You make your way across the cavern floor. No one detects any sign of movement. The stream running across the floor of the chamber makes enough gurgling and splashing sounds to cover any noticeable sounds of movement. As some of you approach the rock outcropping that the light is coming from, you hear a faint tinkling and pinging sound like metal bouncing against stone.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Petmailer sticks to the shadows but approaches close enough to see what is making the noise. (If it is Jimjar and Eldeth, Petmailer will send a message to them saying, “We’re here, did you miss us?”)
Jimjar says "What..? Oh, hey! They're here. I told you they'd find us. That's ten gold pieces you owe me." He goes over and picks up for copper and silver pieces he had been pitching against the wall.
Eldeth glares at him, but gets up and peers around the rock that is shielding them from view to look for you all.
Tanis moves forward out of the darkness to clasp hands and forearms with Eldeth, a smile warming his pale face.
He meets her eyes and repeats the first words he had ever said to her, back in the cell. "Eldeth Feldrun. When darkness imprisons us, we stand together."
He grins at Jimjar and pokes the deep gnome's shoulder. "And I still owe you a gold piece if we get to Darklake safely. I know you remember."
"Semuanya tests our resolve and trust. She challenges us with lessons that the youngest warriors learn; She knows we must learn them now, before darker days come." He stops preaching generally and focuses on Jimjar and Eldeth, "It is good that you trusted in our word, and we in yours. We are nearly whole again, but our lost member does not wish to reunite... at least, the parasite of his soul does not. He will be tough to find. A setback for us."
He looks around in his bubble of light and asks the Gnome and the Dwarf, "Have you seen rooms of carved stone on your way here? Perhaps Semuanya still has gifts for us, or perhaps she only hoped to teach us by leading us here."
Eldeth stands and clasps hands with a number of you, clearly relieved to have found the party again. "We've done a lot of skulking about and laying low. Thankfully we encountered nothing. It was fairly easy to find this shaft. We've explored a bit of it. Unfortunately, it appears the upper portions have collapsed over the centuries. There doesn't appear to be a way to the surface. We have found some strange stonework that might indicate something fell here, or crashed and helped cause this rift. We've just been waiting on you guys. What did you encounter?"
Still very happy to have found Eldeth and Jimjar, Tanis swallows his disappointment that there does not appear to be any clear egress to the surface.
Darkness is not so easily escaped, Tanis. To gaze again on the wan light of the Icewind Dale sun, you must first pass beneath the deepest of shadows...
He swallows, unnerved. Unsure of whether he is talking to himself inside his head or someone or something else is. He answers Eldeth:
"After the cave-in, the only path we had was a new opening, apparently to a temple that had been long sealed. Infested with oozes, mostly hostile, but one gelatinous cube who was actually both sentient and friendly, going by the name Glabbagool. Different from the malevolent sentient ooze back in the waters below Velkynvelve who spoke 'Flesh for the Faceless Lord' in our heads. In any case, water was flowing in through cracks, pooling and rising. We were unable to explore much before we had to find a way out or drown, swimming through the water and up to an underground river which Shuushar believes leads to Darklake. But we came upstream first here to meet you at the rift as you had suggested. I take it you have not seen Sarith?"
"If there is no path to the surface here, I would be fine retracing our steps now and moving on to Darklake. Though I am guessing some here, at least Fargas, wish to search for the lost tomb that I think he had described earlier. I will abstain and go with what the group decides."
"Safety is the most important thing, but remember that danger now can mean more safety in the future. I know nothing of tombs, but I know that we have come here for a reason. If there is something powerful in the tomb, it may help us in the future."
"I am fine going in to check out this place, or in heading back to Darklake." Vethna speaks up, giving the dwarf and gnome a friendly smile as she steps into the lighted area herself. "Well met my friends, I am glad we found you." She does not step forward for hand clasps or hugs, figuring that those things would not be accepted from one like herself anyway. "Which ever way the group wishes to go from here, I will be glad to scout the way ahead."
Petmailer speaks up and says “I for one would like to look for the tomb that Fargas mentioned. Perhaps there are some clues there as to what is happening here. I too will go in whichever direction the group decides, but that would be my vote.” He looks to Jimjar and Eldeth, “So, no sign of Sarith here? Did you see him at all?”
Phodoxia looks relieved as well to have found Eldeth and Jimjar in so little peril. "Good, you're safe! Let's head back to Darklake while we still can!"
Vrah looks around the group, "We should head to lake and then decide from there. That way those who don't want to continue can head to city for safety and the rest can venture from there. If we come across lost crypt we can check it out on the way. However isn't there some type of ruins nearby that fell from surface? Should we see what is in there, possibly some supplies?"

Tanis draws and nocks, body relaxed in the darkness to begin sending arrows at any threat he perceives.
Staying to the rear, just within his 90' darkvision range of the outcropping. Hoping against hope that somehow, it is Eldeth and Jimjar.

"That is Jimjar. Listen, he bets his metal coins against Eldeth."
Vethna moves quietly up to have a look at what is causing the sound.

[ooc] I'm on a long road trip to a conference this week, so we'll need to pause for a few days before we start the next action.
