After a hard day's travel along The Trade Way, you find yourself in the town of Hill's Edge. Though darkened windows and empty streets lead you to believe most of the town's inhabitants have gone to bed for the night, one building stands out among the rest. A warmly lit Inn at the corner of an intersection of dirt roads up ahead. You make your way there, eager to rest and recuperate after many miles of travel. As you approach you hear music and banter coming from within the Inn. You also hear a creaking noise and look up to find a wooden sign swinging lazily in the stiff Autumn breeze. The sign says "The Nutsack Inn" and below the name squats a fat and merry looking squirrel next to an overflowing sack of nuts. The paint is peeling, but the place seems lively enough. You enter the Inn and are greeted by delicious smells, simple, but catchy music, and the usual din of tavern noise. You see a balding man with brown and gray mutton chops behind the bar, pouring drinks for patrons. A three piece band is playing a lively tune to a few folks dancing in a small clear space before the stage. You hear cheers and curses and look to your left to see a few tables offering varying gambling games. You also notice a few empty tables near the back of the room, they seem to be a little less rowdy than the rest of the tavern.
Please describe what your character is doing after entering the Inn. I've presented a few options above, but feel free to come up with something of your own design as well!
As doc enters the tavern he is met with his first dilemma, Thoughts "do I sit back and size up the entire place" or "do I go sit at the bar and strike up conversation" Being his background as a diplomat he is used to being in the spotlight and enjoying parties. Though the spy side really would like to just sit back and take in the people and see what he can glean through people watching. The decision comes to Doc out of exhaustion from his long travels, he walks up the the bar "Sir please pour me your strongest mead and have it delivered to the back table, and if you have it whatever it is you might have to eat." Doc makes his way to a table in the back against the wall, from here he has a clear vantage of the door and the rest of the tavern. When his food and mead are delivered he asks the bartender "People are in a good mood and having fun, what is the occasion?"
Doc - The barkeep is speaking with another patron as you approach, nodding and smiling politely as he listens to the gnome speak. The two erupt in laughter and the bartender claps the man on the shoulder, almost knocking the inebriated gnome out of his stool. He helps steady the man and gives him another, gentler pat on the shoulder as he sees you approach, "Well met friend, I'll have one of our barmaids bring your mead and a bowl stew over shortly." After a few minutes you see a middle aged woman in a blue dress and off-white apron making her way through the taproom toward your table. She sets your mead and stew down as she says, "Here you are sir." She laughs lightly at your question and says, "Well, nothing formal I suppose. Just folks enjoying an evening with friends. Are you new in-" A loud shout drowns out her reply, "Oi wench! I've been waiting on a refill! Get me another ale dammit!" slurs a drunken human man a few tables over. His unfocused and glassy eyes glare in your direction as he shakes off his friend's attempts to calm him. The man tries to stand, loses his balance and falls back into his seat. He then manages to stand with a curse and begins to stumble over to your table. What do you want to do?
Tok pushes his way into the tavern. Despite his size it doesn't take long for other guests to take notice of him. His eyes are wide as he clumsily makes his way around the room. Has he finally found the place he was looking for? He wanders the space, scrutinizing details and occasionally referencing scrawled notes. He is oblivious to the scowls of the patrons as he pulls himself onto tables to inspect window dressings. He eventually settles in to a bench overlooking the room with an excited grin. If asked what exactly he's looking for he responds Hmmm to be honest, don't know what I'm looking for, but I'm quite sure I've found it.
Tok - As you sit and survey the room, you see simple folk enjoying a little drink and song to ease the weight of their boring but honest lives. Only one person catches your eye. A strikingly good looking gnomish woman across the room. Through the crowds, it is a bit hard to see her but the crowd parts and you see brown curls framing a heart shaped face that smiles as she catches your eye. She blushes and quickly turns away. You can see that she is still smiling though. After a few minutes, you catch her eye again. She smiles and looks at the empty seat across from her, then back to you with one eye brow raised.
A beacon in the night, a sight that Kor was altogether more than familiar with. It had been a long tiring day of travel for the half-orc. The cart she had been riding in had broken down, and unfortunately with not many options left, Kor accepted that she would have to hoof it the rest of the way. Now at the end of her journey, she was glad to see the inn in the distance.
The doors swings open as a large half-orc woman strides in. She wears a simple shirt and chest wrappings and some baggy trousers, but the most defining feature was the large wrapped cloth strapped on her back concealing what was definitely a large weapon. As she walks in, she turns as she hears the loud drunkard in the corner. Kor makes her way to the bar and finds a seat, waiting for the barkeep to free up as she glances at the noise in the corner.
Kor - You feel more than a few people turn their gaze toward you as you make your way through the crowd. An elven man, well into his cups is standing and acting out part of some tale he is telling to the entertainment of his friends. The man bumps into you and turns with a surly look upon his face, "Watch yers-Oh! G-Gods, pardon me miss!" The man stammers as he scurries out of your way. He avoids eye contact as he stands flaccidly by, waiting for you to pass. A few moments later you hear his friends laughing much harder than they were before, jeering him loudly as you take a seat at the bar. The barkeep catches your eye and holds up a finger with a smile, "One second miss and I'll be right with you!" There is another large half-orc next to you, blocking your view of the corner. He appears much less jovial than the rest of the tavern tonight. His back is to the bar and a stack of empty glasses sits behind him while he holds a half full drink in his hand. He stares dourly into the crowd, watching someone or something.
Please make a Perception check to see if you can tell what he's looking at.
Kor nods at the bartender, she could wait. She is more curious about the noise all of a sudden, but a large surly half-orc was blocking her view. Interestingly, she sees that the Half-Orc is also occupied with something in the crowd. She cranes her neck to look slyly.
