Oh, Sorry I didn't read other applications. You don't need to withdraw your application! I like your character. And it's the DM's call to decide who should be chosen.
Backstory: Sunita was left at the doors to Candlekeep along with a book and grew up within the halls. One day while dusting the shelves she came across an old tome that had been misfiled with the cookbooks....it was not a cookbook and when the voice offered to be her friend the lonely young girl foolishly agreed. Just into her twenties now she knows what it is that she agreed to long ago but can see no way out of it and has told no one as she is afraid of being put out of the Keep as a devil worshipper. She doesn't even know what exactly Naamah is or what she wants but she is determined to get to the bottom of it.
Why are you in Candlekeep? Sunita lives there. What are you studying or trying to learn? In between fetching, carrying, sweeping and dusting she is trying to identify what exactly the book hidden under the stone beneath her cot is.....and who and what Naamah is.
Name: Vlar Link to character sheet: Sheet Race: Bugbear Class and subclass: Fighter 1 / Wizard 3 Backstory: Vlar left his clan to support his family. His clan was common of bugbears, lazy and uneducated. He craved knowledge, and felt he could do more good for his female and cubs out in the world than by staying put. Once out of his clan's homeland though he found the world did not like his kind, and few gave him a chance to show he was different than those bugbears they had met before. He traveled much of the Northland, never finding a place he was allowed to fit in. Eventually he made his way down to Baldur's Gate, following rumors of the place and hoping the reputation of the city would at least mean that he would find something there he could do for work. It was in Baldur's Gate that he met up with a Mercinary Captain that saw potential in Vlar. She recruited him, and not only accepted him, but pushed him to learn all he could. He learned the basics of the fighting arts there, as well as was given a mentor in the more martial of wizardly arts. Every six months he returns to his homeland and spends time with his female and cubs.
Why are you in Candlekeep? Vlar has traveled to the great library in search of knowledge. His wizardly mentor has taught him what they could, now it is up to him to expand on that knowledge. He sought entrance, and was granted it, to study at the library for the standard time allowed.
What are you studying or trying to learn? Vlar is researching spells.
What is your favorite dessert? Vlar enjoys pastries, the less-sweet ones though. Lemon pastries are his favorite.
Backstory: Kocino was raised by his grandparents. As a child, he loved nothing more than being in the kitchen with them, making food. Kocino never outgrew his love of cooking and became incredibly skilled. He now travels the world looking for adventure and inspiration for his newest dishes.
Kocino is in Candlekeep to study new cooking techniques and ingredients.
Backstory: Lu was raised within a mountain community of mixed-race rangers, fighters, and druidic mystics. This colorful community afforded them a myriad of training in fighting, survival skills, and observations of nature's raw power. Lu was contented in their mountain home until the plague hit. The mysterious sickness caused the very old and the very young to go mad and quickly spread killing nearly everyone in their community but themself and a handful of others now known as the 'in-between' which the plague did not touch.
Why are you in Candlekeep? What are you studying or trying to learn? Lu now seeks the reasons behind the plague and its mysterious origins. Haunted by why they as well as the others in their generation were spared while wiser, more capable elders and youth with immeasurable potential were not. (I will gladly expand if needed) Lu will be a Seeker.
What is your favorite dessert? I like pie but Lu loves cookies because they're portable and easily eaten on the move.
Backstory: Marlee has to humble beginnings, the adoptive daughter of the local blacksmith and one of the town's guard. Her mothers were kind, and she spent most of her early childhood under the watchful eye of her blacksmith mother, Emma. As she grew older, she began to follow in Emma's footsteps, though she trained from time to time with the towns guard at her mother Sarah's insistence. One day, as she was heading to one of the farms on an errand, she found an elf man being attacked by bandits. Marlee helped chase them off, and helped the injured man back to town. Marlee often found time to check on the man, a priest of Corellon named Rookafell, as he recovered. The two talked often, especially about his god. The young half-elf had always been a believer in the gods, but with no priest in the area, many practices and rituals were unknown to her. She soon began offering to help with his prayers, finding some sort of connection with her partial elvish heritage. Though the elf had left a few weeks after his arrival, Rookafell left a book for Marlee, to allow her to continue study on the elvish god on her own. After long hours at the forge, she often found an hour or two to read. A month later, a large group of bandits (some of whom attacked Rookafell) attempted to raid the town. Marlee was quick to join in the defense of the town. Corellon seemed to have listened to her prayers, granting her magical abilities to help defend the town. While the town's defense was successful, it was not without its losses. Several townsfolk died, and Sarah lost an arm. With her new abilities, Marlee helped defend her area. After some time, and the area felt safe, she decided to leave, feeling a call to leave, and maybe find a way to help find a way to replace Sarah's limb.
Why are you in Candlekeep? What are you studying or trying to learn?: Marlee has had her holy abilities for some months now, using it to defend her town and the surrounding area, but has recently been having dreams involving books, falling into fog or the ink flowing off the pages to pool around it. She has taken the opportunity to go to Candlekeep, believing it to be a good place to start investigating her dream, and perhaps further her knowledge on the gods, and maybe find a prosthetic for Sarah.
What is your favorite dessert?: Marlee likes candied fruit, though would always eat pudding if it's offered.
Backstory: Colleen was born to an adventuring wizard and her sometime lover, a scholar of Candlekeep. She grew up among the corridors of that fabled institution, somewhat of an annoyance to the researchers. While a bright and willing pupil, her lack of magical spark prevented her from following in her mother's footsteps. While her lack of dedication and penchant for getting in mischief brought fears of her falling into trouble, she actually found a niche in finding lost volumes and returning them to the library.
Why are you in Candlekeep? What are you studying or trying to learn? Colleen lives in Candlekeep between missions and dabbles in loads of assorted knowledge.
What is your favorite dessert? Mine: Ice Cream. Colleen's: Raspberry Tarts.
