Harrow hands the onions back to Gammon, and are immediately wrenched back out of his hands by Lamai (the gnome woman.) Neither Gammon nor Kusa tries to grab them back.
Hearing you weigh their offers, the two vendors continue to argue in front of the party, upping their offers to include as much as 100 gp, as well as increasingly grandiose delicacies and family cooking secrets such as a feast of thrice-fried tarrasque trout or the secret of making bewildering mobius noodles.
Lamai points to Datari's Holy Sickle of Truth. "Yes - use your holy powers!" Kusa scoffs at it with a knowing smile. She sees through Datari's silly deception. "Leave us out of this, you liar!" shouts the bent old woman at Harrow from behind the counter at Vada's. Gammon stands back up and is starting to look remorseful.
The bickering between the two women continues, but now addresses the party as an audience to their demands and offers. Both vendors are eager to prove the other is to blame for the vandalism and sabotage both of their market stalls have evidently been suffering.
You may choose to ally with one or the other for a 100-gp reward and a lifetime supply of free meals at their employer’s cart. (Or, don't pick sides but agree, or not, to investigate.) The request from either vendor is the same: investigate the shopkeepers’ stands and the surrounding market and prove their rival is sabotaging them. The shopkeeper will take any evidence the party finds, present it to the Dyn Singh Merchant Collective that oversees the market, and have their rival banned from the market.
Tuuli circles the fight trying to remain out of its orbit, drops some silver for a regular bun (not a fancy bun), gets close to Gammon (the kid) and squats down to his level. "Hey," she says quietly, with a friendly smile. "I'm Tuuli. They're pretty angry, huh? Want to tell me what happened?" She offers him the bun. "I'll even sweeten the deal... get it, sweeten? Um, anyway, here. for you."

Knicknack's eyes widen at the talk of so much gold. She wipes her mouth and holds onto Walt's sleeve. "We will take the job, but we will investigate both of you. If one turns out to be the liar, the other pays in full. If neither is the liar, you each pay half for wasting our time and for this shameful scene. If you don't like our terms you could always try beating each other up. Do you think the Merchant Collective will let either of you stay here if you keep fighting like this?"
Calista's eyes also go wide at the mention of gold. She could definitely use a fuller coin purse; she's not exactly swimming in wealth working for RCAS.
Agreeing with Knicknack, she says, "Yes, we will investigate both of you. Now, where should we begin? Where are your market stalls?"

