In spite of his preparation, Vladimir is dumbfounded by the sudden appearance of black tentacles. Looking at the damage done to Ashtear, he begins to think that examining the crystals is probably a bad idea.
He suddenly has a eureka moment. “I get it. Tentacles like on the door! It’s probably best we didn’t try the skull door.”

Slowing her breathin, and asessing the marks on her gear and herself, Ashtear stops for a moment looking at her right hand and gives a sigh. Such a panic that I forgot I had that...Dumb. before making a mental note for next time and looks at the door when the topic of scratching the rune comes up.
"Lets not get near it to do that... I can probably tag it with a bolt... Any objections?"
If not objections;
Ashtear moves back 15 feet from the door, along with everyone else and fires a bolt at the runic mark she saw prior to her tenticruel excursion.

I give up trying to use that combat roller. I've modified the formula several times and none of it works. Shame. 8
Oranir ponders to himself for a moment, "Compromising the sigil might trigger whatever spell it holds. At least we can confirm the sigil only moves the door's features and there is no other spell in it." then nods, "Worth the experiment. Allow me." he takes a few steps alway from it and makes the same clawed motion he used at the ooze, however, this time the spectral form coalesces into a cadaveric claw and just floats gently, approaching the door and tampering with the spot Ashtear found the rune at.
Watching the magical machinations, Laderan pipes up, "Maybe it only works on thing that are, you know..." and he starts prodding his hand and finally grabbing his wrist, "Real. After all, ain't much meat on that wafty hand. Have that go with your bolt Ashtear, just be careful where it ricochets to. Would be sensible if none of us were too near."
"Agreed young Laderan, though the thought of a crossbow ricocheting doesn't sound too appealing either. Let me just take a whack at it with my hammer. Stand back, all of you." Sayax cautiously heads up to the door, ready to jump back if any tendrils appear and using his hammer, gives a hearty thump at the small rune.
Sayax uses his hammer to thump at the rune. When no tentacles appear, a few more thumps scrape the rune off of the stone.
Those versed in the magical arts sense a very subtle downward flux of energy, as though an arcane force previously present in the chamber has expired (the magical trap is disabled).
Pushing on the door, it appears to be locked. Ashtear is able to disable the look, and the doors push open, eerily silent. Beyond, a longer hallway extends to the east. Doorways open up on the northern and eastern sides.
Vladimir looks at the opening and say, "I suppose Sayax and I should go first because we're big," he stops and takes a look at Merrick, "and wearing armor."

As the door opens up, and nothing immediately rushes out to kill them, Laderan breaths a sigh of relief. He looks down the darkened corridor and offers to step forward, "I don't mind scouting forwards, someone keep a light at the door for me though. I'll whistle if it's safe to move on. If it isn't, well, I dunno what you'll see then." So saying, the harengon steps forwards into teh corridor, attempting to make as little sound as possible, creeping up to what appears to be the first opening along. He treads lightly, lead foot placed slowly and then steadily transferring weight forwards hoping to find out about possible pitfalls or loose ground before he has committed his entire weight to it. Holding to the left wall, he peers as far into the darkness down the tunnel as he can, then pulls his hood back, holding back his long ears before peeking around what looks to be an opening.
Merrick regards the direction given by Vladimir with relief. "Mmm.. Erm, yes. Good plan," he says solemnly in as brave of a tone as he could muster and takes his place in the middle of the pack. Nice and safe, he thought, though he made sure to not stray too far from the light of Sayax's warhammer. He remained vigilant, however, for any creeping crawlers coming from the rear.
Holding her bullseye lantern as well as her crossbow she puts on a complcated face for a mome t. "Anyone want to borrow my lantern? Good light for forward movement but i cant use my crossbow too," she laments.
Taking up position further back, "if we encounter any other traps we have stones and at worst my shovel and rope tl try and set them off far away"
Sayax heads through the door with the rest of the group, watching as Laderan hops ahead worried about the rabbit as he heads on. At least he appears to be quiet. He tries to keep an eye on that one as they get to the area with the doorways. He pauses here and looks through the first of the doorways, letting the light from his warhammer light the area up.

The nauseating stench of this room makes your stomach do backflips. Blood is sprayed across the walls and coats the floor. Bones are piled high in the back corner of the room and pieces of humanoid bodies are everywhere. The source of this mutilation becomes clear as a purple-skinned undead with long claws gnaws on the arm of a halfling.
As Vlad crosses the corridor his boot catches on a loose stone, creating a soft bump. The horrid creature snaps its head around and smiles a gore-coated grin at your arrival.

Laderan peers around the corner, the stench almost overwhelming him. He takes in the gruesome décor before his eyes lock onto the unpleasant looking creature, thankful he has been quiet enough not to disturb it yet, he start to withdraw ready to share the knowledge with the other. Over his shoulder he hears the sound of a boot and a bump, then inwardly cringes as the undead thing looks their way. "Good job Mr twinkle toes... Keep moving forwards in case there are more around the next corner that you've rang the dinner bell for, too much congestion behind us!" Drawing the familiar swirl of dirt and dust together, Laderan unleashes the blast towards the creature before skipping past Vlad further down the corridor, glancing quickly around the next corner as he moves, all pretense at stealth abandoned, hoping that some of the others can form up in the narrow confines.

Oranir’s spectral hand touches the rune. Nothing happens.

Oranir shrugs and nods, "Spells and their parameters are often as excentric as their casters." giving Laderan and Ashtear room for the experiment.
