Batair, gladly seizing his opportunity to finally be a tank, uses his movement to get within grabbing distance of the lich.
Using a second level spell slot, he imbues his weapon with [Tooltip Not Found]!
"Got ya now..!" he bellows intensely while attempting to hew the lich with his battleaxe.
First Strike: Attack: 17 Damage: 5
Divine Smite (3d8 active + 1 for Improved) Radiant Damage: 18
Second Strike: Attack: 14 Damage: 7
Improved Divine Smite (assuming only the passive for second blow) Radiant Damage: 5
_______________________________________
((For Reference:
Divine Smite (Special)
When you hit with a melee weapon attack, you can expend one spell slot to deal 2d8 extra radiant damage to the target plus 1d8 for each spell level higher than 1st (max 5d8) and plus 1d8 against undead or fiends.
Extra Attack (Special)
You can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.
Improved Divine Smite (Special)
Whenever you hit with a melee weapon attack, the target takes an extra 1d8 radiant damage.))
Still need these to be done with disadvantage. Just roll the 1d20+7 again for each attack and we can see if they actually hit. The Lich's AC is only 15, as he cannot cast shield right now, so both may hit, but he has uses of 'lucky' left, and you have to roll as good as, or better than, the above rolls to hit. I'd roll your disadvantage rolls myself, but this may end the battle, so don't want to do that if it can be helped. I'll give you till this evening to reroll or I'll do so for you.

As Batair goes to hit the Wizard with the first strike, he manages to get past the wizard's foreknowledge, and appears about to hit the mage. Batair, reroll your d20+7 once more, as the lich uses Lucky to force you to reroll yet again.
Batair slips as he goes to strike, a lucky break for the mage, as the attack misses, cutting through the fabric of his robe, but not hitting anything vital. Batair's second strike also just misses, the lich able to detect the blow with foresight and step out of the weapon's path with ease.
Kosmos and Lyra are now up.
Kosmos please post first if you can, as any blow, that hits, is likely going to end this fight.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kosmos, fed up with the fight, the illusiveness of the non-lich creature and the gosh darned fire shield, rushes in to try and finish it off! Gripping his quarterstaff, he lets the fire lick him as he twirls it around looking for purchase.
Attack: 16 Damage: 9
Attack: 17 Damage: 9
Then using a ki point for flurry of blows, he uses his big feet to kick it in the stomach
Briefly Lyra's voice is her normal melodious tone again as she plays a quick note on her black harmonica to cast Healing Word on Donlas with her bonus action.
Then the blackness returns, much greater than before, her entire body turning to the full darkness of her instrument. A yawning chasm to Shadowfell. Her voice is a thunderous, grating whisper:
"Christmas bells have rung and your time has come, Lich that is not a Lich. Your life force is utterly forfeit. The Raven Queen is here for you. Can you feel her warm breath? She is very close."
3 more jet black Eldritch Blast beams lash out, attempting to blast and devour the last of the non-Lich's life. The black tendril between her and the wizard thickens, becoming as wide as both of them, sucking forth his life-force swirling back to Shadowfell. (If the non-Lich drops to 0hp, Lyra heals 7hp via Hexblade's Curse).
Moving in without concern for your own safety, you slam your staff into the liche's temple. He looks confused for a moment, then simply topples to the ground. Blood oozes from the crack you made in his skull, and he lays unbreathing. Surveying the chamber, as you catch your breath, you notice the tree, still held in Lyra's sphere of force, stop thrashing around and go still. Looking through the presents, now scattered around the floor, you find they are filled with wooden crafts the children had made, most of not much value. Of note though there are two items that are clearly not children-made, a gem and a battle axe. Both would have the telltale feel of magic about them as they are handled. They are a gem of seeing and a battleaxe +2.
Conclusion
The party is greeted as heroes by the villagers as they return with the missing children. The parents embrace their children and cheer the party. A holiday celebration is set in motion, as Christmas has been saved! The villagers go about decorating the town, cooking delicious holiday treats, indulging in festive beverages, and singing seasonal songs. A grand feast is held in honor of the party. At the celebration, the group is presented with a thank you gift from the town - a magical Hoovale Snow Globe. The celebration lasts well into the night with everyone eating, drinking, and being merry.
End
Well that ends this one-shot. I am glad we pushed through to the end, and enjoyed running this for you all very much.
Thanks for running this Dragon! Was a nice oneshot:)

((Thanks DD, and all of you... GG and Happy Hunting in your other adventures. ))
Batair, satisfied with the group and the success of the mission, thanks everyone. Inside, however, he's deeply disappointed in his performance from this venture.
Taking the opportunity to sneak away during the celebration, he returns to his home temple seeking prayer, solitude, training, and revision.
Before Batair, the valiant paladin leaves, early in the night, she claps him on the shoulder and says: "We could not have done it without you, friend dwarf. Even when our attacks missed, the protection you provided just being near you gave us an aura to be able to resist the wizard's magic and to not be frightened. Every failure is a lesson, but when we can gain those lessons and still emerge victorious in the end with the children saved? It is a Christmas miracle indeed. And we all live to fight another day."
During the festivities, Lyra regales the town with song and of course the story of the adventure. In this story, she makes sure to especially highlight the courage of the children themselves AND of Donlas' mighty contributions in particular. She remembers the halfling's reticence when he first came into town, not wanting to show his face. She is determined that he (rightly) be treated as the hero that he in fact is. In truth, she doesn't have to exaggerate much, recounting Donlas' devastating attacks, especially in the final battle.
And finally, with the frisky harengon Kosmos, she decides to have some fun. She issues him a challenge, once both have had a drink or two. A footrace in the snow!
It is a race Lyra is bound to lose, given the harengon's sheer speed, combined with the mobility from his training as a monk. She of course cheats by using Misty Step but it is not enough (as she knew it wouldn't be). Once she is beaten, breathless and laughing, she hugs Kosmos and rejoins the festivities.
When her head finally hits the pillow in the room at the Inn, Lyra's sleep is blessedly dreamless for once. No snowmen or kobolds. No Lich or non-Lich. No dark gaping hole to Shadowfell and vast life-stealing Raven Queen. For the first time that she can remember in ages, Lyra is content.

Batair gives Tybard a smirk and small nod.
He adds this encounter to his memory that maybe not all elves are bad, and continues on his journey home.
Donlas listens to lyra's story, and watches at how the townsman react. Hoping he might not have to leave his home behind for some time. Although, he might have the biggest influence for that himself.
