Hey everyone! My name is Thauraeln_The_Bold, and I go by TTB. I’m going to be running a modified version of the Strixhaven: Curriculum of Chaos adventure. For those of you who don’t know, Strixhaven is essentially a magical college where gifted students study and practice the arcane. Strixhaven is divided into five separate colleges- Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin Lorehold, Prismari, Quandrix, Silverquill, and Witherbloom. Each college has a different theme, and a different magical mascot. Lorehold is all about history and uncovering the past, Prismari students use magic as an art form, the scholars of Quandrix see the world as being governed by numbers and theories, Silverquill students are eloquent speakers and bold leaders, while Witherbloom disciples walk the line between life and death. You’ve just been accepted to Strixhaven, and your first day on campus has nearly arrived. Who knows what wonders await you?
This campaign will run from 1st level to 10th level, using a milestone leveling system. I’m looking for a party of 4-5 characters, preferably with more of a focus on their personality then their backstory, though a good backstory is always fun. The campaign will be roleplay heavy, with a decent amount of combat and exploration mixed in, and while it won’t necessarily follow any official Magic: The Gathering lore, I’ll do my best to ensure that the adventure is fun and interesting for everyone playing.
Rules:
Only official content from the core rulebooks, Xanathar’s Guide to Everything, Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything, and Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos is allowed for character creation. However, additional official sourcebooks may be allowed upon request.
Everyone must choose one of the following backgrounds for their character: Lorehold Student, Prismari Student, Quandrix Student, Silverquill Student, or Witherbloom student. For those of you without access to Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos, I can give you a rundown of the benefits of each one. Please note that while your character won’t be assigned to a specific Strixhaven college at the beginning of the campaign, they will be later on.
Ability scores can be chosen through either Point Buy or Standard Array, your choice.
Each character has to be able to use some form of magic by level 3 (not counting anything learned through their background or race).
Each character must be college-aged, as they’ll be starting their first year at Strixhaven.
No strictly evil characters are allowed. Morally grey is okay, but consider that they’ll be on a school campus for the majority of the adventure.
No disruptive or disrespectful behavior. Period.
No cursing.
No excessive violence or explicit content. Everything should be at least PG-13.
While you don’t have to make your character on D&DBeyond, it’s highly recommended.
Post Format:
Preferred Player Name and Pronouns:D&D Experience: Character Name: Character Race/Lineage: Character Class: Planned Build (if any): Strixhaven College: Personality Summary (put in spoilers): D&DBeyond Character Link (if any):
All stars fade. Some stars forever fall. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Homebrew:Magic Items,Monsters,Spells,Subclasses ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If there was no light, people wouldn't fear the dark.
Preferred Player Name and Pronouns:D&D Experience: Deadones, he/him, played for many years off and on Character Name: Niter Character Race/Lineage: Goblin (If not acceptible then gnome) Character Class: artificer Planned Build (if any): I am planning on focusing on the crafting aspect. Strixhaven College: Prismari Personality Summary (put in spoilers):
A crafty fellow that likes to experiment with various effects. Most of these experiments are failures and have a tendency of blowing up in his face, sometimes literally. Even so he wants to show people what it can do when it is successful. He is a coward at heart and will do anything to avoid conflict, relying on trickery or ranged attacks.
Preferred Player Name and Pronouns: Just call me Kev :) (he/him) D&D Experience: Started a few years ago over discord with friends, but have moved to primarily PbP over the past couple years since life has gotten in the way of AFK meetings. Character Name: Malky Noree Character Race/Lineage: Rock Gnome Character Class: Artificer (not sure subclass yet. I’ll see what fits the party as we go) Strixhaven College: Quandrix Personality Summary (put in spoilers):
Malky has always dreamt of working for the Atreus family as an advisor. But he’s never been magicallyinclined as one might say. He has instead spent most of his life finding ways to simulate, or imitate the arcane through science. This makes him a very curious person, always looking for answers, and more than happy to share what he has learned. This is also why he’s chosen to attended Strixhaven, to learn more and see how the study of math in the Quandrix college can help further his ability to harness the powers around him through science. As a gnome he’s also a rather jovial and talkative person, though is still looking to find himself in the world, but that can be said for all people of university age.
Preferred Player Name and Pronouns: Plaque works, he/him/they/them D&D Experience: About 5-6 years at this point, with play by post being a good chunk of that Character Name: Alice Albeorix Character Race/Lineage: Half-elf Character Class: Sorcerer, not sure about the subclass yet. I'd love to to WIld Magic with more frequent surges and a better table! Strixhaven College: Silverquil Personality Summary (put in spoilers):
This depends on the subclass to some extent, as I think the bloodline determening their nature can be fun. I am between two personalities that are similar in some ways and different in others.
The first one is your usual cocky and naturally talented witch. She is a sorcerer, which means she never really had to try to be good at magic. She is extremely self-confident and that backfires sometimes, when that happens, her immense force of personality is always there to help her out. At heart though, I think she wants to escape the constraints of familial expectation and leave the image if someone who is good at everything all the time behind. She does get in her own way with that a lot.
The second one is basically a variation of that. I'm thinking a lazy trickster! She is magically inclined so she doesn't try in classes, and instead spends her time employing her magic to mess with people. This is probably for Wild Magic specifically, her magic would be fun and uncontrollable. Her biggest fear here would be harming people she likes by accident, thus naturally her desire is to have more control over her powers.
Preferred Player Name and Pronouns:D&D Experience: Stark (she/her), only 5e experience over the last couple years but have immersed myself completely. Character Name: Bryella Fireforge Character Race/Lineage: Hill Dwarf Character Class: Cleric Planned Build (if any): Grave Domain Strixhaven College: Witherbloom Personality Summary (put in spoilers):
Bryella is a spitfire. They say it comes from her Aunt who was well known for getting into fights due to her mouth. So far Bryella has been smart enough to stay out of fights, but she knows she has been close. She likes having fun and tries to enjoy life to the fullest. When it comes to life and death matters, however, it is different. Her entire demeanor changes to a very serious Bryella. These matters are so important to her, they deserve complete concentration and are not laughing matters in her opinion. She yearns to learn more about these things and is very excited to enroll in Strixhaven
Each character has to be able to use some form of magic by level 3 (not counting anything learned through their background or race)
Does spell casting granted by feats (such as Magic Initiate, Fey Touched, or Strixhaven Initiate) count, or is it just class-based casting capability?
Magic gained through feats (excluding the one taken through your background) counts as a form of magic.

