Bryella watches as her new acquaintances start off following Amber to the tavern, "Hey guys, have fun. After the time we've spent already, I'm going to head to the Hall of Oracles and see if I can get another schedule. And I HATE being late. I'll save you all a seat though! Let me know how coffee tastes! what a weird word..." and she trails off. Then she continues her offkey song and skipping.
“So do you guys have a school you want into?” ask Tulli. “I’m all about Witherbloom. They’re perfect for me! Nature, plants and fungus, dead things. It’s going to be hard to wait a whole year to officially join.”

“Silverquill,” Amber says. “My mom says oratory and rhetoric are very important to my future career.”
Noey glances back at Rhydian, who hasn’t answered yet. “No… I mean, but this school is a haven for tricksters, right? Tricks-haven?” She gives a half-hearted smile, but it droops. “Honestly, none of them really sounded like they were for me, but Prismari’s the elemental one, so?” She gives a twirl, her floaty hair floating, and shrugs.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. Here's my D&D stuff. I love it so.

"Oh, what career is that?" Tulli inquired. "I've got a druid order waiting for me when I graduate. I've never really thoughts about anything than that other than being a herbalist like Mother."

“Law or diplomacy,” Amber says casually. “It’s what most people in my family go into. You can see why Silverquill is perfect for that.”
"Ooohhh, I can respect diplomacy!" said Tulli. "The druids I'm going to join, the Green Parliament, do a lot of that. They try to keep the peace between the various peoples who live in the High Forest." A twinge of sadness danced across the teen's face. "They...recommended I 'pursue other skills.' I'm...not great with people."

“Don’t worry,” Amber reassures her. “No one’s good at everything.”
"Most likely Silverquill for me as well, although Prismari has some appeal. But they seem so...dramatic all the time. Interesting how many of you have paths picked out by your families. This could be an opportunity to learn what you want for your life rather than what others want for you."
“Girls tend to follow the path of least resistance more often when it comes to family pressure,” Amber tells him with a straight face. “Peer pressure too, to some extent.”
Amber has been reading Gender Theory and the Multiverse 😊
Noey snorts, “Whatever. My mom’s a Judge and my sister’s a Lawmage Justiciar and I’d like to see anyone suggest they took the path of least resistance to get there. They are also both pretty annoying to get along with, but that’s cause they’re stick in the mud jerks, not because they’re strong women.”

Amber shrugs. “I meant teens, not adults, but whatever. Don’t get all bent out of shape. It’s just a book I read on the way over here.”
Amber actually does lean in to Noey kind of interested. “Were your mom and her sister elected or was it an inherited position? In my family everything’s inherited.”
“It’s a job, I guess? I mean, my mom’s pretty high up, but Lilla could probably get fired if she did something wrong. Not that she would ever do anything wrong,” Noey says with a little bitterness, but she shrugs it off with a grin. “There’s a lot of currying favor that goes on, at least judging by the number of fruit baskets we get on the holidays, but it’s definitely not inherited.”

Amber grins back. “Getting fruit baskets can be fun.”
*In my mind I picture Amber and her family as being like old French ancien regime aristocrats and Noey and her family as being like the Kennedys. Is that weird?*
Fruit baskets? Those are for FANCY people! thought Tulli. I'm just a girl from the woods. Am I really going to be able to fit in here? I've hardly ever visited taverns before. Mother forbade me from going to the ones in town. Not that I would have been welcome..,
A hand drifted to the stuffed rat attached to Tulli's bag. She gave toy a squeeze and felt slightly better.

“This way,” Amber agrees happily.
(Amber already visited Strixhaven once with her mom and she has a very high INT, so she remembers where a lot of stuff is.)

“Plenty of tricksters here,” Amber says with a laugh.
