QuAr (pronounced Q-R) Is a faction of clerics of Hermes. QuAr Clerics are respected for their ability to be non-biased, find a middle ground between two parties, and the fact they they conduct their duties without taking any payment for themselves other than what is consumed in the mediation and perhaps food and living space while conducting their business. It is standard for disputes both large and small to be arbitrated by a QuAr member. Members of this faction do not look for personal gain or glory and live squalid lives. It is common to find these poor Clerics traversing the various roads, blessing roads and doorways, and helping those in need unless such an even would divert them too much from their arrival to an assigned arbitration event. The messenger animal used to deliver information to lower level priests, when magic means are not needed or used, are roosters who wear petasos on their heads. These Clerics are easily identified by their Caduceus Staff, shield, travel gear, and plain common robes, some also wear a petasos. Many other factions like to make use of these Clerics in order to avoid scrutiny from other factions and to resolve their disputes without major conflict. Clerics of QuAr will often do their best to avoid conflict and violence, but when put in a situation where their life is at risk, they can be some of the most formidable adversaries and best of companions. Despite all of this, mortals are fallible. Some of these Clerics will take payments or use their position for gain. These bad apples have caused some distrust from factions that would like to see this faction fall. Despite this, many other factions back QuAr since it has help avoid many wars and serious conflicts from tearing Northmorrah apart. However, the land is now under serious strain, and it seems QuAr is needed more than ever. Will they continue to help help the peace or will the world fall once again into a state of chaos? QuAr fights to preserve this peaceful time by sending a new up in coming hermit to join the High Counsel's new group of adventurers. Hopefully this little Verdan can help change the course of the world.

Faction Details: Ink and Blood is a secret society of academics, librarians, explorers, monks, and engineers who are concerned about the longevity of civilization and are attempting to prepare for its collapse and rebirth. They seek to achieve their goals by first: archiving the great works of art, magic, religion, history, and science currently available; seeking out the works of previous civilizations in order to see what they can share about staving off or surviving the coming collapse; and steering society so that the inevitable collapse and following dark age will be as painless and brief as possible. They do not have an official seat on the council, but the secretaries of both the Mage's Guild and the Temple of Bahumat (or whatever prominent deity fits your world) are members and Ink and Blood has influenced the decisions of the council in the past.
Garvin is a young scholar at one of Marblestead's institutions of higher magical learning, quite the prodigy. He has been chosen as Ink and Blood's champion after succeeding in a quiet competition among his peers. Background: Mercenary Veteran. Garrison was, at one time, a fairly well-known and sought after mercenary / adventurer with his comrades in the Iron Crows. After a particularly fruitful job, the Crows disbanded and went their separate ways, many to fulfill less dangerous goals and dreams. Garrison was one of these. Returning to his hometown of Marblestead, he used his earnings to open up a modest tavern and set up shop happily for a number of years. Now, with the idea of a unified team of champions being put into place, Garrison has been equally cajoled, badgered, and convinced that his old skills could be put to proper use in representing the merchants and business people of Marblestead. He may grouse about being talked into joining on the outside, but on the inside there is a certain amount of anticipation of taking down his old axe and shield off of the wall.
Faction details: Garrison represents a consortium of merchants, business owners, and tradespeople who serve as the lifeblood of the realm's financial and logistical existence.

Faction details: Targos represents the Druelthar Mining company and Smithing Guild, being the grandson of the faction leader Hurda Druelthar the matriarch of the family and guild. Due to their cut throat business methods and control of some of the largest mines and forges, they are one of the richest factions and tend to have a lot of money to throw around when needed. While ruthless when it comes to business they do everything by the laws of Marblestead and often are quite keen on keeping the city free of crime, offering large contributions to the guards of the city. Due to the nature of their crafts many of the members of the faction follow various gods of smithing be it dwarven or otherwise so it is not uncommon to see many clerics of the Forge Domain or amongst then.