Gammon looks exhausted, humiliated, and intimidated by his elders. He responds to Tuuli, quietly and simply, "I took the onions because they've been stealin' our stuff."
The two adult vendors nod to Knicknack, who seems to get through to them enough to calm them down somewhat, each soberly nodding with a sort of stern satisfaction. Perhaps the talk of the Merchant Collective gave them pause, too.
Satisfied, Kusa grabs her son's hand and drags him indelicately away without further discussion.
Lamai then excuses herself, the bundle of onions hanging from one arm. "I have to get back to our shop. Tyenmo Noodles. Handmade, delicious noodles. You won't miss it." To Calista, she gestures vaguely toward one end of the market. Then she departs as well. The gawking crowds and shopkeepers begin to disperse.
Just as the two women depart, another market vendor approaches you. A human man wearing a flashy green shirt with a high collar and gold filigree trim designed to look like hot peppers. He smiles while shaking his head as he approaches. "Good evening. I'm Kasem Aroon, one of the owners of the Spice Brothers stall. I'm so sorry that our families can’t get along. Try not to ruin your night embroiled in politics. May I show you around the market?"
Rycroft is certainly interested in making some money, and happy not to pick sides in this squabble if he doesn’t have to. He nods at Aron and holds out a feathered hand to shake. "There's vinegar and pepper in't." “Am RyCrOfT. dO sHoW uS aRoUnD.”
”So gracious of you, good sir, to offer us a tour of the market,” says Walt as he bows his head ever so slightly and tips his hat. ”If you could give my friends and I a brief moment. Thank you kindly”
Walt gestures the group to come in close and gather round.
”I don’t know if we need this fella to give us a tour. Our friend, Knicknack, is a local after all and perhaps her father could be of assistance. Plus, I was looking forward to sampling some meals from the Witchery Wok.”
Walt pauses for a brief moment while he ponders their next move.
”Though, it might be helpful to get his perspective on the matter. Perhaps he has some insight on the complexities of the politics and machinations of the Night Market. What say you, friends”
Walt peers over his should ever so slightly and smiles at Kasem Aroon, ensuring that he isn’t listening in on their conversation and hoping to get a read on his body language.
Datari is quietly cleaning under his nails with the sickle as he listens to the conversations flow around him. Then he remembers that it is supposed to be a holy relic and sheepishly slips it back into his belt.
"I think Walt is right" Datari says, scratching his chin thoughtfully "He might know something but not want to tell us out here with everyone watching."
"Plus I like his shirt, do you see how the collar looks like peppers?" He adds excitedly "Thats pretty clever because he's a Spice Brother, they sell spices... or spicy food" his voice trails off and he resumes scratching his chin as he tries to guess what the Spice Brothers might sell.
Kasem shakes Rycroft's hand delicately before Walt calls them into a huddle.
Walt can't read anything from Kasem's body language. He smiles politely as he waits for you to finish your private conversation.
"The Dyn Singh Night Market is a delightful place if you avoid the market politics and the vendors who would give this place a bad name," he offers. "It would be my pleasure to show you some of our upstanding market vendors."
Knicknack tucks her new Stormchaser Boomerang into her belt and looks awfully proud of it.
The little earth genasi thinks for a moment then says, "The market stays the same and it also doesn't. The biggest vendors always set up in the same spot, but the small stalls shift around every night. I can show you folks around a little (and introduce you to the heavenly foods of the Witchery Wok, tell-your-friends-Walt-you-won't-be-disappointed), but I can't be a tour guide; I have to keep an eye out for clues!"
“Very true, very true my friend,” Walt says directed at Knicknack, “Your skills have proven quite useful this evening. And I have no doubt that your expertise will come into play as we investigate these shenanigans.”
”Plus, you seem to have a…knack for finding things,” Walt briefly chuckles at his play on words.
“And I agree with Tuuli and Datari, I have a feeling this fella knows more than he’s letting on. And I too question his motivations. He may very well be embroiled in these politics as well.”
Walt spins on his heels and bows towards Kasem and says, “Mr. Kasem Aroon, we will take you up on your offer. Please, lead the way, good sir.”

With the majority of the party agreeing to a tour, Kasem begins a leisurely stroll around the market, which is arranged in concentric rings. (You begin in the bottom right of the map below.)
Traveling clockwise, you are again overwhelmed by the lights, the smells, and the crowds. Kasem finally pauses at Madam Kulp's Silk shop (lower left of the map.) Madam Kulp is an elderly gnome woman wearing a colorful wrap consisting of dozens of colorfully and carefully intertwined pieces of silk. Her jewelry and hair are impeccable. She sells luxurious silk garments that begin at 50 gp apiece and go steeply upward. Kasem introduces the party to her as his guests and she gives a polite bow. "Are you looking for silk tonight? All of our luxurious silk is spun by our own gentle tut-krogh caterpillars. You won't find anything better!"
Tuuli can't make much out of Kasem's body language, but he seems a bit stiff and reserved, and not a particularly smooth or practiced tour guide.
"Thank you," responds Madam Kulp. "Oh, of course!" she adds, replying to Rycroft's question. "Fine noodles. Straight across the Event Grounds." She points northeast, directly across to the other side of the market.
Seeing your interest wane looking at Madam Kulp's high-priced silk wares, Kasem begins to move you along, clockwise. "My family stall is right up ahead. Do you fancy a cucumber fire smoothie? Very spicy!"
Calista oohs and ahhs over the beautiful silk garments. There's a lovely azure silk scarf that would bring out her eyes just so, but alas she does not make enough money to afford such luxuries. As Kasem drags them away from Madam Kulp's she gives one last longing, forlorn look at the scarf before following the rest of the group.
"I am still full from that vanilla bun," she says, "but a cucumber fire smoothie sounds interesting!"
