Hmm well I am thinking the rapier she has will be silvered for the game mechanic but flavor wise it is jeweled and made to look more decorative then functional.
As for the personal Alfred maybe I could have a guard or something sent by her husband or perhaps a maid that is there to both take care of her needs and as a companion. Although not sure what to do with the husband as he is a retired royal guard so I think there would be a chance of him being there...

To be clear, I don't envision hirelings coming on the actual adventure part of the story...that would bog things down quite a bit. But if you have a maid/man servant that stays in the bat cave as it were, I think that would be fine.

(Question: Will there be content sharing? The race and subclass I would like to use are one's I do not have access to on DDB. If not, I will change this character to a human (or the free aasimar variant I have access to), and use a subclass I do have access to. I will also rework the backstory to make sense with the change in race. Thanks!)
I do not have a paid subscription to DnDB, so content sharing is not an option available to me. If someone selected does have content sharing and an available slot I am more than happy to allow them to gift us all with that present.
Also to clarify, when I said no homebrew I meant nothing that you have created or adapted yourself. But if you want to use the DnDB tools to create a freeware version of a published race, subclass, feat, spell, etc I have no objection to that. I have actually built in my DnDB collection every subclass and race and all of the feats up through Fizbans (haven't gotten to doing Multiverse yet). I intend to do all the spells as well, but that is a larger undertaking so right now I just build each one as I need it for a character. Because of that I am pretty adept at creating Homebrew copies of official materials, so if you need any advice on how to implement a specific racial trait or feat bonus let me know and I can probably help out.
Okay, I totally understand that as I do not have a paid subscription either.
I suppose the other question would be, how likely is it for this character to be chosen? If it is a definite no, then I won't even bother with him and will make a new one instead. If you like the concept, I am willing to put in some extra work to figure out how to get around my lack of DDB access (In which case I would love some advice on making some home-brew copies!) Thanks!

You won't be able to find any of the published materials in the actual Homebrew library available to add to your collection...The website has filters in place to prevent anything that is too similar from published materials from being made available to share with the wider community. You can create homebrew that you can use for yourself, or that your campaign can use if shared content is turned on...but no one else can see it if it is an exact copy of material that is published by WotC.
Your character is not a definite no...it has a chance of being selected. I just wanted to bring your attention to the pitfall of building an introvert. I think they are easier to play in person that through a PbP...but I have tried to play one before through a forum game and figuring out what to write was very difficult...at least for me. Your mileage may vary.

Yeah that is what I meant just made sense that she would have one there but I get how crazy it can be to deal with hirelings.

LOL, yeah, I figured that out just after posting my last reply. Even if a few managed to get through, I wouldn't be able to use it anyways without having a subscription.
Okay, well, in that case I will try to build some "home-brew" for myself, and will work on getting a character sheet uploaded as soon as possible. Thanks for bringing my attention to the introvert issue. I realized about halfway through writing his backstory that he was becoming an introvert, which wasn't initially how I pictured him. I'm picturing more that he was content with isolation when he was younger, but is now trying to socialize more--though his circumstances tend to get in the way. Even if he ends up being more of an introvert (which, honestly I find that my characters change as soon as I start playing them, their personalities going in ways I didn't initially expect), I think I would still be able to manage him in a fun way for myself and others. I've found that I tend to write a lot anyways, so perhaps it would be a blessing in disguise lol.
PyromaniIsDeadThankGod - Long Board handle! I might need to abbreviate that in the future...do you have a preference of what it gets abbreviated to? I really like the character concept. Gives me inuyasha vibes...which I don't know if that is intentional or not...but cool. The only thing I would say is you are the first person that noticably got screwed over by the dice roller...Those ability scores come out to an equivalent point buy of 16 when standard power level is 27. If you are okay with that then so am I...but the offer is available for you to switch over to point buy instead if you would like.
Hey man. Thanks for the feedback (though I don't know what you really meant by Long board handle tbh). I will stay with my stats because I intentionally did not want Raiden to be over-the-top powerful like my other characters; He's still a developing character story wise even though he's centuries old. Also, he's like a "What he lacks in x he makes up for in x" character.
As for Inuyasha vibes, yes I kinda took inspiration on it but not much. Really amazing anime imo.
Edit: Thanks Kaemgen. Bounces just abbreviate to Pyro if that's alright for you (I didn't know what to name myself so yeah).

