Hi, I'm an experienced D&D player with some DM experience looking for 4-5 players who are familiar with the rules of the game. This will be a play-by-post homebrew campaign. I'm still working on the setting, but it will be somewhat similar to the Forgotten Realms. Characters start at level 11. Characters must be entered within a week(like, you have exactly a week from when I post this, down to the minute).
Character creation:
Characters start at level 11. One rare magic item, three uncommons. You can have most non-magical items, but keep in mind encumbrance, and no plate armor or firearms. Also no vehicles. Blood hunter class is banned. Generally most canon content is allowed, just try not to break the game. We're all trying to have fun here. Also, you cannot be both a warlock and sorcerer. Use standard array or point buy.
Posting rules(once the campaign starts):
1 post per person between my posts. Try to roll ahead of time, instead of asking if you need to roll(acrobatics (insert roll here) if needed instead of "Do I need to roll acrobatics").
Other banned stuff:
Metagaming, long arguing about the rules, Staff of the python, wish, grungs
Other stuff:
Multiclassing is encouraged. Wild magic sorcerers automatically roll the d20 to see if they have a wild magic surge, and automatically have one if they have used Tides Of Chaos.
Race:
Class(es) and subclass(es):
Alignment (Nine canon alignments, you can also be lawful petty or Toxic good if you know what those are):
Class(es) and subclass(es): Flexible to fill any need in the party, but leaning towards war wizard, maybe mix in hexblade or a martial class for armor options and variety
Alignment: CG
Appearance: Tall, lanky, fair hair and blue eyes, dressed in practical travelling clothes
Backstory (you can PM me with this if you want): Child of a human and an elf, he grew up with loving parents who were themselves wanderers, books were the one constant he could count on. Naturally, a wizarding career was in his future.
Doesn't that backstory seem generic? Also, unless you edit that class, this is not a valid entry.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Just a couple of questions:
Do I roll my hit points or take the average?
Are we using point buy, standard array, or random number generation for ability scores?
What’s the plot hook for the game? How about the theme?
Can we grab feats instead of ability score improvements?
Are we using XP or milestones?
What’s the environment like in the world? Mostly water, sand, or grass?

Name: Codivil Jahro
Race: Custom Lineage
Class(es) and subclass(es): Fighter (Battle Master)/Warlock (The Celestial)
Alignment: Neutral Good
Appearance: Codivil has long blonde hair that comes down past her shoulders. She has piercing blue eyes and stands 5'11''. She has an athletic build from working as a sailor which has required a lot of strength on her part.
Backstory: Codivil is the daughter of a human parent and a mother who was of an undetermined race. Her mother was chosen by her people to assimilate with humans. During this mission, her mother fell in love with her father, and they conceived of a hybrid child, Codivil. It was forbidden by her parent's people for them to have a hybrid child and so her mother cut ties with her people and the family went into hiding.
Covidil grew up in a small village where no one knew of her exact nature and that of her mother. Codivil grew up believing that she was just a normal human child. Yet, Covidil yearned, in part due to her hybrid nature, to explore the wide world.
However, her father was concerned with what her mother's people would do if they ever were discovered. In order to cope with this anxiety, he turned to alcohol and became an alcoholic.
As an adult, Covidil left home and moved to a city on the coast. Here she enlisted as a sailor in the city's naval force. As a sailor, she learned how to fight and climbed the rankings of the navy. She learned to issue commands to others in battle.
Unfortunately, as fate would have it, her mother's people eventually tracked down her mother and sentenced her to death for her treasonous actions. And later on, they eventually tracked Covidil down. There they launched an attack on the ship that Covidil was on. The ship was sunk as a result of the attack, and Covidil barely survived. Though, she was believed dead.
Later on, she discovered that it was a celestial being that had spared Covidil's life, and it bound her in a pact to do its bidding. Though it also granted her some powers. One of these powers is the ability to summon a familiar which she calls Ezra.