Rekuberk Onc Level 8 | Half Orc | Barbarian (The Tales of the Fellowship of the White Cloaks)
Sam Hall is a nobody from a nothing family from a nowhere part of town. He's worked hard all his life and still ain't never caught a break nor got ahead one bit. He does backbreaking work 12 hours a day then goes and spends what pittance he earns at the local for a meal and some pints. It's a nothing kind of life but it's his and he has no qualms about punching anyone who talks badly about him or his squarely in their ugly pie hole of a face. In fact, punching tossers in the face is the only way he makes a little extra money so he's more than happy to do it, provoked or not.
Faction details: Sam Hall represents the Worker's Faction. This faction is the newest on the High Council and it took some bloody strikes, boycotts and mischief to get them the seat. The fancy nose in the air snooty factions are appalled at what the Council has come to, needing to allow the workers a seat. The Merchants, Tradespeople and Business Owners are even more repulsed by the fact as the Workers demands are generally in direct conflict with then and their pocketbooks. Still and all, the Great Strike about a decade ago hurt them dearly and they had to acquiesce to giving Jimmy Connelly and his Worker's Faction a seat on the High Council. The nobles and monied factions have since done the best they can to marginalize and ignore the Worker's Faction but they dare not push them out entirely unless they can strike down their entire leadership in one fell blow. And the last time they attempted that... The retribution struck in the most unexpected and hideous of ways. For it seems the figure head leaders knew they could be vulnerable so had divested power and authority in a widespread, almost chaotic faction. Some would claim there was no leadership, that with the figureheads gone it was just ruffians lashing out. The retribution was too precise, others argued, for it not to have been organized and planned. For so many heirs apparent to be struck down within the same hour with no witnesses willing to talk for any price? The Worker's Faction had either one iron-fisted invisible leader or it had so many that none from the outside would ever figure it out...
That's not to say that the Worker's Faction has no alliances. They are at least cordial with the Entertainment Factions with many suspecting much deeper ties. They've also been known to be able to work with the Acquisitions Alliance, a group of people who seem to find whatever they need, wherever it is, soon after it's gone mysteriously missing.
Sam Hall was not chosen to represent the Worker's Faction due to his ability to make friends and influence people. Sam Hall was chosen because he is a ruffian, street brawling, down and dirty fighting threat. The Worker's Faction realized their greatest asset (after pure numbers - most the world is working people!) is raw strength. They lift things, carry things, break things and carry things. They do the hard work the others look down on. Sam Hall is there to shove that in their faces... Literally if need be.

Faction details: Keepers of the Woods. This group protects the woods of the realm and the fey that live inside. The common folk of the realm are friendly toward them. The keepers aid the folk of the realm in curing their sick animals, aiding and preventing droughts, healing the sick of nature's diseases, and other nature based problems that arise. They also keep the balance between nature and industry. The group itself is as old as the land but recently won a seat on the council through negotiations and by defeating the now defunct faction of Musk and Gates incorporated. The leader of the group is a wily old Druid named Goodal who has an even temperament and often times is the mediator between 2 factions fighting.

