Name: Khessa Cabbagefield Race: Human Class (Subclass): Fighter 2 /Wizard 1 -- Progressing with levels, will take Eldritch Knight as figher and Abjuration as wizard. If multiclassing not allowed, will be Fighter 3 Eldritch Knight) Background: Folk Hero Backstory
Khessa was born to a peasant family, in a small village. At the age of 20 she is kidnapped, with her family, during a raid of drow slavers. With some luck she manages to free herself, along with some other slave from her village. After a a dangerous journey in the underground, during which she is forced on several occasions to defend herself in the hostile and unfamiliar environment (risking her life, but also honing her fighting skills), she manages to lead the slaves back to the surface. With her family still lost in drow hands, she becomes an adventurer; she will, when possible, help the defenseless (waiting to be able to help, some day, her family) and will satisfy the curiosity of the world that she had always had…
Both to satisfy her curiosity and to try to win powerful allies to (someday) free her family, Khessa finally arrived at the gates of Whiteridge. While being asked by the guards her business in the city, she were approached by well dressed tiefling man, by the name of Ozemon. He offered her unrestricted access to the city under his name, should her do something in return for him. Khessa could not believe her luck: what if this tiefling could become the first of those powerful allies she would one day need to free her family? So she gladly accepted.
Ch’Kaw grew up among a community of traveller’s with no permanent home, only a convoy of caravans. They did not have a particular leader, but they did have a council of elder’s, the longest serving of which had been Ch’Kaw’s grandfather.
In the regions that they travelled his people were well known for their healer’s, and villagers would look forward to the times when they passed through as it was an opportunity to ask for help for those who were sick or injured.
They were also well known for their practice of the martial arts, honing their minds and bodies and harnessing their inner strength to aid them in their healing.
Unbeknownst to Ch’Kaw until recently, the community also had another purpose which drove them to travel. His grandfather had in his possession an item of great importance. On his death bed, this item was bestowed to Ch’Kaw, but it’s significance had been lost to time.
Ch’Kaw decided to leave the community in search of answers, and having heard of the Magnificent Historian Ozemon who resides at Whiteridge, it was there that he ended up.
I actually have to character's I'd be interested in playing if that's okay?

Name: Mistral Race: Air Genasi Class (Subclass): Barbarian 1/Monk 2 (Open hand) Background: Urchin Backstory
Mistral grew up scavenging the streets with his father. There’s always a diamond in the rough ready to be found or stolen is what he was taught as some don’t appreciate the value of what they have right under their noses. His father used his sleight frame to suit his own needs and ambitions eventually leaving him for an “opportunity”, alone. Joining a youth gang as a teenager he learned the basics of fighting and the importance of having allies for protection while he waited for his fathers return, a wait that proved fruitless and left him filled with resentment. A few years of turf wars and disorganized petty crime eventually led him to pick a fight with a traveling monk who looked to have some interesting goods for the taking. The monk beat him brutally but saw potential in his resolve and persistence and offered him a chance to refine his skills and leave his life of on the streets. Though reluctant his fellow hooligans pushed him into this opportunity as chances like this were rare for folks like them. So he went with his new mentor: traveling, training, learning and refining not only his physical skills but also his mind. It’s been a decade with his master, he’s since completed most of his training, going through the world scavenging and finding diamonds in the rough, giving things, people etc new homes where they can be appreciated as he himself found.
Avys spent his formative years on a trade caravan, going from city to city, seeing the world and learning the ways of business from a young age. He enjoyed his travels and was fascinated by the various craftsmen that he was able to meet. In spite of this, he's always been reserved and at times cold, in truth he never really got a full grasp of the personal side of business leading to intelligent and savy mind to stall in his progress. Eventually, he found himself in a jewelers shop, a dwarven run, well oiled machine of a business, and that's where he found his home. He trained for several decades under his mentor's clan, becoming, by extension, one of them picking up on some of their habits including a short temper and penchant for violent solutions, juxtaposing his calm, polite and calculated demeanor with explosiveness. Soon enough, he was able to imbue his work with the arcane and uses his jewelry, not just as a source of income, but also power and protection.