Class(es) and subclass(es): Ranger (Gloom Stalker)
Alignment:NG
Appearance: Nathaniel stands at about 5'8 with short red hair. His emerald green eyes reflect the association he has with nature. He is athletically built reflecting his time of navigating the woods. Nathanial can usually be seen wearing his armor and long brown cloak, two swords peaking out from each side and his bow on his back. A celtic knot tattoo can be seen running the length of his right arm and up to the base of his neck.
Backstory: (PMing to ensure it works with what you have in mind)
Items: Dragon Wing Bow (Radiant), Bracers of Archery, Boots of Elvenkind, Shortsword of Warning.
Race: Variant Human (I took tough for feat, that’s why I left option blank on char sheet because I do not have access to it)
Class and Subclass: Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer
Alignment: Neutral Good
Appearance: She is a very fair skinned Japanese woman, about five and a half feet tall with long black hair and rich brown eyes. Very average in stature, she has a demure and beautiful face that takes on a porcelain quality with a thin and bronze sheen of scales running down her neck. She typically wears dresses passed down to her from her mother (who was given the dressed by her mother, so on and so forth); most of them are bright and colorful, alive with pinks and reds or blues and yellows. The patterning on the dresses appear exquisite and refined, although the dresses themselves aren’t worth anything as they are simply a family heirloom. She wears a cloak of protection and wields a quarterstaff, with a wand of magic missiles and a wind fan stowed in a special punch on her waist ribbon. She wears long stockings on her legs along with uncharacteristic adventurer’s boots that stick out like a sore thumb amongst the rest of outfit. Around her neck is two necklaces: one is a bronze locket and another is shiny gold amulet of health.
Backstory: Born to a lower-middle class family, Mei Ling Sun was used to the regular trials and tribulations of her childhood life. Her father was a merchant and her mother a tailor and painter, so they often moved around, chasing the next big market where they could hopefully scourge up enough funds for the year with her father’s goods and her mother’s creations. She would work often and help in any way she can, but in her rare downtime she learned how to paint and weave as her mother did (her family hoped that she would soon create masterpieces for them to sell) and learned how to read and write from her father. Eventually, as she grew older, she found herself gazing out the window while her father lectured her on accounting or haggling, wondering what it would be like to get away from the cities and towns that she cycled through like seasons if only for a little while. One night, impulse drove her to pack a bag and go on a night hike. She wandered deep into the forest surrounding the town she was in, walking for hours and witnessing the eerie beauty of the night. Her mother’s warning voice echoed like a gong in the back of her mind, but she continued forth anyways. For better or for worse. As dawn creeped up from the horizon, Mei heard a low brooding noise, much like that of a loss child, coming from the buses. Her curious mind overtook her better judgement and she soon found herself peering down at a helplessly injured baby dragon, the fragments of its egg still laying by its side.
She stayed with the dragon, through dawn and the entire day, caring for it and protecting it from any further harm. Her father, worried that she had ran away, set out to look for her as soon as he realized that she was not home for breakfast. As twilight of the next day approaches, Mei can hear the distant calls of her father echoing through the trees. Fear seizes her thinking that she would be punished for going out at night, so she ran as far as she could with the dragon in her arms. Then, all of the sudden, a wing swoops down towards her and she can’t feel the ground below her anymore. Legends tell of the Lady of Dragons, a little scared girl named Mei Ling Sun who grew to recognize her true power. (This backstory can be edited to fit what the dm has in mind)
Appearance: An older dwarf with silvery blond hair around the edges of his head and flowing into a luxurious beard plaited with a multitude of braids. A face like a scrambled egg peaks out from beneath furrowed brows, not really looking at you, but something just over your left shoulder. A heavy war hammer hangs from a tanned belt with a large buckle on the front depicting a balanced scale.
