EMERIA: "You've been a wonderful host, allowing me to stay here. You've done more than enough. If you wish to provide further aid, my gratitude would be immeasurable, but I don't want to pressure you into doing so. If you assist us, you will receive payment like everyone else."

"And that day, a red rain fell from the sky here."
To Emeria: "it was my pleasure to be acquainted with you and your fellows, my teachings would not let me leave this matter alone." He peers towards the statue, "but of course, some gold will be good for this place. You are free to reside in this chapel until we return, if you wish to."
Back to the group, Qazka claps his hands together and announces happily, "I shall join your quest then, excuse me for a moment."
He walks toward the other end of the wall and circles behind the statue. From the obscured wall space, he dismounts a battleaxe and a shield. In quiet Celestial, he speaks towards the statue, "well. Seems like I have a job far from here. I don't know what you are up to. Take care?" Qazka then takes a few steps into the central space before the statue and rests the axe upright on the ground, blade end down, and places his hands atop the pommel. He clears his throat, "Shortly, we shall depart. Blessed be the... what would you call this? Righteous? Anyhow, may our journey be safe. May the guidance be with us."
He rejoins the group and says simply: "I am ready."
(ooc: I'll be a bit busy over the weekends and might not have time to post, just assume Qazka's hanging around lol)
((OOC: Yeah Zemnian actually, but a certain popular live stream 5ed game pretty much made the Zemnians in that world have German accents and Germanesque food))
EMERIA: "Thank you all for this. It means a lot to me. Jameson, I can supply you with an empty notebook and my spare bottle of ink if you wish. Where do you all plan to begin looking?"
Time of Day: 11:04 AM
OOC: Apologies, McDougal, I had initially missed your question. I was going to manage equipment by default, but if you'd rather do it, that's fine. Just let me know.
EMERIA: "The castle is four miles directly south of Belfrem. However, you'll need to pass through the Svalich Woods. It's easy to get turned around there, and the road is not always easy to see. No one travels through Barovia, save for those nomads, so the roads are quite overgrown."

"And that day, a red rain fell from the sky here."
Qazka would let Lethia push him out, and comments on what Emeria said: "oh, that's not terribly far."
Before they leave town, Qazka will leave a message to a few townsfolk on the way out that: he will be gone for a while, but anyone is still welcome to visit the chapel if they'd like--- and let the message reach others through conversation. He won't lock up the place, there's nothing to steal anyway.
Emeria disappears into her bedroom for a minute, before returning, wrapped in a thick, bearskin cloak.
EMERIA: "While you take a look at the castle, I will be searching the slopes of the mountains in the region. I heard rumor of more ruins there. Onward, then."
As you all step out of the comfort of the chapel, the horrid cold sets in again, already at work stripping the heat from your bones. The muddy streets of Belfrem are empty, save for some children playing games, bundled up in so many layers that they could easily pass as members of a shorter race rather than human children. The sky is still overcast by a smooth layer of grey clouds, so that you can't distinguish one cloud from another. The Sun, blocked enough by the clouds so that you could look at it without consequence, has already passed its zenith.
Once outside, Elzah leads the party south, per Emeria's instructions. The cold doesn't seem to bother Elzah much and she keeps a quick pace.
She scans the sky and turns to the group with a somber and knowing expression, "Given the time of year, we have about five or six hours of daylight left." With that, she turns and trudges off into the forest.
Emeria moves between Qazka and Elzah, answering Qazka's question before Elzah has a chance to speak.
EMERIA: "Barovia is four miles from here. At this pace, you'll reach the castle in a couple hours. I will be investigating the ruins in the mountains, so I will leave you five soon after we reach the border."
As you continue further into the forest, the wind slowly quiets down, giving way to an gloomy silence, save for the cawing of a crow in the distance. It quickly becomes evident that this path is seldom traveled. There are no wagon tracks that you can see, and the forest undergrowth has clearly been making its way onto the road for some time. Emeria shifts around the group as you trudge through the mud and leaves, sometimes at the front, sometimes at the back. She seems to be examining each of you. Eventually, she moves to Jameson's right and begins walking alongside him.
EMERIA: "Jameson, was it? I couldn't help but notice that you seem to be quite the detective. I'm curious: are you a professional?"
Jameson is quiet through the trip, simply exhaling from time to time as he struggles to ignore the cold. It doesn't matter how many layers I put on, it still seems to bite its way through to my bones.
Grateful for the conversation, he fidgets with the hilt of his rapier, pulling it in and out of its scabbard as he speaks with Emeria.
"I have made somewhat of a career out of it, indeed. I suppose I don't have the look of a professional though; I have no office or base of operations to speak of, though most of my time has been spent in Waterdeep. You may be surprised to know how many crimes and mysteries go unsolved in a populace of that size simply because the City Watch deems them unimportant - especially in the Field Ward, and in the Dock Ward at night, when the Watch and guilds like to pretend that the weight of a man's sins disappear with the rising of the sun."

"And that day, a red rain fell from the sky here."
Nodding to Lethia.
"Ja, I think we can do some good here."
Elzah, through a mouth full of stew, adds, "Love to have you, Qaz, especially if you do the cooking!" And then she shifts her attention to Emeria.
"Will you be coming with us? I'd love to hear more about how you managed to take down a werewolf."
Elzah downs the rest of her stew in one big slurp, slaps the table, and stands up. "I'm excited. Let's do this."

Elzah sniffs, "Shouldn't be a problem. I'll get us there. Does anyone have any business to take care of before we go?"

"Nope!" Lethia starts to subtly push people out the door.

Jameson follows along, walking behind the others as he diligently jots down notes on the previous conversation.

Arklos makes sure his hand crossbow is loose in its holster. He is keeping a close watch on the tree line on either side of the road and up ahead.
