Landee happily serves you all as you find your places at the bar. He continues to fill glasses until you ask for no more knowing what all of you had faced and wanted to forget so you didn't have nightmares again tonight.
You're all pretty quiet as you drink in your reverie, thinking how awful and terrifying it would have been to actually have been changed into one of those fey creatures. And praying that destroying the pond area where they crossed over was enough to keep Vermeillon safe.
Lukas has a large grin on his face as you entered his establishment, but notices the demeanor immediately and decides chatter can wait till the morning. He serves you all up a hot bowl of stew and hands out keys. Answering any questions you might have and adding there will be a large breakfast waiting for you at 8, don't be late!
.....
Night passes with the new moon and it is peaceful back in Maerin. Day breaks....
She nods at Elirion's suggestion and takes as many ears and incisors from the gnolls as she can...
Tastie still doesn't eat the stew. But she'll eat some breads and cheeses and any sweets that Lukas can muster.
"Hey Lukas! That place was pretty messed up. We put some flowers on your wife's grave. I think she said "thanks!" I also was flying. And why in the world did you send the kid after us? Did you know there were, like 5 tigers that nearly killed us on the way? And have you seen those things they look like weird insect creatures. Gross!" When Tastie gets her food she disappears somewhere to eat.
Gabin walks over to Lukas and reaches a hand into his pocket. He pulls out the locket from the tree and holds it out. "Here, I managed to get this for you"
While you all trickle down the stairs and join each other in the common room, you notice Landee and Lukas deep in conversation. Takes a bit for them to notice you, and when they do, Lukas says to Landee, "Just hold on a bit, let me talk to them." he brushes his hands on his bar towel, seems to gather his thoughts then wanders over to where you all are gathered.
He clears his throat before starting, "I am very glad to see you all back in one piece. And I thank you for the locket, that is something I never thought I would see again," he wipes a tear from his eye. "While you were gone, I was visited by the florists, I believe you met her?, well her husband. You see, he has been very interested in reopening the mine and asks myself and Astra questions on Vermeillon all the time." he pauses a bit, trying to see if any of you have anything to add at this, seeing none, continues "He admitted to me that he sent letters to individuals who were asking around about Vermeillon, those that appeared to want to either help or figure out the mystery, any reason to go to Vermeillon. He sent them to get you all moving apparently here. When he told me his story, I got worried about you all. Actually, I was going to go out and try and assist you, but Landee saw what I was doing and somehow convinced me to let him go in his place." he shakes his head and looks over at Landee, "He tells me you all saved his life out there. I can't thank you all enough. I...I don't know what else to say," he looks down and starts wringing his towel, "But thank you all. You're all welcome here anytime."
And with that Landee starts serving breakfast and drinks, encouraging you all to tell Lukas the stories of the last couple days/nights and enjoy the rest of your stay in Mauren
Thank you all for your contribution to this story. I hope you enjoyed it, it was a one shot from the Candlekeep adventures, with some extra things I added. Sorry for dropping off at the end, I think I will stop being a DM for the time being. All your characters were so well played though, so that was a hard decision - I really enjoyed reading the comradery between you all. As for probably the remaining question (feel free to ask more if you have them) those that did not receive a letter, you were not openly asking about Vermeillon so the florist's husband didn't know you. You received information by other means. Thanks again and I hope to see you all around the forums!
