any chance we'll know if we've been chosen to participate and when it starts if we are??
Yes...When selection is made I will officially close the thread and let everyone know who is selected. At that point I have a few thoughts for the other submissions because PbP has a bad habit of people falling off as the real world brings other priorities to bear, so it is nice to have a bench of backups. More details on that will be forth coming.
As for when submissions will be closing - I didn't plan very well around the upcoming holiday. I have already received word from a few that they will not be available until after the 4th. In light of this I have decided to close submissions on Saturday, July 2nd. I will make final selections for characters some time between the 3rd and the 5th. (I would like to commit to a day, but I work the 3rd and the 4th and don't know how busy it will be...so 5th at the latest.) After that we will discuss the plan for other submissions and get the in character thread opened up for the 5 - 6 players that are chosen. The plan being the adventure will kick off in earnest around the 6th or so.
Now to update the list of submissions:

Feedback & Thoughts
Arhjanthesecond - I like your character concept...but you might consider giving Sylgar an official role within the royal family that covers for his presence at royal events when he is not on an assignment. If he is a secret assassin then maybe he also acts as royal waitstaff, like an underbutler. This cover gives him a narrative reason to be at the festivities instead of having you sit out until the something that is going to go wrong goes wrong. The only other thing I see is even with the +2/+1 to any stat that a chromatic dragonborn gets your stats come out to a 33 on point by instead of 27. Did you roll for stats somewhere in the thread that I am not seeing? They are not ridiculous or out of line with what others that rolled for stats have gotten...just trying to figure out where they came from.
TotalNerd42 - your character does not meet the character creation criteria for this campaign. Please reread the first post or this one where I went over and summarized the character creation guidelines again and then resubmit. In addition, please consider putting more thought into your backstory. With so many applicants it is going to come down to selecting what stories go well together and what players have shown an interest in the game through their effort on their backstory. Your backstory as currently submitted does not put the best foot forward.
Hollow Reaper - I went to look at your updated character sheet to give you promised feedback...and I cannot find it at the previous links...getting 403 and 404 errors. Can you please repost a shareable link for your character submission?
Cool beans. Looks like you have everything arranged. Only thing I noticed is that you don't have your spells selected. As a 3rd level ranger you know 3 spells from the Ranger Spell list. Based on the Wisdom score you have (wisdom is the spell casting attribute for rangers) you are going to want to select spells that do not require an attack roll or require a saving throw. Here is a short list of spells I would recommend.
Hunter's Mark - This spell makes the top of every ranger list. Bonus action to case and increases your damage output by a d6 on every attack that hits....no attack roll or saving throw required, pretty great. Cure Wounds - nice utility spell and fits the "here to help out" kind of feel of your backstory. Speak with Animals - A fun utility spell great for information gathering. Fog Cloud - great battle field control spell that doesn't require attack or save Longstrider - good for overland travel or getting just a bit more options on the battle field
There are some other pretty need 1st level ranger spells as well. They aren't like a wizard where magic is all that they can do, but it is a nice way to round out their toolkit. Read over them and pick three that fit your character as you see him in your head.

Bounces- I'm so sorry- I didn't know if you rolled it has to be in the thread. I rolled in the character creator, with rolled numbers of I think 10, 11, 15, 12, 10, and 13. I'll double check soon.
I am wondering if I could be something like a kings assistant, if that's ok. I originally was thinking of being part of the princes guard as a cover up, but figured that posing as a guard and an assassin would be difficult to play. I want something that would be easy to slip away from, but not too easy to notice my absence. If you have anything that fits this better please let me know so I can put it on the character.

That's kind of what I thought had happened. As a heads up most GMs on the boards want to see the dice rolling so most of the time we roll pretty much everything in thread. Although I have seen some GMs that prefer rolling on the character sheet where it saves to the dice log that others in the campaign can see. No need to change to point buy...the rolls are in line with what a lot of others that rolled for stats got, so I think it is a reasonable result.

Alright...no activity for almost a full day...plus plus we have a ton of solid applications.
I am going to officially close recruiting now. I will be looking over the character sheets and backstories in a little more depth over the next day or so before making selections tomorrow of Monday.

Late to the party, like my character. Hope you enjoy, even if it is too late for consideration. The campaign premise is sounding really strong.
Princess Erithinell looked up at the sun. Again. The Vizier was late. Again. Even on her wedding day! That said, the princess knew that her loyal advisor would be here. Indeed, might already be here in one of his "guises". The princess shook her head. She had known the Vizier since she had been in the cradle, yet sometimes it seemed she hardly knew the mysterious man at all. There had always been a Royal Vizier. To the young princess, the Vizier had always seemed elderly - yet he never seemed to age. Some whispers had it that the Vizier was immortal, which the princess dismissed as fairy tales. The Vizier had cautioned her many times that there was a time when he would go away for an extended period, and that time was growing closer. But not right now; the Kingdom needed the Vizier more than ever in this, the most tense of times.
Publicly, the Vizier expresses no political opinions, though it seems to most that he has a haughtily, disapproving air of the opposing royal house. In reality, he has a secret presence in both royal courts and has been active in engineering the forthcoming union for many years.
Stats: Point buy (I prefer this so I can more easily reuse concepts)
Been dealing with some low spoons today...haven't gotten as much done on this as I was hoping so there will be delays. Apologies, but the fact that I am coming to report that I am dealing with low spoons and there will be delays is actually progress for me. :)
I appreciate everyone's patience. We will get on track here soon.

The ever growing document of character concepts can never be too long, can it?
Good luck all