Backstory (you can PM me with this if you want): Relnor began his life as many dwarves do, with compulsory military service. He learned his martial skills as quickly as many of his brethren, but there was something else that really drew his interest. He always had a predilection and talent for arcane augury. Without really knowing how he knew he could tell you when the next avalanche would happen, or where to defend against the next goblin raid. Dwarven magic is rare, and oft misunderstood. It caused him to be shunned my many of his shieldbrothers. But it also caught the eye of a mystic armorer in the city, who took Relnor under her wing for tutelage and then when the time was right funded his journey and education at the nearby elven academy of magic. There they honed his skills with foretelling, and Relnor realized that magic could be a potent ally on the battle field. Since then he has been an erstwhile member of his clan's militia, while also picking up mercenary work from time to time. With his magical abilities, he always seems to know where his hammer and his wand are needed most.
Character sheet highlights: Magic Items: Picked up Belt of Hill Giant Strength (R), Boots of Striding and Springing (U), Cloak of Protection (U), and Warhammer +1 (U) Other Gear: Wearing Halfplate thanks to Hill Dwarf Racial Armor Proficiency
(Thanks to Hill Dwarf's racial traits I can make a suitable gish without needing to multiclass at all. A bit low on HP, but plenty of magical tricks up his sleeve to keep him going.)
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Founding Member of the High Roller Society.(Currently trying to roll max on 4d6)
Alignment: Lawful Neutral (converted from Lawful Good)
Appearance: small sized, aging harendon with greying ear tips and overgrown toe and tail fur, wearing motorcycle goggles to hide his clock-face eyes. A bit of a mad scientist vibe with an air of humility and “just trying to survive the moment” jumpy jittery nature.
Backstory: an acolyte to Tyr, one day during a long prayer retreat, the imaculate visualization of Tyr under which Billup was being adorned by the radiant light of justice gave way like a sandcastle crumbling into the sea into a seemingly infinite cloud of stardust modrons.
This revelation awoke in Billup both a deep conviction that behind the personified god Tyr was the universal and therefore more fundamental order held together by the modrons and their machinated unifying form Primus, as well as arcane powers that arose at will when in service to fairness. This shifted him from what he had thought was a life in service of good, to a life in service of balance. With his new found powers as well as the charity of his very life to order on all scales, Billup has both taken up the call to action in service of the world, as well as the fulfillment of a childhood dream to adventure and see the world beyond the temples and cloisters.

Name: Dabbert Hahft
Race: Human (Variant)
Class and Subclass: Fighter (Battle Master)
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Appearance: 6' 3", 215 lbs. Dabbert is athletic, a bit toned, and built for his profession as a soldier. His skin is tanned and his dark eyes match his hair, though his hair is starting to gray a bit prematurely. He wears half plate armor that is dingy, a bit rusty in spots, and purposefully darkened with shades of green and brown to camouflage it. A red skull with a split down the middle is shoddily painted on the front of his armor, and a strip of red cloth, once part of a Skullsplitter battle standard, is tied around his upper left bicep. The words 'born again' are etched around a hole in his armor above his heart.
Backstory: (This backstory was already written and will be adjusted so that the specific details match the world if Dabbert is selected for this campaign.)
One of Dabbert Hahft’s earliest memories is taking his father’s sword down from the hearth and swinging it around in the little hovel they called home. He did…fairly well…but his father caught him playing with the weapon and took it from him before beating the living shit out of him. Then he put the sword back up on the hearth while berating his young son, telling him all this and that about how swords kill, and how dangerous they are, and that no son of his was going to grow up to be some mindless muscle behind a weapon.
Dabbert was born to Hansferd and Ilene Hahft. His mother was a seamstress, and his father was a soldier for a brief period before Dab was born, serving in the Veil Infantry. He came home at the end of his tour of duty and took up farming, married Ilene, and started a family. They survived in serfdom for many years.