T’bitha is an exiled Drow, who decided to worship the Goddess Eilistraee instead of Lloth. Her betrothed, D’gardron, discovered her betrayal and turned her in; however, Eilistraee found favor with her and aided her escape. She is now actively hunted by her betrothed to face the Temple of Lloth’s justice. T’bitha was forced to leave the underground she knew so well and seek refuge in the city. Now, working under the tutelage of Ozemon, she peruses the many texts and books placed in front of her in her study. She has been reading, searching for texts explicitly for the item that her mentor has been seeking, until today. Ozemon approached her saying it was now time to leave her study and venture forth to find what he is seeking out in the world. This has her on edge knowing she will no longer have the safe refuge of the Library.
Trott made most of his money by escorting merchant caravans or traveling nobles from place to place. However, he saw no reason why he couldn’t make a little more on the side. Between jobs, he occupied himself by stealing. Being an escort was dreadfully boring and thieving was his way of finding excitement. He’d always found excitement in risk, but lately thieving was starting to become as boring as being a body guard.
Trott’s most recent job brought him to Whiteridge. He had been escorting some kind of scholar. This client told him stories of some kind of lost artifacts, one of which is hidden in the Veiled Forest. Seeing his interest, she told him that she had studied these things under someone named Ozemon. She also told him that this Ozemon was in Whiteridge recruiting adventurers to look for this treasure. Trott, jumping at the opportunity for a change in his current lifestyle, hurriedly accepted Ozemon’s proposal.
Tazielo left his pride at a very young age, his mind set on adventure. He’d led a simple life while safe within his family’s protection, yet he’d always longed for more. Many had insisted he was too young to set out on his own, his mane barely grown. However, he learned fast during his youth, and had become a formidable fighter.
In spite of his abilities on the battlefield, he is a gentle soul. He tends to think things through, sometimes more than is necessary—he would never rush into anything unprepared. He is quick to trust, but also quick to question everything. He also has quite a temper if provoked. His anger is such that no one would guess at his usual gentle nature if they met him while in a rage. (This is quite embarrassing to him, and he usually ends his arguments with repeated apologies, unless he still feels like he was in the right and they in the wrong.) He holds steadfastly to grudges, though he has very few. He may be a paladin, but he does not know what deity he follows, only that whomever it is answers his prayers…or he thinks they answer his prayers…most of the time.
He spent most of his first adventuring years on his own, putting his hunting skills to good use. Eventually he met a traveler (who ended up training him to be a paladin.) After they parted ways, Tazielo set out in hopes of finding an adventuring party who would have him. He has become confident that he will find his new best friends in Whiteridge, and just can’t wait to meet them. When he saw the notice on the job board, he felt even surer than he had before that he would find his party. Surely others would be answering this call. So, he met with Ozemon, and accepted his proposal with excitement…even if he didn’t understand everything that he was told.

