So I am debating my level 4 feat, I currently have sharpshooter, but I am also considering the alert, observant and dungeon delver feats. Any opinions?
Any would be fine, but I could get creative with the dungeon delver feat working into certain missions if you took that. It depends on what you think fits your character best at the end of the day. I think sharpshooter fits your emphasis on hunting vs combat like Esi
I will go with the dungeon delver feat since it works with the more archeological side of my character. Hunting was how he initially left the village but he now focuses more on ruins and guiding expeditions into them and the dungeon delver feat seems more appropriate to that end.
I have an even better idea. A legend of Zelda race known for having the power to grow large and small. A Minish! Their backstories are going to be the same as a fairy. Small pixie-like creatures in forest villages built into tree stumps and mushrooms. That sort of thing. Could you try reworking a character that fits more into that? Wizards and magical folk are incredibly rare in this world, but magic would be more common for a minish. Doing a little reading up on the subject on the loz wiki would be all I ask.
Backstory: Conmin was the son of a traveler and a philandering maiden in Kakariko village. After the traveler left the maiden and baby, the mother fell grievously ill, and the baby would have died if he hadn't been found by a nearby thieves guild, who took him in and trained him to be one of them. Now Conmin wanders the streets, taking from travelers and merchants, barely surviving.
Personality: Conmin is a charismatic, charming young man that flatters you into a false sense of security, then takes what he pleases. With his friends however he is a grave, sad, and self-loathing man, who masks it by making self-depricating jokes and doing crazy stunts, half-hoping that he will die in the process.
Bonds: Conmin is forever grateful to the thieves guild for saving his life. But when he isn't stealing he is watching one of the women in his village, for he has developed a crush for her, but he has not worked up the nerve to talk to her yet. One of his greatest desires is to kill the man who helped birth him, for abandoning him and his mother.
Ideals: One day man will die, civilizations will crumble and become the earth, and the world will die, so you better have a hell of a time while you still can.
Flaw: If I see something shiny, I can't help but take it.
I don’t have a lot of problem with this character. Mainly the existence of a thieves guild. If we could scrap that, but assume that being a citizen of kakariko village gave him the skills necessary for thievery, that would be more on-theme. Also, if your character steals so regularly, the other villagers would likely shun him and drive him out of the village. Is it okay to work that into your character’s backstory as well?
sorry i do that a lot in my explanation i will restrict the mentions and try to reword to make it sound not so videogamey.
Thankyou kindly. Do you and @Eldercarr want to be childhood friends? Rivals? Perhaps you started practicing archery at the same time and that led to disagreements? Did you ever go after the same prey in the wild? Any of this stimulating ideas?

Ok, instead of a thieves guild taking him in, his mother died when he was a small child and he learned to survive, after years of thieving he was finally caught and chased out of the village, since then he has been roaming tge countryside, hunting for survival.

A perfect place to meet our two rangers. Sounds good to me!

Why would Quin consider somebody who is a whole year younger than him a rival? It’s absurd.😛

You make a good point. They are bandits by trade indeed. Perhaps they’d look into recruiting him after our story starts…
Description: Garvii is a gruff wanderer seeking inner peace and purpose while flaring into violent outbursts with his Great Sword while in combat.
Background: Garvii left Rito Village before reaching adulthood. The ease with which the other Rito found their inner song bewildered him. When he listened to his heart, he heard nothing but silence… and it infuriated him. Fearful for how his perspective would impact his family, he left the comfort of home to wander alone in search of his song.
The first few years in the wilderness were strenuous but Garvii took to the hermetic lifestyle quickly enough and found a quiet serenity in the rocky bluffs and canyons of the southern Tabantha Frontier while not fighting for his life. He adopted a ferocious fighting style with a Great Sword to combat the Blue Lizalfos Black Bokoblin native to the area, channeling his inner frustrations.

What an interesting matchup, a Rito Heavyweight. I’m thinking your barbarian deserves a great sword unique to his people.
The Roc Feather: (2d6 damage) A Rito Greatsword passed down through the tribe and given to Garvii before he left the village. The only one of it’s kind, it boasts similar craftsmanship to the extremely light Rito Broadswords. Because of this, the incredibly strong can swing it incredibly fast and even use it mid flight.
This sword’s attack rolls gain the added proficiency bonus of the user’s strength AND dexterity.

As for you two Hylians. I’m thinking a racial bonus of this sort:
Hylians are naturally in-tune with Hyrule’s naturally flowing magics. Because of this, they have an innate magic sense and the ability to discern the use of magical artifacts quite easily.
Once per day you may cast detect magic at no cost.

Yeah, very cool. I like the name's tie-in with LoZ lore.
I wasn't sure how heavy weapon and flight would balance out exactly. I'm thinking there should be some kind of offset where aerial maneuvers are limited to long jumps and lunges as opposed to unrestricted aerial combat.

Well Gray Sailor still hasn’t refined their character for us to start with quite yet. In addition, there is one other player who expressed interest in the request thread who has yet to pop into our OOC. I’ll PM them and give them some time, but I’m optimistic to start before the weekend is through.

That’s great, sailor, do you have any eta on that new sheet?
In the meantime, I’m thinking with such an eclectic crew at low level I’d like to start a few of you on individual paths before we join the party. If that’s okay with everyone, I’d like to start discussing that now.
@PurplepotatoPower and @ElderCarr I’d like both of you to be leaving the Hateno area. Whether this is the first time your characters have done so or not is up to you both individually. I’d also like it to be your character’s collective idea to start the monster-hunting group our story will center around. You two can discuss exactly how your characters decided this, who’s idea it was first, etc. but I will have to force this little plot point out of you two to get the ball rolling.
Upon approaching the Duelling Peaks river passing through the mountains, you will both come upon a sizable group of monsters blocking the path to central Hyrule. One that @Dndlover_2 has been stalking for a few days on account of their sizable hoard of weapons and other goods they’ve collected from unfortunate travelers. This is where you three will meet, either in the midst of combat or otherwise.
@Dndlover_2 to put a bit of a finer point on your roll here, you’ve been mostly sticking to the wilds around kakariko village until recently, occasionally popping back into town to steal a Cuccoo or two. even being an antisocial thief I’m going to need you to come up with a reason to stick with the group and make contact initially. Even if you’re just “using” then for protection or to rob them later, whatever keeps you involved in the main plot. A little extra helicopter parenting before we hop in, as it’s a habit amongst rogues to play the lone wolf I’ve noticed lol.
and lastly our tank. @wbwerner92 it makes the most sense to me that your character would be alone to start, given you’re coming from the tabantha frontier on the other side of the continent. We’ll have you engaging a group of somewhat higher level creatures than our other party members to accentuate your character’s toughness above theirs. Perhaps also commenting that the monsters have become bolder and more numerous recently. They might even attack you while you’re camping, whatever you think is most epic for you. I’m not going to make you hike all the way across Hyrule field in character, lmao, but I do want to give you a bit of characterization on your own seeing as your character is literally isolated. I just think it will add to your character’s gruffness you seem to already putting off.
alright everyone… please discuss the ideas I’ve just put forth. Let me know your thoughts.