Dabbert himself followed in his father’s footsteps after reaching manhood (much to Hansferd’s protests), but the world, by that time, was a different place; when he wasn’t marching with an army or host he was skirmishing with various monsters and insurrectionist factions with the Veil Infantry, 10th Mountain Border Regiment, 1st Platoon, also known as the Skullsplitters. It was while in the Skullsplitters that he met and befriended the Goliath named Ecks. They became inseparable, the two of them rising through the ranks together until Dabbert was a Lieutenant in charge of the platoon and Ecks his top Sergeant. They served two tours that largely focused on the defense of the Veil border on the farthest side of the Voltus Mountain range, where their platoon frequently skirmished with Goblin, Kobold, and Gnoll packs operating in the region. They saw their fair share of Crypt Slimes, Orcs, Trolls, Mimics, and once someone in the platoon swore that they’d encountered an Owlbear in the forest (although everyone knows Owlbears are just a myth). Once he even saw one of the Privates in his platoon dissolved by a Gelatinous Cube. They even patrolled past a hole once that everyone claimed a Tarrasque lived in, but Dab believed that about as much as he had believed the story of the Owlbear. There were bandits and insurrectionists to put down, sorcerers dabbling in black magic and calling upon dangerous old things from beyond the physical limits of the world, and a girl named Betty that nearly killed the whole platoon with something called ‘syphilis’.
All in all they saw some pretty bad shit and lived to tell their tale.
Dabbert tried to return to normal life in LarkDust after the end of his second tour. His mother and father, both having succumbed to illness years prior, had left nothing in their wake for him to inherit. Even his father’s sword, Keeper, was gone, something that he intends to remedy in time. He tried working on a farm, but his old life had nothing left for him, and even fell in love with Rebecca, a farmer’s daughter, on the northern skirts of LarkDust before she was killed, of all things, by a rabid Flumph that had escaped a monster wrangler’s traveling sideshow.
This did little to stimmy his alcoholism.
He began taking up small contract jobs to supplement his income and found temporary lodging in the Wide Gate neighborhood. He spends most of his free time at the Sick Rat with his friend Rech or at the Broken Keg giving Molly a hard time...
Additional Notes: I leaned hard into RP with this character, so I took all Feats instead of Ability Score Increases. So, on top of being a Battle Master Fighter, he is also a Shield Master, Polearm Master, Sentinel, and is Alert. I also put a lot into his Intelligence stat to give him some interesting stats in Investigation, History, and Perception, so that he can do more than poke stuff with his spear. You'll see that I augmented some of his shortcomings by taking Gauntlets of Ogre Power (uncommon), Goggles of Night (uncommon), an Immovable Rod (uncommon), and a +2 Shield (rare).
Class(es) and subclass(es): Cleric, war. Shaped to be a vampire/undead hunter.
Alignment: LG
Appearance: Greying cherry-red hair, wide shoulders carrying the weight of the free world, a long beard tied with ribbons and strips of cloth from friends and family who have died at the hands of the undead, a gold and blue surcoat, silver-grey armour, a helmet that is fashioned from the fingerbones covered in iron, and pouch of assorted nuts that he snacks on.
Backstory (you can PM me with this if you want): Driven from his dwarven home in the East Rift because of his rejection of the old gods, the young priest-in-training Grummel resettled in a human hamlet, put aside the books and started up a successful waterside brauhaus (brewhouse) called The Thirsty Ogre. Business was slow but enough travellers, river captains, soldiers and loyal locals kept him in business, especially as he had a good reputation for helping keep the law when called upon. Besides, as a healer, he was able to keep the debt collectors at bay. That was until his patrons started disappearing.
Too late, Grummel discovered that a vampire called Lady Frost had moved into the hamlet. She had secretly raised up an undead army, and quickly infested the region, forcing all surviving mortals to flee. The dwarf himself barely escaped with his life. The vampire did not know of the hidden tunnels under his brewhouse and the dozens of barrels of ale that he set alight to stop her when she came for him.
