I think a scene that works well for Garvii is a confrontation on the Tabantha Great Bridge connecting Tabantha Frontier and Hyrule Ridge.
Fighting monsters was always a secondary concern to Garvii who is on a spiritual journey to find peaceful locations to commune with nature. When disturbed, he would drive out smaller monster groups and camps in a violent rage with his ancestral Greatsword, The Roc Feather, and then resume his meditation until deciding it was time to move on. This was Garvii’s familiar lifestyle until one day, while crossing the Tabantha Great Bridge to do some trading at the Tabantha Bridge Stable, he finds himself ambushed on both sides. This is a new development. The monsters have never organized like this before and clearly he’s being targeted as a priority enemy.
I have an even better idea. A legend of Zelda race known for having the power to grow large and small. A Minish! Their backstories are going to be the same as a fairy. Small pixie-like creatures in forest villages built into tree stumps and mushrooms. That sort of thing. Could you try reworking a character that fits more into that? Wizards and magical folk are incredibly rare in this world, but magic would be more common for a minish. Doing a little reading up on the subject on the loz wiki would be all I ask.
This is perfect, but would it be okay if I used a different character that I think would work better for this campaign
That’s great, sailor, do you have any eta on that new sheet?
Ok, how about this. Quin has gotten his hands on a map of some ruins located somewhere in central Hyrule(part of archeologist background and he is a cartographer so he just likes maps). He’s explored a few ruins on the eastern side of Hyrule but hasn’t gone beyond the Dueling Peaks. Since Hyrule Field is generally consider unsafe he asked Esi to accompany him. He specializes mostly in stealth and detecting enemies and traps and wanted someone who has more combat oriented skills but is still fairly sneaky. We set out and then reach the Dueling Peaks.
Esi accepted the request to join the more experienced Scout in the ruins. She understood that Quin is more specialized in stealth and that she is better at combat therefore if they encounter any Monsters she could help him defeat them. Plus she could also explore the ruins and perhaps find something of interest. This is the first quest she had been accepted on in a few days so she took a few minutes to get set up to go on the quest. She heard of Quin though she is not in the same battalion as him. Still, it is mainly because of their year gap and different specialization.

I wish I could like/rate posts on this forum. These all work perfectly for me.
@purplepotatolover I know it might seem like I’m picking on you, but trust me I love your energy and I want you here. The mention of the word “battalion” implies a bit more structure to this reforming world than I want to go for. There might be a local town guard for each place, but beyond that there would be no guilds, military, etc. You didn’t do anything wrong here, I just wanted to clarify. Any Ranger skills, etc you picked up would have been your character’s sole efforts! Embrace being a badass all on your own lol
i want to push the theme of Hyrule being a land in disrepair. Any semblance of government or organization beyond a few small towns would be nonexistent
im just trying to use correct wording its not a skill I'm the best in and you are making my face hurt from smiling you are two wholesome

Esi and Quin most likely studied the same skills with the exact same people meaning we probably had frequent contact growing up but due to the nature of being a ranger, which is often long stretches of lonely scouting and being a year apart in age, we just haven’t seen each other much since we graduated from being apprentices.

exactly the kind of background I was hoping would sprout up eventually
Born in Juntz Jahnz (Juntz Village) (Grabisco Kingdom)
Backstory:
Zantar is the son of a woodcutter who was the leader of a small village. He grew up knowing that he will one day take over his father’s business. Zantar was a well-respected person in the small community because he was well liked. He was always helpful, and he was kind to everyone.
One day, a group of people from the city of Juntz arrived in the village and started to take a liking to Zantar. They offered to make him a member of their group, but he refused saying that he would like to remain a woodcutter. On that fateful day, a group of evil people attacked Zantar’s village and killed everyone.
Zantar was able to escape, but he was injured and lost. He wandered the land for a while until he ran into a priest of the light. The priest took him in and gave him food and shelter. Over time, he taught Zantar how to use magic. Zantar was very grateful, and he vowed to use his new found powers to help people.
Zantar is currently traveling the land of Grabisco, helping the people wherever he can.
Personality:
Zantar is very kind and caring. He is very polite, and he always tries to help people whenever he can. He is very kind to children. He is always eager to help people, but he is cautious and often thinks before he acts. He has a great sense of humor, and he is always willing to make jokes.
Appearance:
Zantar is about 5 feet tall. He is muscular and has short, brown hair. He has blue eyes and a tan complexion. He has a very friendly, but serious expression on his face.

I like to make people’s days better as opposed to worse for having met me. Thankyou :)
So you are another Anti-depressing person like me. That means we would get along quite well

You’re not understanding me my friend. This campaign is not happening in the extended universe of DND lore. Nor is it a sandbox campaign where you can make mention of your own original themes and powers. While I could see working a “priest of light” into the story we’re doing here, your character needs to come from a town in the kingdom of Hyrule. Where the Legend of Zelda videogame series takes place. The mention of other original towns and kingdoms goes against the theme. I’ll need you to put a bit of effort into trying to fit the narrative and universe we’re using. Lest we start without you.
A bit of patience, please. Like I said, I’m holding out for a reply from another interested party and Gray still hasn’t finished a character which fits into the story. If I hear nothing from our other player by the end of the weekend, and Gray has either completed a character or bowed out of the campaign I will announce a start date as soon as possible. I promise.
im good for now im just waiting for the others to get set up

Sorry, I have been a DM for the past 4 years and the only time I have played is a roll20 game where the world is basically going through Armageddon and everything is trying to kill us. I had to optimize everything on my character for combat and most of the RP is massive evil monsters telling us to join or die. I am just excited for something where role play and real story telling is a thing(not that I mind going 1v1 against an adult dragon at level 5 and killing it, but it’s still a lit hack n slash for my taste)

Also I assume we won’t be using this thread for the main narrative?
definitely not. It, as well as our dice rolls and DM commands, will be in separate threads all together.