Background: Legionnaire (Custom based on Soldier - 2 skills, 1 tool, 1 language)
Faction: The Legions - The professional soldiers of the realm who hold the line along the frontiers and guard the major cities. The Legions are a time-honored part of the Republic (or Oligarchy, however you envision the setting - both work). In peacetime they build the roads, aqueducts, and temples. They clear land and respond to natural disasters. In times of trouble, they are the shield that holds the realm, and the spear that pierces the enemy. In many ways the Council has feared the influence of the Legion most of all, as every other faction may hold leverage over parts of the culture, industry, or spiritual heart of the nation, only the Legion contains sons and daughters from all the others. With a minimum ten years of service, former Legionnaires return back to their homes and family tradecrafts, but are forever changed. Once a Legionnaire, always a Legionnaire.
Amongst the many internal institutions of the Legions, known as its Partitions - the Legionary Cult, the Veteran's Corps, the Magisters, and the Architecti Immunes - it is the Enclave that rules the internal workings of the Legion. The Enclave is comprised of a mixture of ranking active-service members from the Partitions, as well as prominent members of legacy families. Falto's family trace their service pedigree to the foundations of the nation and its armies, and helped found the Enclave. Like a small handful of other Legionary families, theirs is an institution in and of itself. When the Council requested a representative of the Legion to champion their place in this new experiment, the Enclave unanimously agreed it was a perfect opportunity for Falto to prove himself.
Loona was born to a secretive Owlin clan, whose duty was to keep the city's library (and its secrets) to remain within the city walls.
Being a Northwards librarian meant knowing how to battle, and also hold many secrets within your head. A sharp tongue and memory are also often needed.
Faction details.
The Northstar Alliance, one of which the Northward family tree belongs to, is an alliance that acts much like the fictioned Illuminati.
They hold many myths and secrets, spies in every corner of the globe.
They start wars at the whim of their will and have no designated leader. They follow the will of "the poll, " a round table where votes are held between the families connected to said faction.
Their main power is knowledge, and information and they focus on subterfuge.
The Bookkeepers (or Keepers, for short) offer an array of important services to all Marblesteaders, regardless of race or creed. Misunderstood and often maligned, the faction members utilize their refined negotiating skills to ensure that all commerce and travel is not only above board but wisely regulated as well. Naturally, there is a cost attached to ensuring the safety and legitimacy of all goods and individuals entering and leaving the white and gold city, but the Keepers have never inflated the fees for their services (despite what some might say after having one pint too many at the local tavern). The Keepers' enterprising insight and subsequent ability to capitalize on their opportunities has, unfortunately, led many to accuse (falsely, of course!) the faction of base methods: deception, intimidation, bribery, and extortion to name a few.
Imrak, the surly half-orc, leads the Bookkeepers and holds the faction's seat on the High Council.

Faction details: The Old Circle - A remnant of a bygone era, the Old Circle is one of the last surviving religious institutions dating back before the turn of the Age. Fierce protectors of ancient sites of power and significance, the Old Circle's influence has waned with each passing season as more and more people abandon the old ways and flock to the great cities (Marblestead standing pristine among them). However, the Old Circle has not forgotten its purpose, taming or silencing the wild spirits and unknown dangers that walk, slither or ooze in the dark corners of the deepest woods. The Old Circle is not a unified faction, being comprised of many different druidic circles and organizations, held in check by a byzantine inner hierarchy with lineages of priests, druids and traditions dating back centuries. The Old Circle rarely even attends meetings of the High Council, but in recent months has started religiously attending, causing small but notable political ripples. Enoch, who recently inherited a priestly position monitoring a foul but mostly harmless minor god of the dark forests, has been sent forward to represent the Old Circle's interests, for the wilds and the old of Northmorrah!

A loose political alliance of elector counts representing the collective interests of the aristocracy from across the continent, the Lansraat is a relatively recent political innovation. Divided and scheming, already under the strain of so many self-interested nobles, the Lansraat survived a turbulent birth through the appearance of a core group of noble families, committed all to the maintenance and advancement of the aristocracy across borders and royal rivalries. Within this group, the sons and heirs to thousands of leagues of the wealthiest lands on the continent train and hold themselves to high standards of chivalry and honor. Absurdly well funded, though still politically divided, the Lansraat's representative is sure to be a prime mover and shaker, with the eyes of the powerful watching his every word and whisper.

