The king looks offended by Tetrevess' question "we live in a swamp and we're being torn apart by an acid spewing flying predator. We have little to offer thst might interest a town-folk."
Samogri is met with warm regards from Bogclaw, but he makes little secret of his general distrust of the smooth-skinned humanoids. "As the prophet foretold, the ancient blood has returned to out land. I do not understand why the greedy warmlings travel with you." Speaking in lizard-specific dialect so only Sam can understand, Bogclaw asks bluntly, "are they bait?"
"Semuanya's blessings are with us, and you're arrival makes clear the need to act with haste. The fateful hour is nigh."
(Samogri, as a cleric of the world serpent, would instantly recognize Semuanya as the lozard-folk specific aspect of the world serpent.)
Looking to Scalesneer, Sam finds him tending to the dead, placing small idols in their mouths. He understands thus to be a measure intent on preventing them from raising ad undead.

Sam and Oli can already post actions. I probably won't map this, as I anticipate a very short encounter and it's a very target rich environment, but the WoWs hide easily in the tall grass, meaning you're not really sure how many there are.

Ori pulls out his hand crossbow and if one is not already within 60 feet, he moves to make a ranged attack. For his attack action he summons a psychic blade and throws it at the closest WoW. He then fires his hand crossbow at the same WoW.
Crossbow Expert: ignore loading prop of crossbows, if use attack action with one handed weapon can use bonus action to fire hand crossbow you are holding
Sharpshooter: long range doesn't impose disadvantage to range attacks, ignore half and 3/4 cover for ranged attacks, before attack if proficient with weapon can take -5 to attack and add +10 damage
Psychic Blade ranged attack, -5 atk, +10 dmg (range 60 ft): 6 (psionic energy die if misses: 7) Damage: 17 psychic
ooc: explaining feats so no one has to question why I am attacking twice, not taking disadvantage for hand crossbow attack, or why my damage is so high for the weapons used
First time rolling 2 d20s in one post. Does it always duplicate the roll when double rolling? No, I guess it wouldn't as the damage didn't duplicate the roll, they were both d6+15.
As Sam's strikes land against the shambling mound, the growth of vegetation flies away, revealing a pike if bones, at least some clearly feom lizardfolk, tangled in a mass of moving predation beneath the veneer of muck and grass. <It's at, like ½ health>
Oli takes out 2 Will o' Wisps (splashover damage, minion rules) several vanish in response (action = invisibility)
You can see about ½ of the 20 or so you saw at first.
<I'm going to say at least someone, probably Sam, knows these are all undead, so you can all know it, as speaking is free and he could and should share that info.>
I have time, so enemies are going. Gotta post when I can. If Alistar rolls high in initiative, can go before monsters next round.

The shambling mound attacks Samogri.

More WoWs attack Tetrevess and Chadderlay, with even more surrounding Bogclaw. Scakesneer remains unscathed for the moment. Perhaps owing to the idols he carries to ward away undead.

As the will-o-wisps rise from the ground a figure exits from the forest. Being held in one of his hands is a large iron lantern that he holds out and in the other a staff.
Oli takes one hit from the Will 'o Wisps in front of him while dodging the others, but sees the spellcasters in danger. He uses Rabbit Hop (does not provoke attack of opportunity, move 25 feet as bonus action) to move to Cadderlay's side and attacks the Will o' Wisps next to him with psychic blades to get sneak attack damage and uses the psychic blade bonus attack to attack again.
ooc: have never used combat dice in chat so not sure about what to put in damage dice and damage modifier. Trying it out down here to see if my guess at what should be entered is correct: Attack: 24 Damage: 11
Just realized I already used a bonus action so I don't get the 2nd attack.
ooc: obviously it take me too long to post messages as I'm so new to PbP. Hambergler's message was not there when I started my post but obviously I didn't finish first. Just wanted to post while I could in case I'm busy later tonight. As the previously newest member of this group, welcome!
Tetrevess’ magical protections keep the wisps at bay -for now. He sizes them up. Trying to figure out what spell to use to avoid his allies- and this newcomer.
(It’s ok if you want to use the campaign log and roll from your sheets- I do both, I find it’s easier to use the sheets usually).
