Ferro is cowering in fear inside the overturned carriage when he senses a shift in the mood. He tentatively pokes his head out and looks around. “What’s going on…?”
“Lady, you’re crazy if you think any of us should be going in that manor! This is not what I signed up for!! It’s too bad about Mr Noh but that’s the wicked way of the world. I’ll just be heading back home—”
Then he sees the mists blocking and ushering them towards the manor, and with a curse he changes his tune.
“I suppose we have no choice. But let it be known, here and now, that I expect to be well compensated for this!”
Ruby breaths a sigh of relief as Belko recovers from the healing potion. Her eyes drawn toward the blood caused from the injuries of the battle. The faintest lick of her lips before she is able to refocus. She looks at Ferro and chuckles a little.
“Your not wrong about the compensation it better be damn good. This is not exactly going the way these jobs typically do. Now help me get him up and into the manor before this damn fog takes us.”
As you step through the threshold of this stately home, you have a moment to get your bearings. A sweeping double staircase encircles the foyer, framing an ornate mirror with ivory trim. A massive, unbroken tapestry ripples across most of the exposed walls, depicting descendants of the Skhalhammer family through the ages. The mirror is abutted by two doors, one on either side of you, at the foot of each staircase -- with more likely up the stairs. You can see your reflections in the mirror -- as well as a tall, wispy young woman in a simple frock with flowering hair and a dour expression. She opens her mouth, her voice a harried whisper, but her tone still upbeat:"I heard my father yelling. He's not with you. I suppose that means he'll be with me soon enough."
Ruby takes a breath as the chaos has subsided to take in the manor. She is taken back a bit by the appearance of the young woman in the mirror but is less alarmed as she listens to her tone and what she has to say.
Ferro is already taking the supernatural-ness in stride. He expected nothing less after the craziness that occurred outside. He'll lend half an ear to the others talking to the possibly-dead-person in the mirror while he looks about. He will take a few minutes studying the tapestry and will also listen at each door on the ground level.
Ruby takes a breath as the chaos has subsided to take in the manor. She is taken back a bit by the appearance of the young woman in the mirror but is less alarmed as she listens to her tone and what she has to say.
”Are you Darnel’s daughter Nissa?”
The ghost gives a mild smile and nods. "Indeed I am. Where is my father? Are you here to help me?"Her tone suddenly shifts to a sad note again.
Ferro you don't hear anything at the doors, but as you pass by the mirror something catches your eye in regards to the tapestry. Looking right at the tapestry normally depicts a tableaux of the Skhalhammer family, from their traitorous beginnings to their kingdom before becoming mercenaries and privateers. At the end it shows Jhaal Skhalhammer consolidating their wealth into one of the most merciless and richest corporations in the world...
But taking a step back and eyeing it in the reflection of the mirror reveals something very different. Instead you see a village being attacked and plundered by the STC, killing many of the inhabitants and making off with a small, curious looking chest with 3 glowing sigils on it. You see the STC agents bring the chest back to Jhaal who takes it to his study where he uses a fancy ornate dagger to scatter the sigils off the chest and open the box. An immense amount of fog comes rushing out and an inhuman face, almost dragon-like is seen in the fog as it rushes through the manor and surrounds it! The final image in the tapestry shows Skhalhammer Manor surrounded by fog as the strange face looms behind the house.
There also appears to be a small room hidden behind the tapestry.
As the area appears safe for the moment, should the team take a short rest here before proceeding? While chatting with the mirror ghost girl?
Ferro will share all that he saw. Perhaps if he shows the trick of looking at the tapestry’s reflection in the mirror then the other adventurers can appreciate it too? He’s intrigued by the fact that the haunting seems to be trying to tell them a story. Perhaps they’ve already found a clue as to how to end the haunting? Something to do with that chest and the sigils.
He also wants to make a sketch of the 3 sigils, it could be important, but he doesn’t have writing utensils. Perhaps one of the other adventurers has something he could borrow? Either way, he’ll try to commit them to memory.
Finally, he will light his hooded lantern and then carefully open the door leading to the small room hidden behind the tapestry and peek inside. He will direct the lantern’s beam of light inside if it’s too dark for him to see.
Inside the closet is a wooden crate which sits open, but inside the crate is a piece of paper on which is written a letter:
"Here you are, sir. The dreamkin put up quite a fight, but we got it in the end. Sometimes the best negotiating tool isn't oratory skills. Sometimes you just need a superior military force and a proven willingness to use it to its fullest extent. These dreamkin raised an awful fuss when we took their special chest, though. You'd jolly well think we'd taken their whole way of life away from them. The plight of the primitives, I suppose. Anyway, no matter. This should've arrived in plenty of time for your upcoming banquet. Bet you'll be mighty chuffed to show this off, eh? Especially that chest.
See you soon, sir.

Seeing Belko on the ground, and Ruby’s attempts to rouse him, Ferro will take his healing potion and carefully feed it into Belko’s mouth.

she looks at Rai and ask him
”Are you good and able to help?”
Belko startles awake still shivering, " Who? What? Where is that thing? Oh....thankyou."
Ferro help Belko to his feet and prompts him towards the manor.
“Come on, for better or for worse, we are heading inside.”
" That....would not be my first choice...but if wishes were horses, eh."
Belko brushed himself off and began trotting towards the manor.
" So we won then?"
Ferro grimaces but he says,
“Uhh, yeah, we sure did, thanks in big part to your, um, contribution. You took a nasty blow at the end there but yeah, we sure showed them!”
Belko sports an enormous grin....which recedes with each step closer to the manor....