Name: Dimitri Kykevas Race: Human Class (Subclass): Rogue (Arcane Trickster) Background: Criminal Backstory:
His mother married for love. But then, love couldn't buy bread.
Dimitri grew up in the slums, a death trap for anyone who hasn’t experienced the danger of it firsthand. Money is what keeps you safe and those who had power influenced the people, as well as a haven of their own. His parents’ rough past is what landed them a home in the slums. His mother, Lillian, was a mage who is from a powerful family. She was beautiful, stunning, stopped men and women in streets; but she left her life behind after falling for Mikel. Dimitri’s father Mikel was a mercenary who lived off of odd jobs, gotten into trouble by a friend of one of his targets who called himself Boss. He harassed them for money and favors, threatening their lives if they didn’t obey. Eventually, they had no choice but to move to the slums, where this individual had all the power he needed to use them as his pawns.
As Dimitri and his older brother Nicholas grew up, they decided it was time to go out and make a name for themselves. Their goal was to ultimately gain some fame and coin in hopes of putting their family in a better place. They’ve heard stories of their father’s old jobs and the few adventures he had gone on so they decided to search for a job similar to that. They searched the local taverns and eventually came across a group of three tough-looking men and overheard them speaking of a job. The brothers approached them and the men asked them if they were interested in coming along, claiming they could use some extra hands and would pay them a gold coin or two for their help. The boys accepted with joy but little did they know, the men worked for the Boss. Nicholas was the first to realize who this man was and immediately stepped up at the meetup, saying how he was a menace and ruining families. Boss laughed in response and mocked Nicholas for being a child, and trying to tell him what he can and can’t do. He said “if you want to order me around, prove you aren’t just a boy”, taking out a shortsword and also stepping up to meet him in the center of the clearing. Dimitri looked in disbelief and before he could stop his brother, the two were fighting.
The fight was short and after a few exchanges of attacks, the unnamed man had pierced Nicholas in the chest with his sword. Nicholas fell to the ground as the three men that had accompanied them began shouting and drew their weapons, charging at the others. While the fight broke out Dimitri went to his brother's side to try and stop the bleeding but he had already passed out. He then drew his dagger and joined in the fight. In the chaos someone had pushed him and he felt his leg break, unable to move and in desperation of seeing his brother fall, he released a fire, some of his mother’s magical inheritance lighting inside of him. He felt the flame catching onto him, the searing, white-hot pain of burning, and heard the screaming. After the fire went out, the Boss was taken out and his brother was dead.
Half dragging, half crawling to home, Dimitri fainted for three days, with burns all over his body and a broken leg. Lillian blamed him for Nicholas’s death, as well as Mikel for getting involved with the thugs in the first place. Lillian was filled with grief and decided she didn’t want to be part of the family anymore. She got a horse and left to presumably return to her family.
From that day on, Mikel fell into a habit of visiting the tavern a little too frequently. Dimitri taught himself to be ruthless, learned to fight, learned to steal. Money was power and power meant safety. Dimitri was out looking for a job when he was approached by a well-dressed tiefling who introduced himself as Ozemon. He claimed he had a job for him if he was willing. He explained how there was something he needed to be retrieved that was of great.
Gunslinger, let's talk privately before I say yes/no.
Tasha's optional race changes are allowed. You should be allowed to play your favorite race in any field. I'm happy with that.
Tasha's optional class changes will be voted on as a group with the players that get selected. Though, the Expanded Spells List is allowed regardless.
Recruitment update
There are some amazing applications here. You guys have succeeded once again in bringing some awesome characters to the table. I am however, going to let recruitment run one more day. So about this time tomorrow I will close recruitment and begin hating myself as I select my players for the table.

Thanks for the clarifications! With that said, FYI with no multi classing, my character proposal Mistral would only be a monk sans barbarian. It was more for story/flavor anyways.
I appreciate the recruitment even if I don’t get selected. I enjoy trying to create new characters to RP. Crossing fingers that I do, but no hate if not chosen. ☺️💕

Hey all! I've done the hardest part of being a DM and I have chosen my players from a list of great characters. Should one of the people I reached out to decline the invitation, or at any time someone drops out of the game, I will return here to see if any of the original applicants are still interested before searching elsewhere for new players.
I'd love to learn who got picked. I've applied twice now with different characters and left out both times and I'd like to learn on what to do differently in future.

The players in my game will be made public when the game goes live. There wasn't anything wrong with Zane. He is a neat character, and so were the other characters who were signed up. It just came down to the fact that out of 12+ people, I had to pick 5 people and say no to the rest.

He prefers keeping his last name hidden as he wants to prove that it wasn't just his name that got him to where he is and that his family should be proud of him.
Hey all! I've done the hardest part of being a DM and I have chosen my players from a list of great characters. Should one of the people I reached out to decline the invitation, or at any time someone drops out of the game, I will return here to see if any of the original applicants are still interested before searching elsewhere for new players.

A Graduation to be Remembered | A Village Bathed in Crimson
I'd love to learn who got picked. I've applied twice now with different characters and left out both times and I'd like to learn on what to do differently in future.
The players in my game will be made public when the game goes live. There wasn't anything wrong with Zane. He is a neat character, and so were the other characters who were signed up. It just came down to the fact that out of 12+ people, I had to pick 5 people and say no to the rest.
