ready to protect Phandalin from danger. However, this new threat brings with it increased expenses. Let this stand as notice, one tenday from now, representatives of our Organization will visit each property to collect a new Dragon Defense Assessment. This will be 10gp for all homesteaders and 50gp for all business owners. Have the payment ready at the appointed time.

Keashirryl follows the kobold outside, surprising even herself with this sudden willingness to cooperate. Nevertheless, she keeps close, in fear of losing sight of him - it seems like he is one to disappear quite easily.
She makes a mild frown when hearing the words about the notice.“It certainly does sound familiar from the inn, and if we can believe the locals, is morally questionable.” she nods, crossing her arms in front of her chest.
She looks at the figures walking down the street, thinking for a moment. She tries to assess their equipment, if they seem to be well prepared - especially trying to see if they need the extra gold they are requiring from the locals. “I have nothing against carefully posing some questions to these individuals, but it would not be wise for me to ask them. Just keep in mind that they practically own this town at the moment - we do not want to make them our enemies just yet.”
While waiting for the others to express their opinions or take action, she turns to the kobold.“I believe we haven’t been introduced yet, and it appears to be something we can’t avoid much longer if we are going to work on this. I’m Keashirryl.”
Olan's brow furrows in evident anger, and the mist around him darkens slightly. "Having extensive experience of my own, I can tell you one thing - running a business these days is as demanding a lifestyle as any, let alone running a business with the shadow of a crippling tax looming over you. I share your stance, Mud... " he tuts, and then adds under his breath "...violence is looking more and more justified."
Mud looks the tiefling woman up and down, his dull brown eyes having a look that shows off experience in some way or another, as if he had witnesses a war already.. "Mud, decent to meet you, Keashirryl. I agree with your caution, we shouldn't draw to much attention to ourselves just yet, in fact, I believe we should make ourselves appear as friends to them. May I question why you can't ask them anything?"

As Droknin awaits outside, he looks around and notices the three humans placing the notices on each building as they move along. He was going to comment how funny they looked for wearing such odd colored cloaks, then he hears Mud requesting everyone's attention. The Kobold was so small, that Droknin decided to crouch down, and he found himself resting his front paws on the ground to be more eye level with Mud. He found it amusing, for he remembers he would do that more often when he was younger. "You have my attention Little Rabbit." While he listened to Mud speak, his tail would go from side to side. He liked the "Dragon Defense Assessment" part, some fancy words for him, that he missed the rest of the message, namely the most important part. When Keashirryl comes out, he keeps his gaze on Mud, so he doesn't have to look at the devil lady. He was trying to listen to her, but at the same time, he kept reminding himself not to look at her straight, so he only heard that she would like to speak with those humans. When she gave her name, Droknin raised his right paw, still looking at Mud. "Drokning. Uhmmmm. Pleased to meet you ma'am." He then hears the Dwarf that Goes with the Wind speak, and he's puzzled of why is he talking about crippling taxes, but he did like the part where he said. "...violence is looking more and more justified." Finally he hears Mud say. "... I believe we should make ourselves appear as friends to them."
With that said, Droknin pushes himself up from the ground, and he stands at full height. "Leave this to ol' Droknin here, I got this." He carries Mlinzi with him, and he goes to greet the humans wearing the funny cloaks. "Greetings friends!! May I have a moment of your attention?" He greets them with a warm smile, and as he gets closer them. "I would like to first mention that is is very honorable what you guys are doing for this town. Seriously. That makes my life sooo much easier, you know. So while I go out there, hunting this Dragon, I will not have to worry about the town, for you guys will be here!!" (I will assume the Redbrands are totally confused at this point.) "Do not you worry mates, this Dragon business will be taken care of promptly. At any rate. My companions... Well, we are not formally what one would call companions, you see, but that will do for now. So!! My companions over there." He points to the others. "Uhmm... There is a little one very close to the ground, hard to spot form time to time, I call him Little Rabbit... There is also a lady there, mind you, but I would recommend that you do not look upon her straight in the eyes. Then there is the Dwarf that literally floats in the air. I have to ask him how he does that one of these days." He turns back to the Redbrands. "Right!! So, I was hoping that you guys would not mind taking some time away from your very busy affair of posting notices, and perhaps you can clarify to all of us, what does this "Dragon Defense Assessment" really means." Droknin gets closer to one of them in a friendly manner. "To tell you the truth, I completely got it, but they would like a more "detailed" explanation, you know."