Backstory: Noble: Hera grew up as a noble but has never acted like one. She has always wanted to help the common folk and to use her position for good. Unfortunately her family have become tyrants which makes it hard to claim she does so. From underpaying their staff to scamming people into unfair deals, Hera’s family represents the worse in the noble classes. That’s why she has joined a faction capable of making a real difference and has abandoned her families business.
Faction details: The Unseen Hands is a faction of thieves that make it their mission to annoy the noble classes of cities that horde their wealth instead of helping the community. They steal from then and share the wealth they get to the common folk. The nobles call them criminals but the locals hail them as savers for most of the folk they help are in desperate circumstances and that gold they give them sometimes means the difference between life and death. The Unseeded Hands hold some interest in the council, though they themselves aren’t directly on it. They have influence over the council seat responsible for trade and merchants and make it a point to keep in the loop of any political strategies or changes. The councillor on this seat has been a long time friend of the Unseen Hand and is more than happy to help the guild. They have sent Hera to be the representative of the Unseen Hand to make sure that other factions aren’t planning to overthrow them or expose their operations. She has also been told to keep her true faction a secret, since they have many enemies among the higher classes, and to instead act as the trade and merchant champion.
Faction details. The Cavalcade: An organization that specializes in the development of magic, research of the past and all things arcane. They deal with magical artifacts and places of historical magical significance. Their role in society is to push forward the boundaries of magical knowledge, to learn from the past and regulate dangerous magical artifacts. As such they have three major functions.
First, they run a large school that focuses on teaching and helping those with arcane magical talents, knowledge or gifts to further develop them. Magical Study, History, Artifice and even general education are all found in The Cavalcade Academy. They favor only those with magical talent but on rare occasion take in those with less aptitude with arcane arts.
Second, they run an adventuring guild that focuses on hiring people to explore magical ruins, arcane dungeons, and rumors have it also other planes of existence. If you take a quest from The Cavalcade Adventuring Emporium odds are it will be highly profitable but also highly dangerous.
Third, the selling and buying of magical artifacts, books and weapons. They control the flow of magical gear and they leverage it to make a profit to fund their school as well as the adventuring guild. If you're buying a magical item in the city of Marblestead , odds are it was approved to be sold by The Cavalcade.
Elthana grew up in Marblestead. She and her sisters have all been part of the same faction and she has proved herself into being one of the lead investigators where certain items go missing. She has proven herself to not only solve the issues, but to resolve them as well. As a whole, she tends to keep to herself, but news of the high council debating champions has spread and she looks forward to working with others, welcomes the challenge.
Faction details. The Treasury. This faction handles and deals with all the precious items that the city of Marblestead has acquired over the years. This would include large sums of gold for the elite of the city as well as the items that fall under the town proper itself. These would be items of great value that are kept safe within this faction. Not many details of the Treasury is known to outsiders, they keep it that way to try and cut down on theft. There are a handful of goblins that deal with the townsfolk, and there is talk of a man named Hamilton that may or may not be one of the leaders, but beyond that, there is not much known on the interworkings of the faction.

Character name: Garrison Beck
Race: Kalashtar
Class: Fighter (Battle Master)

Also I have a significant number of the source books on DDB so as long as campaign sharing is activated people would have access to them from my stash.
Character name: Targos Druelthar
Race: Hill Dwarf
Class: Cleric (Forge Domain)
Background: Guild Artisan
My time zone is EST.

Character name: Sam Hall
Race: Half Orc
Class: Brawler (Monk 1, Fighter 3, Barbarian 1...)
Background: Gladiator.
Discord: Yes, but not super familiar with Avrae... But can figure it out well enough once I refund my guides.
Commitment: Sure. I get very bored at work so have much time to post from there, or from home.

Character name: Muir
Race: Lizard, Tortle, Harengon...an animal based race
Class: Druid
Background: I would like to find a homebrew background that fits the game but otherwise would do a sage, hermit, or folk hero

Character: Falto Marius
Race: Human (Variant)
Class: Fighter / Rune Knight

Character name: Loona Northward
Race. Owlin
Class. Bladesinger (wizard)
Background.

Character name: Enoch Root
Race: Half-Elf
Class: Cleric (Nature Domain)
Background: Acolyte

Character name: Callahan von Arondight
Race: Human
Class: Fighter
Background: Noble
Faction details: The Lansraat.

Name: Hera Thigglesome
Class: rogue (thief)
Race: human

About your character:
Character name. Elthana
Race. Shadar-kai
Class. Monk
Background. Investigator