Tok blushes as he attempts to run every scenario through his head. He stands and straightens his cloak, cringing as he remembers how dirty it is from his journey. He makes his way to the bar dodging a drunk man on his way. He climbs up the stool next to the brown haired woman. Awkward seconds pass as they both stare forward. He knows this isn't good, He knows he has to say something I was.... Do you.... Have you been here before?
Felmar stomps into the room, exhausted from his travels. He asks the barkeep for a meal and the biggest cup o’ ale he’s got. Then he goes to the back to find an empty table and begins to observe the other patrons while he waits
Kor - It is too difficult to discern exactly what the half-orc is so focused on in the crowded taproom, but strangely enough, whatever it is has suddenly put the hint of a smile on the man's face.
Tok - The woman smiles warmly and stands a bit to straighten out her dress before sitting back down. She crosses one leg over the other and leans over the table toward you, her brown eyes are large and deep, "Hello and welcome to my table, my name is Leona." She offers you her hand and laughs sweetly at your stuttering introduction, "It has been a few years, but yes." She smiles, waiting for you to say something. Her gaze flicks over your shoulder toward the bar as she waits, but after a few seconds of silence she says, "You looked as though you were searching for something; perhaps you've found it?" She smiles again, but you notice her gaze flicking over your shoulder once more as she waits for you to speak.
Oh, I'm Tok He says as he returns her handshake and smile. Yes, I suppose I was looking for something. Or rather, somewhere. You see, I have um.. heard of this place before, but I didn't know what it was called. It wasn't until I got here that I knew I was in the right place.
* I think he's probably too distracted notice her glancing away. But maybe with some lucky insight, he'd notice and check behind him.

"No need to get hostile my good man, here take my mead and I will have her get me a new one. Ma'am?" Trying to defuse the situation doc looks at the gentleman and turns on his best diplomat charisma18"You seem to be having a good time, whats your name sir?" Even with this distraction what was impossible to miss was the female half orc entering the bar, and the slight pause in all activities to look at her, even the drunk seemed to freeze for a second to take in the sight.
Felmar sits at his table, attempting to observe the other patrons while he waits for his meal. He scans the area seeing what he can observe. (Rolling a perception to see if he notices any of the situations the other players are in)
Doc - The belligerent man sways a bit on his feet before swiping the tankard from your outstretched hand. He sloppily quaffs it, spilling it over himself and onto the floor. He wipes his mouth with the back of his arm and sneers at you. He turns to head back to his table but slips on the spilled mead. He goes down hard, hitting his head on a heavy wooden chair on the way down. The barmaid gasps and the man doesn't move. A pool of blood begins to grow around his head. The panicked barmaid shouts "Somebody do something!"
Felmar - The barkeep reaches under the bar and pulls out a large tankard, "I'll have someone bring it over to you sir!" He fills it up all the way to the top and sets it on a tray for one of the barmaids. Some of the froth washes over the top and slowly runs down the side as you make your way over to the only empty table in the room. Taking a seat, you hear some sort of commotion at a nearby table. A drunken man is angrily shouting at a barmaid while stumbling over to her. You see a half-elven man calmly stand and offer the man his drink. You can tell by the way the half-elf moves and the way he stands that he is well-trained in combat; outwardly calm and non-threatening but with feet apart in a boxer's stance and ready to act in the blink of an eye. You watch the drunk snatch the drink and suck it down greedily. As the man turns to head back to his table he slips and falls, hitting his head on the way down. The barmaid screams and shouts, "Somebody do something!"
Tok - Though Leona is beautiful indeed, you can't help but notice how she keeps glancing over your shoulder. It's rather distracting really, and as you turn to see what she's looking at, she grabs your hand and says quietly but firmly ,"No, don't look! Please... I... *sigh* There's this half-orc at the bar... He's been staring at me all night. I've been around the block enough times to know that stare when I see it. It's a dangerous one... I saw you and thought you looked... safe. You remind me of my brother... Anyway, I thought we could get to know one another, maybe dance a little?" She says with a wink "And then you could escort me home? I don't want to walk alone tonight. Think you could help a girl out?" She still holds your hand in hers and she looks to you with her big brown eyes, awaiting your response.
Felmar gets up and makes his way to the man on the floor. He acknowledges the half-elf with a nod and begins to examine the man on the floor trying to determine his condition.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Doc asks the barmaid "Do you have a healer or a doctor in town? If so please fetch them immediately!" Doc starts to bend down to examine the human with the dwarf as he does so doc looks around the room to see what everyone else's reaction is to the situation and see if there is anything happening that shouldn't with this convenient distraction.
Felmar - It's hard to get a decent examination done with people crowding around and the barmaid in hysterics. Before you can get much further than the obvious gash in the man's head, someone is pushed by the gathering crowd and loses their balance. They stumble into you and step on the injured man in the process. All the while the barmaid is screaming shrilly and sobbing into her apron.
Doc - Before you can react a Dwarven man walks up to the injured man and kneels beside him, looking him over. You notice a large crowd forming and the barmaid is beside herself. The people gathered around push and jostle one another to get a look at what's going on and someone even stumbles into the dwarf, interrupting his evaluation of the man's injuries. It's hard to see anything else with the crowd and noise.
Felmar has already had enough. He stands and roars at the top of his lungs “If ye want this drunken arshole on his feet again t’night, then GIVE ME SOME DURNED ROOM!”
Then I turn to the half elf and say “Can ye clear me some space to work?”
As the dwarf is knocked into Doc reaches out to try and steady the dwarf as to keep him from falling over. Also he raises his voice and this time asks the crowd: "Do you have a healer or a doctor in town? If so please fetch them immediately!" Though with this crowd doc is starting to feel boxed in and is starting to get anxious and YELLS "GET THE HELL BACK NOW!"
