All - The sun hangs low in the sky by the time you reach the edge of the Misty Forest. A chill wind has began to blow for about an hour or so, whipping cloaks, hair, and pack straps about. The wind does little to disperse the thick fog that clings to the woods, making navigation difficult.

All - Working together, you manage to find the entrance to the catacombs through the fog. A circular stone structure about 20ft tall stands in an otherwise uninteresting part of the forest. The stone door lies in pieces upon the dusty interior, having been smashed in long ago.
Quest 1
The Trial
Inside the structure you find a circular stone stairwell that winds downward into darkness. The stairs are wide enough to allow for two to descend abreast and you see thick cobwebs hanging overhead. Long spent torches sit inert in rusted iron brackets at intervals as you descend. At the bottom of the stairs is a 20ft x 20ft stone room. Humanoid bones and bits of rubble are scattered about the floor and across from you in the southern wall is a wooden door.
Korba pulls out his sword and shield and prepares to move forward, seeing Osmorn do the same, but then notices both Fenly and Tarwun holding their hands on the walls and realizes that not everyone has the same affinity to the dark that he does. Holding his hand out the room is suddenly filled with a warm, dry, desert heat as four small suns appear from his hand and float to the corners of the room. He says, "I can keep these up for now, but should my concentration wane the lights will soon follow."He then looks forward at the door and adds, "This place has clearly been raided in the past, though raiders would not close doors. Should we be worried of traps? I have little knowledge of them, but I will gladly help to search if you tell me for what to look."

“That’s a neat trick thanks, I would much rather hold a shield than a torch”, Fenly said to Korba as he produced the light. He stopped digging in his backpack and strapped on his shield, drawing his war pick as well.
”Not sure about traps to be honest, not my thing”, he added.
He cocked his head to one side and listened intently for any signs of life beyond the party.

Fenly raised a finger motioning for quiet, and whispered, "Do you hear that? Someone is on the other side of the door". He looked down to the floor knowing if someone had come through here recently they would have left tracks, which would give them an idea of what they are and how many there are. He whispered to Korba, "Can you lower the lights to the floor so I can check for tracks?".
Fenly - In the dust and debris littering the floor, you see a well traveled path leading from the stairs to the door and through it. It is hard to say with any certainty exactly how many have come and gone, but the tracks are recent, within the past few days at least. The tracks appear to be going in both directions and also appear to have been made by bi-pedal humanoids as far as you can tell. They vary greatly in size, from almost child size to rather large.
Korba moves only his hands to direct the lights low to illuminate the floor and cast a shadow over anything small sitting on the floor, helping Fenly with his search, but he remains as still as possible, knowing that his armor often makes noise he when he moves, and not wanting to create any additional warning if those on the other side are dangerous.

Osmorn's eyesight flicker to the shades of gray darkvision before Korba casts the multiple lights, then back to normal after.
He quickly thanks Korba, "Ah well that should certainly help with navigating. And be my guest, it always helps to have a second set of elven eyes, no? I will however try to root out as many pesky traps as we come by them."
With that, Osmorn takes out his trusty rapier and quickly moves forward in front of the others, keeping an ever vigilant eye out for triggers, switches, and such.
Tarwun stays back and fairly still, to keep his clanking of armor from giving away their position, but he holds his spear at the ready, point low to the floor.

Osmorn - The conversation is hard to parse; it doesn't appear to be coming from directly beyond the door, maybe down a hall or behind another door even. Based on what little you can hear, it does not sound like common.
Osmorn tries his best to listen for the words before stating, "Nay. Too muffled through the doors. Certainly doesn't sound human though. And based on those little footprints I wouldn't imagine there's any frolicking children living down here."
He moves to open the door and whispers to everyone, "Be ready. Here we go gentlemen. No turning back now." Osmorn then opens the door as quietly as he can and let's his party members move through before slipping around the corner of the door way.
Fenly nods at Osmorn and moves through the door as quietly as he can, war pick in one hand and shield firmly grasped in the other. When he steps into the room he will move along the wall keeping to the shadows, scanning the room for any occupants.
All - The door opens with a small squeak that sounds louder to you all than it is. Before you is a narrow, 5ft wide hallway that leads both east and west.
To the east there is another door set into the northern wall about 20ft further down the hall. Another 25ft beyond that you see a wider passage leading north.
Any who would peek around the corner to the west will see a similar scene with a door in the east wall about 40ft north and a narrow passage that leads east 10ft beyond the door.
In the hallway now, you all can clearly hear that the conversation is being had in the room beyond the door 20ft to the east.
Korba recognizes the language as Orcish and understands the following:
Female voice: "...so he said 'You'd make a fine consort some day Yevelda, but women just aren't strong enough to be chief' Can you believe that?"
Male voice: "Wow, and on the anniversary of your first raid together? How can he be so insensitive? You deserve better!"
Female voice: "You're a good listener Ogdune, I'm glad we're friends."
Male voice: "Th-thanks Yevelda, me too..."
Female voice: "Anyway, we're going out tonight on another raid together. I bet if I can claim more puny human skulls than him he will start seeing me as the great warrior I am, not just some trophy consort."
Osmorn takes note of the gruff voices coming from the room before posing a question, "Well shall we deal with them first? Don't wanna be caught off guard if we move too far down the hallway. But east is as good as any, agreed?" He waits for his comrades' answers before heading towards the east and hugging the wall just to the right of the door.

Fenly whispers back to Osmorn, “Best not to leave them behind us if they are trouble. Damned if I understand what they are saying though, any of you getting it?”
He will listen to the voices not to understand but to pick out separate voices, trying to get a feeling for how many there are, as he takes up position to the left of the door.
Fenly - You hear two distinct voices, one assuredly male and the other, possibly female? It is hard to tell given the foreign language and the depth of the voices. You are confident that there are only two voices to be heard. Aside from the minute noises of the two moving around a bit as they speak, you hear nothing else.