Grummel lost many a friend that night, and the screams continue to haunt him. However, he is driven for revenge. He has spent the last twenty years crossing the continent and hunting the undead, whether as a soldier, mercenary or adventurer, moving ever closer to returning home and removing Lady Frost from the land of the living.
Backstory: Xerrix's father was normal, an expert adventurer, who had at one point, by taking out a recent cult, angered an archdemon. This archdemon cured Xerrix's father, that his bloodline with be cursed to bring destruction and chaos wherever they went. Xerrix brew the brunt of this curse, in his appearance and magic. After spending most of his childhood in a boarding school, Xerrix could only find jobs in local gangs, magical muscle for hire. Recently, Xerrix received the news of his father's death, who died defending the city. Using his inheritance, Xerrix has made it his mission to become a warrior like his father, to try to turn his curse into a blessing.
Question: I would like to play an Aberrant Mind sorcerer class which has a feature which grants it extra spells and also allows these spells to be switched for different spells of enchantment or divination school at level up. But this website does not permit me to make such switches unless I homebrew it. I created such a homebrew, will you let me use it? The only change is which spells it grants, otherwise it's the same as canon class.
If you're not good with that I have a different character concept I could submit.

Appearance: 8ft 300lbs Brown shaggy fur with Large green eyes with tattered brown shorts and blue suspenders.
Backstory: George was found abandon as a small cub in the woods by a very old mage. The mage tried to find his clan but failing that he named him George after a long dead friend and took George in teaching and trying to calm his wilder side. George never could pronounce the mages name correctly and simply called him BaBa. As George grew older his BaBa grew more feeble until finally he passed away. At only ten years old George mourned and buried BaBa then gather the few things his father left him and set out to find his birth clan. The next 20 years were hard on George being seen as a monster to most towns and villages, but he found accepting people who were willing to buy goods he brought from the wilds. George never found his clan but continues to travel around the outliers of society only entering towns and taverns he’s well known in. The small town he first found when he was young have taken to calling him Big George.
Hrothgar comes from a respected family. His father Obrin is a paladin who is well known in the surrounding lands. At a young age his father trained Hrothgar to follow in his footsteps. Teaching him more then just how to fight. As a paladin Obrin led a group of soldiers called the Griffons Watch. One of which is Hrothgars uncle Tyron Bhadon, which is how his parents got introduced. As a commander Obrin also tough Hrothgar of tactics and to not just fight for himself. When he was older he also learned how to conduct himself in the presence of nobles and kings. He carried the banner of the griffon, the symbol of Obrins battalion.
But the path of paladin was not for Hrothgar, he never felt much for devoting his life to kings and gods. He prefered to do what he felt was right. The Griffons Watch only protected, only fighting when the enemy chose, Hrothgar wanted to do more for the people of the land. As time passed Hrothgar also wanted more than just to be known as Obrin's son. For these reasons he went to search for his own path. To fight for those that need it. He became a soldier at first fighting for politics and later a mercenary to fight for causes he saw fit.
He learned to fight alongside others and found his natural place as a captain. Inspired by his fathers teachings Hrothgar is always inclined to protect and aid allies in combat. This brought him the respect of soldiers and those needing his aid. Near his hometown he started to make a name for himself. With knowledge of who he was also came more dangerous requests and greater journeys. Being away from home for longer periods of time forming his own group of companions. Only to be called back when news reached Hrothgar of the death of his uncle. He had fallen after a large attack.
Coming home Obrin tried to keep Hrothgar near, perhaps even under his fathers command. But at this point the two had grown apart in ideas, Obrin being much more religous and strict. The Griffons Watch itself grew smaller over time, things were not the same. They only cared for those near their homes fighting mostly for the king. But Hrothgar wanted to expand and go to more distant places where they needed aid. They argued much about this matter untill Obrin finally saw he could not stop Hrothgar. As an act to make sure Hrothgar safe would not forget the watch Obrin gave him a small griffon statue, one that has been a symbol of the Watch since the beginning. And so Hrothgar departed once more to find those in need and to rebuild the name of his once great house.