So much for a Witherbloom Way of Mercy Monk. ;)
Would the Arcana domain for a cleric (Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide) fly? Seems thematic, but it's outside the auto-allowed books you mentioned.
Also, the variant Tieflings from Tome of Foes?
Trying to thin out the possibilities bouncing around before fleshing out completely.
Yes, thanks for asking. Both of those would be allowed.

Name & Pronouns: Chris(He/Him) D&D experience: 3-4 years now as both a DM and Player
Character name: Vialyn
Race/Lineage: Owlin
Class: Monk
Planned build: Astral self
College: Quandrix
Personality:
Vialyn has a large inferiority complex. She isnt the smartest person in the world, and doesnt generally know much, but she tends to notice connections between things. She often likes to use this to pretend like she knows more than she does. When she gets the feeling of being less than others, or not enough, she tends to attempt to suppress the feeling, eventually leading to it building to an overwhelming level, causing her to lash out. She tends to try to help those around her, as it usually makes her feel a bit better. Despite her feelings of comparing herself to others, she tends to be extroverted and outgoing
Enethia is running a library, Kalnor is with one of his friends(Likely Mithris), Mali is making an elixir, Asari is sad, Ink is dying in Kalnoia, Nox is dead, Zal is eating cheese fries, Tefeerinn is experiencing fuller life, Shardia is watching the safehouse, Mabij is prepping for a trial, Hrakor is running from prophesy, Viperitahk is locked in a strange battle, Void is watching, Redd is writing all of these. See the EXTENSION for the rest
You can call me Mingo, and my pronouns are they/them. I've played D&D since the early 1980s, through college, when I took a break until my kids wanted to play, and I haven't stopped since. I DM for an IRL group (is Zoom/Roll20 IRL, really?) and play a lot of asynchronous D&D here on the forums and on Discord. I live for the roleplaying, fwiw.
Character Name: Tuuli Character Race/Lineage: Air Genasi Character Class: Rogue Planned Build (if any): Arcane Trickster Strixhaven College: Prismari Personality Summary (in a spoiler):
Tuuli is a disaster. She's happy, bright, sarcastic, a heavy drinker, a hopeless romantic, and a true friend. She's agile, slim, pretty, striking, and a doofus. She feels deeply, but doesn't overthink things. She's just looking to get by, to live a good life, to have things she wants and stay out of serious trouble. Her heart gets her in trouble all the time anyway, both the part that makes her help people, and the part that makes her fall madly in love over and over again. She's a little bit older than the other students, because this wasn't the path planned for her. She's not a magical prodigy. Her "art" is card tricks and sleight of hand. She's here on some sort of weird scholarship she doesn't really understand, from a long lost uncle/benefactor, so she's not of this world. But that doesn't mean she doesn't want to be here. On the contrary, she embraces this life, and expects it to embrace her back.
Her family aren't genasi, she was a surprise. She's attracted (romantically, I see the PG-13 and embrace it) to people with traditionally feminine traits. I fully respect player boundaries and do not expect to have her attracted to any player characters. That is... fraught. I love her, and I trust you will love her, too.

Ace is a male human with green hair, which he dyed and will occasionally dye it other colors as well, and yellow eyes. He's confident in his own abilities, but will take any advice he is given to heart. He is constantly seeking to improve himself, believing that it is better to strive for greatness and fail then to never have tried at all. He is friendly to most people, but can become very competitive in certain situations. His cockiness tends to get him into trouble, usually through attempts to due things he can't do going wrong. He trains hard despite this, and hopes to make things better for those around him. He loved the artistic nature of Prismari, working towards joining the college, and eventually got in on a scholarship (Very similar to sports scholarships, tell me if that wouldn't be a thing), learning minor spells associated with the college before the beginning of the school year came.

That is... fraught. I love her, and I trust you will love her, too.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he).
Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. Here's my D&D stuff. I love it so.
Campaign links for Game Log access because DDB has abandoned the forum dice roller, apparently.

Preferred Player Name and Pronouns:A=My names is Alaric, and my prefered pronouns are He/him, though if you want you can also do They/them
D&D Experience: For the past 4 years i've been playing. I also have 2 years worth of DMing experience, and have ran 3 campaigns for my group
Character Name:Ace
Character Race/Lineage: Variant human (Is the feat allowed? If not, normal human)
Character Class: Fighter
Planned Build (if any): Either eldritch knight, or multiclassing to something like warlock. Depends on how things go
Strixhaven College:Prismari
Personality Summary (put in spoilers):
D&DBeyond Character Link (if any):None, can't make this character on D&Dbeyond due to technical issues

Putting together a Tiefling Bard; I think the two of us could be the Margo & Elliot of Strixhaven. ;)
