As the title stats, I am a newer DM looking to start a Pbp. I have one other player looking to enjoy D&D for the first time. I would like to find 3 or 4 other players to round out the group. Drop a description of the character you would like to bring to the table. I will leave this open for a few days and pick the crew I would like to help lead on this adventure.
Well hello :) I'm torn between two character concepts, so I will either jump into whatever the party needs or what the DM would prefer:
Lynistra Stormchaser: A brash pariah and runaway from a well-to-do family of high elves. Lynistra (or Lyn for short) was always a bit too hot-blooded and raw for her family of diplomats and mages. While being taught magic and politics, Lynistra dreamed of combat and warfare. After running away from home, her wiles and quick wit brought her into service with a mercenary group. Though she prefers martial prowess, Lyn can't seem to escape her magical heritage.
Stone: Raised as a monk within the Monastery of Eight, Stone took his name when he came of age and joined the Order of Earth; one of the eight orders within the Monastery. His name was more than a homage to bedrock as the elf was unfaltering, impassive, and stoic in personality. Though reclusive, Stone left his people and set out into the world. Many speculate wanderlust, but a few whispers hang in the wind that say he seeks penance for deeds committed.

Characters:
Grishkar Darkmoor, Necromancer of Nerull the Despiser Kelvin Rabbitfoot, Diviner, con artist, always hunting for a good sale Bründir Halfshield, Valor Bard, three-time Sheercleft Drinking Competition Champion, Hometown hero
Lothar (Human Fighter) - Lothar comes from a secluded community in the Earthspur Mountains that has been ravaged by marauding orcs. His whole family and clan has been destroyed, and he has become nomadic. His goal is to earn glory for his clan and people and has a huge distaste for orcs and goblins. His people have a bit of giant blood mixed in, so Lothar is larger than normal and has a short temper. His loyalty to his goals and friends is second to none. He has no need for material wealth, but aims to strengthen his skills to some day take revenge on the band of orcs that hurt him.
I'd certainly be interested! Also, hello to Barlow again!
I'd like to throw in Hardi Dayhammer. Once he was a law enforcer as a City Guard for Neverwinter. After experiencing too much cruelty on the job, he turned to the church for a reprieve. He turned to the light of Pelor (or whomever the god of light/sun is for your pantheon) for comfort and support. Hardi definitely found the support he sought, gaining access to divine magic! Now he wields his hammer not for the law of Man, but for the justice of The Divine!
I'm also offering my Shadow Sorcerer, Sarenas! Of noble birth and blood, his pedigree is undeniable. Even still, his father has forced him out into the world to gain experience and knowledge. His fortune and title are just at his fingertips, but Sarenas cannot inherit them until he has proven himself a wiser, more noble man.
I wold like to Play a dragonborn Paladin oath of devotion. His Patron Would be Bahamut.
Adrex Argenthrixus: He was a soldier, a medic. After a fight where he lost many friend on the Field, he wanted to change something. To help more the People who need it. He wanted to See the gratitude of the People. He Decide to follow Bahamut and his teachings. He swore an oath on Bahamut that he would protect the weak and help where he could. Now he's on his way, looking for people who need his help.
he Would be more the protective sort of character.
I would love to join this, if possible. I am willing to play any character of any class, alignment, gender, or race, with little exception, so if you are needing a specific thing, I'd be happy to do it and/or make a character sheet for it.
However, here is a character idea that I have a character sheet for already:
Fontaine Vague, the Human (variant) Rogue.
Fontaine is about 26 years old. When he was younger, he was part of a pirate's crew, but struggled with his conscience, and eventually decided that it wasn't the place for him. He left the crew, and was captured almost immediately by a Paladin, who (fortunately for Fontaine) followed the Oath of Redemption, and could see that Fontaine might be swayed to be a truly good person, even if Fontaine didn't see it in himself. The Paladin let Fontaine go, and now Fontaine seeks fame and fortune, by honourable means this time.
He believes strongly in redemption and honor, but struggles with pride and a desire for fame.
He'd be a part damage dealer, part face of the party if necessary.
