"Hm..." Ambre thinks for a moment, before starting to pull things out and throwing them back in. "Some tools, my textbooks, clothes, extra food... a half finished project or two... oh!" She pulls out a crowbar. "I was looking for this!"
"Black powder, in there?" Aelyn says, looking a bit pale again, rising and taking a quick step back.. "Don't blow the dorm up okay, at least not while people are there." He says with a nervous smile.
Arvol listens to the conversation between Aelyn and Ambre for a moment, then replies to Aithne. "I think your class list is identical to mine Aithne! And I agree with you, there's no way I could fit in more classes! I plan to try to get involved in some extracurricular activities and have some fun here. Six classes would be a killer!" He kind of shakes his head at Ambre taking so many classes plus working. "I wonder how we find out about the extracirriculars? I'm rather curious what clubs and such they have here."
"Oh, those I do remember." Aelyn responds to Arvol. "I will definitely join the Playactors Drama Guild and the Strixhaven Band Association if any of you would care to join there." He says to the others.
"Oh, good." Aithne smiled at Arvol. "I'm glad I'll have someone to study with. I'm very eager to start classes and learn more about spellcraft. Fortunately-- or unfortunately, I suppose-- I'll be spending a great deal of time in the Biblioplex."
She chewed on her lower lip. "I applied to be a book clerk and was thankfully accepted. It should give me a bit of spending money. And more time to study, of course. I thought, well, hoped, that I could participate in the Dead Languages Society if I had any time remaining."
"I only speak three alternate languages, which forces me to use magic for translation work. I'd really like to learn at least two more in my time here."
"Being a book clerk doesn't sound like too bad of a job. I'm sure you will just love being in the Biblioplex! For myself, I am not going to work if I can help it." Avrol says to Aithne. "How can you say ONLY three alternate languages? That sounds pretty good. Heck, I can only speak... hmm... well, I guess it's three alternate languages too. Heh! Who knew!" Arvol chuckles. "It would be interesting to learn one of the more esoteric ones - Primordial or Abyssal or something. Never got around to learning one of those. Hmm... and a spell to translate languages? Maybe I'll have to learn that one day."
He glances at Aithne with a bit of an embarrassed look. "I... don't know all that many spells. Hopefully I can correct that in my time here at Strixhaven."
"Oh! I speak Primordial." Aithne looked a bit embarrassed about that fact. "It probably would have served me better to learn the languages of the current era. Perhaps Elvish or Dwarven? But, ah, no ancient texts are written in the common tongue, so..." She shrugged, sending a spill of raven locks down over her shoulder, pooling atop the books she carried.
"It seemed more expedient to learn the ancient symbols than to spend my time casting and recasting a spell that would allow me to comprehend the texts. If I'm fortunate, I'll be able to pick up one of the demonic tongues during my studies here. It was a bit difficult to explain my interest in such things up my family. Which languages do you speak?"
She tipped her head towards Avrol, sending another cascade of hair over her shoulder. If she'd remembered to tie it back, she wouldn't be so disheveled, but she'd been in such a hurry to reach the Biblioplex that she'd entirely forgotten. At Ambre's exclamation, she turned her attention to the girl; who'd emptied what appeared to be the contents of her bag onto the ground around her.
"Oh! Is that the Practical Use of Impractical Spells?" Her attention was immediately redirected. Her gaze covetously drawn to the text.
"No, its my project journal I thought I lost it and was going to have to start over..." She pauses for a moment, thinking. "Oh... crap that's what I was looking for." She drops the book on the ground, gathers up the half a dozen random bits of metal rolling around, and goes back to digging.
"Elvish, Gnomish, and Draconic are the ones I know. It covers a lot of things, though yea, Primordial would be cool to know!" Avrol watches Aithne as her hair goes this way and that. He steps forward, almost looking like he's going to say something until Aithne's attention is captured by Ambre and the book that she has found. He takes a small step back as he watches the two.
Professor Sharpbeak looks on at all of you with a smile, happy to see you are all getting along.
"I would not worry about not knowing too many spells, Mister Flintwind,"Sharpbeak says. "Truth be told, I do not know many myself. Here at Strixhaven, it matters not how many spells you can cast; what matters is what you do with the magic that is available to you! Just mastering one form of magic, even one spell, can make all the difference in the outside world."

"Oh..." There was definite disappointment in Aithne's tone. Her crestfallen expression was rather like a child that had been promised a sweet, only to have that treat snatched away. Despite the books cradled in her arms, she seemed equally interested in the book Ambre had referenced.
After brief consideration, she crouched next to her schoolmate. "Would you like any assistance with sorting your belongings?"Granted, it would require her to put her books onto the ground, but she had an idea about how to manage that without dirtying the tomes.
"Huh?" Ambre looks up, "oh, sure!" As Aithne gets closer, it's clear that most of Ambre's belongings, while well cared for, seem to have been through some kind of event or other. Most of her books are dog-eared and have bits of paper and leather and what looks like a pen inside them, her clothes are either wrinkled, covered in oil and grease stains, or both. From the amount of tools that have fallen out at this point it's clear she's brought a couple sets with her.
Then there are the projects. Small metal creatures with dents in them, shattered glass with patterns engraved on one side. Upon noticing the last bit Ambre puts on a pair of heavy leather gloves and starts picking the pieces up, "Darn it... guess I'm starting over on this one. Oh well, this time I'll add a measure to ensure It's inserted correctly..." she seems practically giddy as she picks up her notebook and starts writing.
Approval granted, Aithne straightened from her crouched position and smiled appreciatively at Avrol. "If you wouldn't mind? Just briefly, though." With deliberate care, she handed the stack of tomes to Avrol, then shed her backpack onto the ground. Then, she grasped the hem of her overlarge robe and stripped it off over her head.
Her glasses ended up fully crooked in the process and her hair ended up in a tangle over her face, but the attempt was successful, leaving her in a fitted tunic and flared leggings which cinched at the waist and ankles. Blowing a frustrated breath at the hair tumbled across her face, Aithne folded the robe into a neat square and laid it on the ground next to her pack.
Then, she took back the stack of tomes from Avrol, gently placing them atop the fabric barrier to protect them from the ground of the courtyard. Taking a moment to right her glasses and rake her hair back from her face, Aithne eventually settled into a cross-legged position next to Ambre. "You have an impressive collection."
In Aithne's opinion, the books came first. She collected those she could see amidst the tumble, gently smoothing pages and straightening dust jackets. "Are you an inventor?"

"But what do you have in there Ambre, a library?" Aelyn says, scratcing his head.
"Hm..." Ambre thinks for a moment, before starting to pull things out and throwing them back in. "Some tools, my textbooks, clothes, extra food... a half finished project or two... oh!" She pulls out a crowbar. "I was looking for this!"

Aelyn chuckles as he sees the crowbar. "For getting into the Biblioplex after hours no doubt." He says, smiling at Ambre.
"No I needed to pry the top off a barrel of black powder," Ambre says, tossing the crowbar back into her bag and continuing to rummage.
