Vars's eyes widen as he sees Reginald pulled away by a large tentacle. He looks down to see Bjorn fighting off the skeleton that had tried to attack him before, and readies his bow to help his friend...he'd intended to move off to the side and away from the hole in the ceiling, but his thoughts prove much faster then his actions. He attempts to dodge the tentacles, but his movement away from one simply lands him in the clutches of the other one. A few air bubbles exit his mouth as the muscular appendages close around him.

Vars is able the slip the grip of one of the tentacles, but the other holds firm and drags him through the hole in the floor of the next level.
Once you clear the hole you see the monster before you. It is a giant octopus that is completely translucent. It is very hard to see, except for the many little glowing orbs you can see working their way through its body. Suddenly you see it expel 4 of them into the large room you are in. You can see the body of Reginald, pulled to pieces. His head having fallen to the cargo hold floor
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Pending something crazy Frangipani does...) Sparhawk, blinded by the ink has an easy task. Three skeletons at 10 o'clock, 12, and 2 at last glance. He puts his strength into his mighty swing with his warhammer, feeling like he will probably hit one of them and crush them with his weapon if he swings in an arc from left to right!
Attack with disadvantage, blunt weapon x2 damage on skeletons Attack: 14 Damage: 12
" You've got these right? I want some calamari.", Frangipani burbled as she burst into a giant green eel and swam through the hole in the roof, gulping down Reginalds head as she did so.
As you zip through the hole you see the rest of Reginalds body and Vars being held tightly in the giant Octopus’s grip. You see some of the glowing orbs floating about and through the octopus transparent skin you can see them being formed.
If Vars can see Frangipani, he will glance down at Reginald's body and back at her to ensure that she is seeing the same thing he's seeing. He also turns his eyes to the glowing orbs, unsure of what they are, but knowing that they are bad news. He mouths, "Tell the others." As best he can, hoping that she can shout or something to let everyone else know what's going on. He can't do so since he's underwater.
Seeing her gulp down their former comrades head sickens him slightly...he knew she talked about eating them...but he hadn't really expected her to actually do so. Well...since she is an eel, that means she can't shout unless she changes back...which means that the others still don't know what is going on. Then he resumes struggling against the tentacle. Now with far more urgency after seeing the body of Reginald torn to pieces...he know's he's likely next.
Just great, Bjorn thinks. The octopus is a damned illusionist. He grabs the gnarled edge of the breach and throws himself back into the hold, into the ink. Staying near the ceiling, he goes towards the octopus, but if he breaks through the ink, he pulls back -- he's trying to approach unseen.
In one hand, he transforms Aegweth into a jeweled dagger, and in the other appears a blade of dripping darkness.
The thought bubbles up, but is muted by the intensity of battle: What in the Nine Hells am I doing? The exit was right there.
I just realized that Vars didn't actually take an action on his turn (unless the strength check counts?). So if its alright, here's what he would like to do (for the one he missed or for this upcoming one).
If he has at least one free arm, Vars reaches back and pulls an arrow from his quiver...his fingers brushing over the shafts quickly until he finds the one with the small string tied to it. Baring his teeth in a half smile half grimace, he grips the poisoned arrow firmly before thrusting it into the appendage that is holding onto him.
(I will wait on rolling damage until I know for sure he can do this. I'm also not sure how we want to rule the damage as he isn't using the bow. I was thinking it would do the same amount of damage as a dart or a dagger for the arrow itself, but I'll let Dwar decide that ;). The poison would remain the same.)

Yeah, you could do that, use dart damage, still got to roll to hit in case you drop it
The inky blackness begins to dissipate in the cargo hold allowing murky visibility. Sparhawk can now see the skeletons as they swing their swords in his direction.
One of the skeletons makes contact with flesh, spilling fresh Sparhawk blood to mix with the ink in the water. Sparhawk notices he is mostly alone, seeing Bjorns feet treading water beneath the hole to the next floor. Sparhawk can also see there is a ladder to the next floor at the aft of the hold where some of the skeletons came from.

Sparhawk’s wild swing misses the intended targets , but clips the aft mast base.