Is there a way to price mundane non-combat items like jewelry or suchlike?
You can look in Dungeon Master’s Guide under Treasure but often jewelry and gems are described (least in part) by their price. A gold necklace worth 200 gold due to a couple rare gems I laid with delicate and intricate styling… A diamond worth 200 gold, etc. pricier the better, at least by general assumption.

We're doing one small murder-y thing for a bigger, better reason. The ends justify the means.
OOC: don't know if this is still open for submissions, but here's mine :)
Name: Sylgar
Relation to the Royal Families: Royal assassin for the head of family Ulaborg. He has only been called on once, to assassinate the leader of an invading goblin force. Once their leader fell, the other goblins soon we're gone.
Thoughts on opposite Family: Sylgar thinks that the wolgast family is a bunch of stuck up snobs, who sit around and make their slaves do all of the work. He is also biased, as he was raised by the Ulaborg family, and doesn't remember being taken from his true family.
Thoughts on the wedding: He hopes that the wedding goes to plan, as he thinks the princess will be a good wife to the prince that he grew up watching. He hopes she is less lazy than her relatives though....
Additional Backstory details: Sylgar was brought to the island when he was nothing more than a young lad, stolen away from his family by the Ulaborg guards. He was brought to the abode of this family, and began his training as an assassin. He now lives in a cave underneath the castle Ulaborg, awaiting when he is next needed.
Just a quick note. I am a bit OCD when it comes to shopping for things, and as a result I don’t want to open that Pandora’s box without reason. If selected, I will equip and spend some portion of the 1000GP. I hope my lack of action on this front isn’t interpreted as lack of interest. :)

Okay, I've added a character sheet link to my application. I think I managed to get a decent home-brew copy for the race/class I wanted, but I don't know if I did everything right (I'd never messed with the home-brew tools before this). Regardless, I think it should be good enough for now, and I am perfectly willing to go in and change things should I be selected.
I also have yet to spend my 1000gp. Mostly because I am not sure how my character would spend that money at the moment, but I think I'll get around to that if I am selected. :)

any chance we'll know if we've been chosen to participate and when it starts if we are??
Yes...When selection is made I will officially close the thread and let everyone know who is selected. At that point I have a few thoughts for the other submissions because PbP has a bad habit of people falling off as the real world brings other priorities to bear, so it is nice to have a bench of backups. More details on that will be forth coming.
As for when submissions will be closing - I didn't plan very well around the upcoming holiday. I have already received word from a few that they will not be available until after the 4th. In light of this I have decided to close submissions on Saturday, July 2nd. I will make final selections for characters some time between the 3rd and the 5th. (I would like to commit to a day, but I work the 3rd and the 4th and don't know how busy it will be...so 5th at the latest.) After that we will discuss the plan for other submissions and get the in character thread opened up for the 5 - 6 players that are chosen. The plan being the adventure will kick off in earnest around the 6th or so.

Feedback & Thoughts
Arhjanthesecond - I like your character concept...but you might consider giving Sylgar an official role within the royal family that covers for his presence at royal events when he is not on an assignment. If he is a secret assassin then maybe he also acts as royal waitstaff, like an underbutler. This cover gives him a narrative reason to be at the festivities instead of having you sit out until the something that is going to go wrong goes wrong. The only other thing I see is even with the +2/+1 to any stat that a chromatic dragonborn gets your stats come out to a 33 on point by instead of 27. Did you roll for stats somewhere in the thread that I am not seeing? They are not ridiculous or out of line with what others that rolled for stats have gotten...just trying to figure out where they came from.
TotalNerd42 - your character does not meet the character creation criteria for this campaign. Please reread the first post or this one where I went over and summarized the character creation guidelines again and then resubmit. In addition, please consider putting more thought into your backstory. With so many applicants it is going to come down to selecting what stories go well together and what players have shown an interest in the game through their effort on their backstory. Your backstory as currently submitted does not put the best foot forward.