A high pitched voice comes from below. "Excuse me. Ahem. Yes, I hear that you are looking for a healer, and I... I am looking for a way out of this town." As you glance down, you see large eyes and a shock of gold hair. Those green eyes glance down at the pieces of wood and wire that the lightly tanned hands are twining together. He looks back up at you and continues, "I have some experience treating patients, but I have seen these walls starting to stare back at me. I am tired of children, Glittergold love them, their runny noses and whiny sounds. I did not spend years learning how to heal just to be penned in by wood walls. I really would like to get out of here and help those in greater need. The sick will always be with us, but adventurers are seemingly in short supply in this quaint little town. Speaking of smaller things, I know my appearance may not be intimidating and I may not be as quiet as a mouse, but I am stalwart and am good at the stew pot over an open flame on a cold misty morning. If you've got a few minutes, I can grab my armor and shield and meet you outside. Oh, and if you have a fighter that likes to carry on... turning a knights day of fighting into a nights fighting day, I can get him, or her, up and running and even keep the after hours tickle brawls from affecting performance, if you know what I mean." He winks with a cheeky smile. "Dalrick Knacklewocket at your service," he amends with a quick harrumph, "sorry, I meant to say that earlier. Well, good day to you, if you must be going, but if not, I'll be going and packing... what say you?" The small gnome's fingers finally still as the question hangs in the air.
Hello! This sounds like a lot of fun -- I haven't yet been able to try my hand at PBP and have been hoping to for a while, and I've heard such good things about this module. I'm very open in terms of characters and am entirely willing to be flexible -- I've only been playing 5e for a couple years, and only in a couple campaigns in that time, so there's so much I haven't yet explored -- so I'm happy to adjust at will. But here's a (vague outline of a) character I've been interested in trying out:
Thyria, half-orc Druid. Raised by wood elves for as long as she can remember, it never much occurred to her how she would be perceived in the world outside their nomadic existence until she first set foot in a city. It was remote; orc-like creatures rarely reached their borders, and when they did it was generally with blade and fury combined. (More often than not, it meant death.) But the family who raised her never made her feel out of step; they were a clan devoted to the protection of the natural world, to balance. She learned peace, gentleness, how to calm the rhythm of her breathing; she learned to admire the creatures that filled the land and air and sea around her. But things have changed somewhat since her youth; betrayed by one she called brother, she was forced to flee from the only home she'd known and has spent the last little while traveling alone, relying only on the generosity of nature to provide -- and so it has. Though her impulse to trust has been somewhat tempered, it has not eroded completely; two decades of learning cannot so easily be undone, even by hate.
I would love to join this campaign, but will not be able to make my character using the character builder. If accepted, I will PM you the details.
Sha Wytedrake, White Dragonborn Paladin: Sha Wytedrake struggles to keep alive his outdated concept of honor in a land filled with greed and lust for money.
Sha Wytedrake was born in the Northern Wastes, a frozen tundra in the north of Kara-Tur. He and his mother lived in solitude, farming coarse vegetables from the cold earth. Sha was but a child of ten when the raiders came, a brutal horde of orcs and crazed men that wished only to harm other beings. His mother was brutally slain before his eyes by Darmugu Bloodbane, the feared orc chief of the band. In a fit of drunken favor, however, Sha was spared by the mighty orc, a move he swears the brute will regret. Left on his own, Sha made the difficult and perilous journey to the nearest city, a distance of 500 miles away. He was found outside the closed gates by a wandering monk named Kai Kami, who trained him in the way of peace and battle. At age eighteen Sha left the monastery, and swore an oath to ancient draconic gods that his mother taught him to serve, and now, twenty years later, Sha still wanders the land delivering justice and acting with honor. Yet beneath a kind facade Sha still nurses his scars and swears he will someday find the orc the call Dramagu!
I'm interested in joining this game. I'm willing to change my character later, but my current idea is a human (variant) monk from Candlekeep.
