Angus prays an unfamiliar prayer to the ears of the Mulman who surround him. They pay him no mind as they clamor over the arcane reptile in the fighting pit below. Though invisible to onlookers, a holy light radiates from Angus' solar plexus, extending like a gently pseudopod, not guided by sight, but seeking Sam's soul, undulating on the current of spirits following the signal like a chemotactic beacon, inexorably arching out to meet the great scaled ranger. Upon touching his broad back, Sam's form is enveloped by the phagosomatic radiance and as it does so he feels no fear; quite the opposite, in fact. He feels powerful: as if the world serpent, itself hangs upon his shoulders, encircling his arms, his legs, his every muscle and sinew and feeding its strength directly to its champion, for all that the mighty Ouroboros* represents on this mortal coil, Samogri, the Primus Tyrannus, will defend, will fight, will conquer.
*Ouroboros is a title, but eponymous to this singular entity
shield of faith (+2 bonus to AC for duration, concentration 10 minutes).
Chadderlay is up.
Gravity is up.
If Tesservett gets a chance, were still not sure where Tetrevess is spending the evening. We can start thst as soon as I find out his plans.
<quick aside. If you feel rudderless, like you do t know where you're 'supposed' to go or what to do, that's the sandbox. The mission has been hinted at by two NPCs at least, but it's about to unfurl plainly. Thanks for your patience, though the choice was deliberate. I acknowledge it can be frustrating, especially as pbp stretched things over days and weeks.>
Gravity is still up. She's sitting on a wolf in assassins clothing snd she's been wounded. Halflings lie bloodied on the ground.
Chadderlzy is also up: he's got a guy floating 30ft in the air and the money is now set 1000 to 1 against Sam surviving. The voices in the crowd will tell you as much.
Gravity will disengage to let the transformed wolfbrother move freely. She attempts to settle the dispute by saying, "I didn't mean to disrupt your actions. I just wanted to get involved in the plundering, you know?"She will pick up the woolen cloak soaked in melted ice so that she can equip it. "I consider myself as one of the wolfbrothers too. You wouldn't want to hurt a fellow comrade, would you?"

The human-form wolfbrother stands aghast: "A she-wolf.. brother? Was the name not clear enough? Our blessing will not to be diluted. Have you not the scent? You will never be one of us and you have failed to heed our warnings. You shall not leave this alley alive!"
Both he and the wolf pounce on Gravity:
Short sword: 8 for 6 pierci g and DC 15 for ½ of 25 poison damage
25 for 7 pierci g and DC 15 for ½ of 29 poison damage
Bite: 20 for 6 piercing and make a DC 12 Con save
Claw: 15 for 10 slashing
(Is Gravity taking the wolfbrother's cloak?)
<round 1 to hit with AD was 24 (assassinate), please make a DC15 save against poison for that and either of these shortsword attacks that hit, as well, plus DC12 for the bite if it hits.>
@Legion4 I did answer 'yes' to the war priest ability, but never gave you an verbal answer (left it to the map) re: AoO, which is a 'no' for the 3 thst moved into a line (phalanx) nor does the guy 30ft up (voluntary movement only).
@Legion4 I did answer 'yes' to the war priest ability, but never gsve you an answer (left UT to tbe map) re: AoO, which is a no for the 3 thst moved into a line (phalanx) nor does th guy 30ft up.
@Brian_Avery: there are 3 in a line. See below. I believe I understand your intent.👍
"Whoooaaahhh!" The falling dustman reels as he plummets to the sodden floor, landing upon the adjacent man with a crash and a splash. Both men laying prone, the man farthest in line from the crushed dustman begins to rise toward rhe ceiling "Aaah-aahhh. Sorcery!" He points an angry finger at Sam and hurls his spear at him.
25 for 10
<nice play, thus disrupts their phalanx and removes the +5 AC bonus they each received from it and makes it harder if not impossible for them to surround Sam>
<round 1 to hit with AD was 24 (assassinate), please make a DC15 save against poison for that and either of these shortsword attacks that hit, as well, plus DC12 for the bite if it hits.>
(@Wile_E_Coyote, nope, it's the woolen sweater that belongs to the halflings)
Socket will impose disadvantage on the first attack against Gravity (Deflect Attack: Reaction)
Gravity will cast Shield to deflect the shortsword attack from round 2.
The human-form wolfbrother stands aghast: "A she-wolf.. brother? Was the name not clear enough? Our blessing will not to be diluted. Have you not the scent? You will never be one of us and you have failed to heed our warnings. You shall not leave this alley alive!"
"Yes, I smell the putrid scent of misogynistic sewage!"Gravity grits her teeth in anger while clenching her fists to draw fresh blood. She will attempt to dodge any incoming attacks by taking advantage of her acrobatic skills. "LET ME IN!"
Can she retrieve the gold items from the clutch of the wolfbrother?