"My name is Rek, and I noticed your little flyers about the place, and I have a little group that is interested in your venture." "Let us say that I have a tendency to talk sharply, and that usually causes more trouble than it solves. Besides the obvious associations of hell, to be exact." Keashirryl answers quickly, taking note of the hint of something in Mud's eyes, before catching up to the Leonin.
She does not intervene with the conversation, but looks and listens carefully, trying to make sure that if the Redbrands turn hostile, she notices it before it would come to blows. (Perception: 8 ) As Droknin mentions her in his introduction, she casts thaumaturgy, making her eyes change from the original yellow to a flickering copper, emphasising the Leonin's words.
"...as soft in the head as his fur." "Exactly what my friend here said..." Declares Droknin. It takes a slight moment, and his face turns into a big question mark. The Leonin quickly turns around looking for another furred creature. Upon seen none, he starts to question the Kobold's state of mind. Then he hears Mud announce his name, and an utterly confused Droknin says. "Wait a minute..." He thinks to himself. "Rek?? Who is..." He sees the sharp look from Mud. "Ohhhh!! Ohh!!" He whispers to Mud. "You are using your made up name Little Rabbit. Very funny little one." He turns to one of the Redbrands. "This is Little Rabbit, aka, Rek." Droknin elbows whoever might be the leader, and smirks slightly. "You know, a k a mean also knows as. In case you didn't know. I knew it, obviously." Then he extends one of his paws. "Right! Where are my manners? I shall be knows as...." It takes a second. "Goldmane! Yes. Nice to meet you all." He tries to hide the laughter while thinking to himself. "Goldmane... Ha!! The three men have very different reactions to your group.
The first man, the youngest, a boy not more than 17 or 18, looks up at the Leonin speaking to him with open mouthed surprise. He backpedals a step... and then another step when confronted by the kobold and the shifty-eyed tiefling. "Uh... sir?" he asks with uncertainty.
The second man watches the first with a smirk. He's peeling an apple with a dagger and pokes an elbow at the third man in a 'get a load of this' fashion. Though he is smiling, there is a cruelty in his eyes and he takes care to size up each of you three, and the dwarf lurking behind.
The third man is noticeably older than the other two. He watches the interaction with arms crossed for a few more moments before stepping forward. "Enough of this, recruit. Get a move on! We're to paper this town before lunch - or there won't be any lunch for you." After another smirk from the man with the apple, he casts him a sharp look. "That goes for you as well."
Turning his attention to your group, he addresses you sharpy, in a fashion more suitable to a town constable than a mercenary. "We're operating on Redbrand business. A dragon requires... additional arms. Heavy weapons, ballistae and the like. That isn't cheap. We're putting the folk on notice that our protection doesn't come cheap either. Now excuse us, we've wasted enough time with this little freak show." He moves to push his way between Droknin and Mud and signals for his two men to follow.

As the older man pushes his way between Droknin and Mud, and upon hearing the words "freak show". The Leonin attitude changes from night and day, for he will not let anyone disrespect any of his companions. As fast as lightning, his left paw goes for the older man's neck, grabs it, and (if allowed) he raises the man up to his eye level. "Excuse me." He shows his fangs, inches from the man's face, and growls threateningly. "I do not believe we are done. My friend here." He nods to Mud. "Has further questions for you.” He lets out the tips of his claws to pinch the man’s neck. “If you do not mind." He checks if Mud is ok. "Lastly, you shall apologize to all of my friends, for your slight did not go unnoticed."

The young kid gasps and his hand drops to a shortsword on his belt but hesitates before drawing. The other drops his apple and has a second dagger drawn almost before Droknin has grabbed the older man. Both of them freeze the man in the Leonin's grasp holds out a hand and says "Hold."
Any thought that he may be pleading for peace is banished immediately as he turns a steely eyed look to Droknin. "Put me down," he rasps. "The Redbrands have you outnumbered five to one. We'll let this aggression slide, just this once. Otherwise... hrk... otherwise, Glasstaff will get a nice, new lionskin rug."

Olan watches the unfurling chaos from a few paces back, gripping the hilt of his longsword more tightly. Lion, what the hell are you doing?
The dwarf feels Shouka stir. Suddenly, something is aroused within him - a sensation which has not occurred in a long time. Is it the grip of fear? The pang of thrill? He does not know, but his own wit and steel seem sharper now than ever... Mud watches as Droknin attempts to do whatever it was he was doing, not a single facial feature changing the entire time, even when the leonin picked up the older man. When that happened, Mud quietly moved away from the group a bit, taking advantage of the fact that everyone is more likely to watch the oncoming fight that was obvious, then positioned himself somewhere behind the other men, quietly drawing his daggers in preparation.

Droknin only now realizes that these men are the ones they are looking for, and he also understand now why the other were more cautious regarding approaching them. He retracts his claws, and just opens his paw to drop the old man to the ground. "Sooo. You are the 'Redbrands'!" He pats the old man on the shoulder. "It is very fortuitous that we shall meet so soon. I still would like to insist. May we ask that you tell us more about this 'organization' of yours."

Startled, the tiefling woman takes a deep, sharp breath, resting her hand on her shield. For a moment, she ponders if she could just walk away, pretending to not have anything to do with the scenario, but it seems to be awfully late for that, as she has been introduced. Nevertheless, she takes a couple steps back.
"Excuse our... friend here. He is on edge since the dragon has appeared. He's new to town - if it wasn't obvious already - so he cannot possibly know how things are going around here" she says, trying to keep her tone calm and self-confident, but it rings somewhat cold. Let us see if you keep your words - it will tell something about your character either way, she thinks to herself, fixing her eyes on the leader of the Redbrands.

The older man massages his throat as he backs away from Droknin, eyeing all of you. He seems taken aback that the Leonin agreed to set him back down.
The man with the daggers moves to his side, one held back as if to throw... but the older man places a firm hand on his chest. "No. I said we would let things... slide. Viktir!" he barks at the youngest man. "Head back to the Inn and report this. Slobomir, you're with me." He begins backing away down the street in the direction of the large ruined manor. He walks backward at first, then sideways, seemingly unwilling to turn his back to your group. His eyes narrow and he looks back, forth, and around (trying to find where the little kobold disappeared to...).
The man with the daggers lingers a moment longer before sheating both daggers and trotting off after his leader.
The boy stammers, "But sir... the papers?"
"Forget the Savras-be-damned papers for now! Follow my command!" the old man shouts as he continues his retreat.

"Choose your next move very carefully, Droknin - I'll back you either way" Olan calls out, coming to a halt beside Keashirryl .
(Readied action - if the situation comes to blows, Olan will strike out at the nearest Redbrand)

"Apologies. Friends. I did not realize those are the same one that we are supposed to hunt." Droknin lowers his body, and prepare his hind legs to a sprint position. "Shall I intercept them?"

(Easily. The leader and the man with the daggers are just walking away - about 30ft away right now. The younger man is still standing 10 feet away, holding a stack of papers, seemingly unsure of what to do.)