Playstyle:
I would like to play him as a leader role for the party. Trying to bring out the best in his companions. In combat he will be part tank but i have also included a lot of support abilities to match his role in aiding allies and to give others extra attacks and health for a roleplay of the captain effect.
Id like to also type out actual speeches for him to inspire the troops as RP for his Inspiring leader feat. And if the situation occurs to boast strong tales of his allies feats during their adventures as he has no issue putting others in the spotlight.
Items:
I did not want to take the min/max stat items like most are doing so went for a build that matches the character in terms of roleplay and playstyle Rare: Figurine of Wondrous Power (Griffon) Uncommon: Cloak of protection, Shield+1, Restorative Ointment
Also for the regular items i did go for a riding horse (since its a cheap option and didnt know if a warhorse would of been ok). Also made seperate bags to manage encumbrance since you indicated you would like us to think about it (and be realistic in what we carry). Id be fine to manage it like this where i would have to state taking an item from the saddlebags of the horse in order to use it (assuming we will be leaving the horse somewhere).
Backstory: The Akame family is haunted by evil, some say. When one of them is tormented emotionally by the loss of a great love, or despair at a great personal failing, or something equally terrible, a strange energy is released in their brain, and changes them. The power fans and twists their emotions into hatred and makes it grow stronger, and the hatred in turn strengthens the powers in a feedback loop. Many of them who had been particularly sensitive ended up turning to evil, and naturally others would shun and persecute them, even those who had done nothing wrong, even as they tried to make use of their powers.
Raised with the stigma of being an Akame, Agar strove to overcome it through diligent service and devotion to the laws and authorities of his home, eventually becoming one of the best agents gathering intelligence among other nations. His skill and power grew, and he was given harder and more important tasks, and relied on (some might say exploited) to ever greater extent, yet came no closer to earning respect from the other families. Frustrated, he nonetheless carried out his orders for the greater good – until one day he was ordered to assassinate the leader of a rival town with which they were not at war, as a pre-emptive move to weaken them. Recognizing that he was being taken advantage of to do dirty work, Agar absconded. Aware that others would be sent to track him down, he simply walked away, going wherever his eyes were looking, as long as it was away from his old life. Searching for a purpose, he’s been doing odd jobs and adventuring tasks far beneath his abilities, trying to keep a low profile and avoid distinguishing himself.

Hi there, I am interested but what method for ability score generation please?
Just a couple of questions:
Do I roll my hit points or take the average?
Are we using point buy, standard array, or random number generation for ability scores?
What’s the plot hook for the game? How about the theme?
Can we grab feats instead of ability score improvements?
Are we using XP or milestones?
What’s the environment like in the world? Mostly water, sand, or grass?

Sorry to everyone for not mentioning this before, ability scores are point buy or standard array(your choice).
Name: Relnor Silverbeard
Race: Hill Dwarf
Class(es) and subclass(es): Wizard (Divination)
Alignment: Lawful Neutral

(Thanks to Hill Dwarf's racial traits I can make a suitable gish without needing to multiclass at all. A bit low on HP, but plenty of magical tricks up his sleeve to keep him going.)
Founding Member of the High Roller Society. (Currently trying to roll max on 4d6)
Name: Billup Starbopper
Race: Harendon
Order Domain Cleric & Clockwork Soul Sorcerer

Name: Grummel Goldpick.
Race: Hill Dwarf.

Magic Items: Greatsword Flame Tongue, Adamantine Chain Mail, Brooch of Shielding, Gauntlets of Ogre Power
Yes, you can use that.

Name: Agar Akame
Race: Custom Lineage
Class: Aberrant Mind 10/Wizard 1
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Backstory: The Akame family is haunted by evil, some say.