Darion Alms was found as a baby outside the gates of Candlekeep. He was raised by the acolytes, and taught their ways, but although he tried to keep their teachings, they found he was too impulsive to make a good student. As a result, although he wanted to learn magic, his teachers taught him only a couple of basic rituals. They decided that Darion should leave Candlekeep for a while, and explore the outside world, and when he returned, hopefully having learned a lesson from his travels, they would teach him more. And so, Darion left Candlekeep, meditating and praying to Oghma often, but finding himself acting without thinking far more than his tutors would like.
It seems you have a few offers already, I will throw my hat into the ring as well.
Introducing Matrik. An orphaned Protector Aasimar, Divine Soul Sorcerer. Raised in a Temple of Helm Matrik now adventures the Land helping those who are need in need, as he was helped so many years ago.
It's a character I've been wanting to try and have at the ready in the Builder.

Eider, Level 13 Human Abjurer Wizard - Colosseum of Conquest (11W-3L) (Tougher than he looks)
Hello! This sounds like fun, and I haven't gotten to try this yet!
The character I'd like to bring is Sorros, who is a Tiefling Monk! He is obsessed with documenting and recording the history of the land, and while fighting in self-defense one day he noticed that he was pretty good at it, so he continued to train and get better. His main objective is still to document everything but he will take quests for the coin and for the new places it can take him to document.
I wish you the best of luck in your DMing journeys! I wish I could join this campaign, however I sadly probably don't have enough time for it. Have fun and may you roll well!

Horatio Hirschfeld - Squire imbued with fae powers, in the Coliseum of Conquest (W2/L1) DM for Reavers of Harkenwold, and sometimes The Fighting Grounds of the Coliseum
Would love to play in your campaign. I have a character concept I'd like to bring to a game. A very against type character. A goliath life cleric. A big powerful goliath who is sort of a pacifist. He'll fight if he has to or to defend the helpless but he is devoted to healing first. He seeks non violent means to resolve problems. He is generous and kind and has taken vows of chastity and poverty. He only owns what he can carry. If you'll have me I'd like to play with you as my dm this time! I'm an experienced player and would love to join your new player and share in their first experience!
Never done a play by post before but sounds fun and good for my schedule, looking to play an Protection Aasmir pally, using a homebrew oath of the raven queen, I am remaking a character I started in a pathfinder campaign that the DM gave up. I do have experience more as a DM than player in 5e but I know 5e pretty well. After adventuring for a number of years with the group that became her family, it became time to find a cure to the blood curse that has been slowly threatening to dive her insane, with the help of her new brother the half-orc Rav, Lunacia sought out a cure and found her way to a temple of the Raven Queen and after conversing with the sole acolyte at the temple, then communing together the Raven queen saw fit, after the life Lunacia spent as a White Necromancer attempting to ensure the natural flow of life to death and unknowingly serving the Raven Queen's interests, to allow Lunacia a chance to be reborn cleansed of the curse of the undead blood that has cursed her family since her ancestor Lily first became a Vampire, so long as she would swear an oath to champion the Raven Queen's cause and Lunacia happily agreed. The ritual that was performed took her life and with the reincarnation spell and the blessing of the Raven Queen she was reborn no longer the cursed half elf and stripped of her former powers, takes up the mantle of a paladin of the Raven Queen.
If the race or the oath are an issue I can make changes to them but that's the basic concept, also here's the details for the oath I'm wanting to use http://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/rkM7uueqx
I'm interested! I'm a 3E old schooler, but I've recently been getting into 5E and want some more experience as a player before I too take the plunge to DMing.
I usually prefer non-caster types. So I'm eager to strike or tank for the group, but I can play dedicated or partial casters as well. I've built a cleric, druid, blood hunter, ranger, and barbarian already, so I've got versatility in basic crunch and play style.
I'll hold out on delivering a character concept until I know more about the campaign and setting. I like to build something that integrates with the story, and I'm posting from my phone right now, which is a bit brutal.
I would be happy to join your group if you'll have me. I can and will play just about anything but i do have a concept i would like to try out that I've been sitting on for a while.

She again considers once again leaving the big city streets she grew up on, but what lays upon the horizon of adventure? She must think it would be better to seek out her heritage than to be starving in the streets."