Random roll 2 1
Gravity successfully pilfers some of the gold from the discarded belongings of rhe transformed wolf. The grey sky has become overcast and a chill rain begins to fall.
"Silly girl, playtime is over. You think you have what you need to live among us, but you don't know the first thing about our kind." He bares his teeth in a cruel grimace.
From behind him, you see them emerge from the rain: the bright yellow eyes of 3 more black wolves. From behind you, the over the pit-patter splash of raindrops 1 more wolves growl.
In a taunting sing-song, the human-form wolf notes with glee "Rule number one: we hunt ... as a pack."

Having seen Gravity's electric chameleon at work and feeling suitably annoyed with the little nuisance, they set upon it.
Roll a DC 20 Dex save for the steel defender.
<Instead of rolling attacks, I'm treating a wave of wolves as an environmental hazard. On a success, the lizard scales the wall or otherwise scurries away to safety, on a failure, it's ripped apart by wolves. I did the math to make this a player facing mechanic and with any more than 1 wolf it becomes a DC22. Despite that, I'm dedicating 3 wolves to this, making it the environmental hazard i envisioned, leaving 5 wolves and one human to deal with Gravity. If you don'tagree with the destruction, then we csn make it a dog toy that they grapple abd drag away. I'm good with either one - trying to maximize fun here. If it breaks you can fix it in an hour with just 6 seconds of work or else go on a literal fetch quest for it. Alternatively you could just make a new one on a long rest.>
The wolf behind Gravity and the wolf who attacked the halflings pounce on the artificer, Two more at the far end of the alley.
W1 bite: 5 for 5 claw: 5 for 6
W0 bite: 18 for 7 claw: 23 for 5
W6 - bite: 17 for 8 claw: 14 for 5
If any bites land, make a DC 12 Con save.
W* 26 for 5
(Pack tactics negates DA from Dodge)
* human-form
<the homebrew for it on the character sheet does not give it a climb speed, but it appeared here with no fall damage so either it was on the roof with you and climbed down or it just appeared from around the corner, I went with the former. It has a 20ft climb speed now. Additional, they didn't notice it - doesn't smell.like an animal but they should still see it, bit they didn't, because it can camouflage- DC12 static hide check, AD/DA based in environmental factors. Rain would cause DA, since the drops would bounce off of it. Activating takes an action. If you hate these ideas, ignore them, just use them if you want to.>
(To recap, there are three wolves trying to play tug if war with the steel defender, 1 attacking feom behind, two waiting at the far end if the alley, say 40ft away, and the human-form and twin wolf you spotted first attacking Gravity face to face.)
There were less than 4 in a row, so we did the drop one on another, then there are only a different three in a different line.
I'm okay with Chadderly getting to any side of the arena he wants, but he's at least 10 ft overhead; the line can't hit all three of them spread out as they are because it's not parallel to the ground. If it were, it would hit none.
If I had remembered to post the map, this would likely have been avoided, so I'm going to ask for a reconsideration. If the intention is to draw attention, magic use will surely do it, and it won't affect anyone's betting at this point. At least, they wouldn't think so. Not sure yet what Angus will do.
The first random roll was oiw many rounds before the others show up. You tracked them to their headquarters. It's super close. I'll post a map soon. Gravity is up.
Angus rushes to the edge of the arena, climbing over the parapet onto the the outcropping of the tunnel whose gate shut behind Sam as he entered the arena. With a prayer, Angus exudes an aura of vitality, focusing on Samogri and reviving him from mortal slumber.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Chadderly zaps the dustmen with a lightning bolt, killing two instantly.
<½ damage is more than their full hp, no need to roll the save>
The crowd turns ugly. A woman in the stands shrieks in terror as chaos ensues and people start fleeing fir any exit they can find, clearing a wide berth around Chadderly as rhey shout "Run, he's got a wand! Stay low find an exit. Run!"
<These people are super scared of arcane magic. They know the red wizards are here to deal with things from the elemental rifts, but thus guy just fragged two gladiators who just didn't die. They're freaking out>
One man in the crowd draws a sword and stabs Chadderlay "curse ye, Thayan scum!"
Sam can still use that war priest ability.
