Sparhawk ignores Bjorn opening the chests, being surprised by how disciplined his friend has been of late. "Ah, Eberk, glad to see you again. I was worried we were headed to the jungles, but it seems Abernaths teleports are short distances so far. Find anything yet?"
"Hey Bjorn, when your done with that, I have some things to show the group as well." Again, very careful not to physically touch the items, he pulls out the necklace and the dead women's arms with the jewels from his pack. "Frangipani suspects the women was a red wizard." "This was around her neck. I'm guessing its magic, maybe these jewels are as well." (It is clear from the blood that the necklace does not open or close, Sparhawk likely decapitated the women, along with the two arms he presents...gruesome)
He looks to Lir, "Lir, can you discern anything from these masks? They must have a pattern, or way we can determine where they take us. I'm wondering about their locations on the walls, like a compass"
The large half orc paladin sits and puts his back to the wall. (so we can heal 1hit dice of damage)
"Lets investigate without triggering another teleport, and perhaps a short rest before we move along crew."
"Well, I suppose his traps have managed to stop, what, three different attempts on Abernath's life so far? I suppose he probably doesn't need our help, so no rush."
He looks around the edges of each chest's lid, for burn marks or cuts that might indicate a trap. If nothing seems amiss, he'll try opening them left to right.
(Not sure how many rolls I ought to make, so I'll just wait lol.)
"Nothing yet. I forgot that we should be careful around wizard's things. Nobody touch anything yet." Eberk sits down and casts Detect Magic as a ritual.
Frangipani headed over and examined the skulls trying to determine what they once belonged to.

They seem to be similar in shape to gnomes, but super sized, or maybe a small ogre. Hard to pin point and there is nothing on this continent that is comparable in your experience.

the entire room lights up as magic of the conjuration variety, the staff Bjorn took from the other room shows a bit brighter than the surroundings, and the severed arms and collar also manifest a strong magic essence, but of a different school altogether. The gems in the arms each a different school covering all known schools of magic. The necklace/collar shows pure necromancy. And is covered in a sickly blackish green light

Investigate: 15
The lock: 22
Looking over the first chest, you do not find any indication of traps or other deterrents and when pick at the lock, you find it relatively simple to unlock. You open the lid and find it is quite full of various coins from a wide variety of places. Lots of copper and silver coins from sword coast cities and lots of gold ones with markings that appear foreign, likely from across the seas. You would guess there to be easily over 2000gp worth of coinage.
While Sparhawk and group watches Bjorn, he looks at the writing from across the room.(ink, blood, chalk?)
"Nice job my friend. As always, you are a resourceful man. Be careful thought, I dare say I rather like you and wouldn't want to end up losing one of my few friends this day."

(If either Eberk or Frangipani or LIr has guidance, if we put it on Bjorn, he'll get a 1d4 on his lock pick perhaps?)
Lir understands what Sparhawk means - well, he gets the gist - and tries to in his own unreflective way discern the significance of the skulls.
Investigation: 5
Lir points at the skulls - "Those are skulls."
Sparhawk, beginning to understand Lir's powers of deduction..."Indeed my friend, they are skulls."
"Not that I don't trust you Bjorn, but we'll all move back a bit just in case something goes wrong."
Eberk stands up and joins Sparhawk in backing away. “Everything in here is magical so trust nothing.”
OOC: Eberk does not have guidance.
Bjorn chuckles. "That may be the smartest thing ye've said all day."

"Hm! It seems Abernathy left behind a payment for his rescuers. Wizards are clever, eh?"
5 to check the next one, and 13 to open it up
