This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gan knows next to nothing about other religions and arcana (he barely has a working knowledge of Kord and the temple he's managed to get hooked up with) but on the off chance he can add to the discussion: Arcana Check: 4
Ula has artificially and magically enhanced a carrying pouch to become a makeshift bag of holding and is going to try and stuff the lady in the bag and make a run (or fly) for it.
Gan you similarly know that the magic is not that of the inquisitors, but are unsure about anything else.
Ula, you begin sliding the bag up from the small goblins feet. She disappears into another dimension as you work the bag up her body. You feel an increasing tension working against you that gets stronger and stronger until you finally get the bag over her head and snap it closed. The tension is gone in an instant. The black funnel retreats back towards the sky. The lightning strikes start to slow and sound distant. Everyone hears an otherworldly roar that seems to come from everywhere at once then fades away as the storm clouds overhead dissipate.
If you use your bonus action with expeditious retreat you can clear the wall and nearly make it to the bluffs before others can react.
Onizos, your hex overcomes the cowering guard and his eyes roll back into his head and he falls dead. ((sorry for the delay, we were still in initiative for timing))
All, with the storm gone you can now see a guard on each of the far north and south towers. They have been cowering from the chaos and remain stunned at what they just witnessed long enough for you all to escape the fort to the west. If you linger they will eventually sound an alarm.
Morgid chases after Ula "You better be able to get her out of there!" to the others "Regroup in the cave"
((Combat is ended unless you re-engage with the guards))
Gan hesitates for the briefest of seconds, torn between going back inside the keep and seeing what valuables the inquisitor or guard might have had and not getting caught out here by himself.
With a blink, he chooses survival over whatever cursed dagger he might find this time and sprints as quickly as he can up the ladder and down the rope and to the cave.
Ula absolutely books it with the nearly dead witch in her bag, under her speed enhancement, zipping back out of the keep and as far as she can fly towards the cave. As soon as she can she will dump the lady out in shelter of the cave and then pull out a small syringe with a reddish pink liquid in it and gently stick the woman on the arm and cast cure wounds. (heal for 7)
As you free Bol'bara from the bag, you sense the cave get slightly darker. Something still haunts the goblin but it is clear the immediate threat is gone.
Morgid and the others enter as you prepare your syringe "Praise Maglubiyet" he exalts on seeing Bol'bara then looks around the cave. "We can stay here for a few minutes, but there isn't time to rest. Those Dwend's will eventually replace their soiled pants and come looking for us"
As you plunge your healing liquid into her vein you feel strength returning to her body. After a moment she opens her eyes and sits up against the cave wall. She looks around in confusion until she finds faces she recognizes "Morgid.... Yabo..." she coughs and smiles "...It's about time"
She looks at Gan sternly. "Doubtful. Anyone who could afford to bribe wouldn't let themselves get stationed here. And the ones here probably only stay out of fear of becoming Inquisitor Pellinost's next experiment"
When asked about the cloud she takes a moment then under her breath whispers "Trush"
She eventually looks up at the party, "A shadow demon. It is his chaotic magic which gives me power. But harnessing it is a constant struggle. He desires nothing more than to use our connection to wreak havoc on this plane. I must regularly visit the ritual stone to amplify my will and keep him at bay. That's where they took me. Without the ritual stone's power I won't be able to stop him. I can feel his pull even now"
Onizos sheds his appearance as a Dewndie in order to have a proper introduction with the witch. He bows low to her and says,
“Madam, we are at your service. We are an elite strike force, hand picked by Lord Buhfal II, to rescue you. We have plunged through thick and thin to achieve this moment of standing before you, free of your evil kidnappers.”
Ula took a few steps back as the lady revived a bit. "Hiya! I'm Ula! Sorry about the whole bag thing but it was the easiest way to get you out of there! Sounds dangerous though...wait, you mean that big ugly black rock we saw a while ago? I know YOU weren't there, but it zapped the blue guy I think and Mr. Many Words was out of it for a moment too maybe. But how about getting you back?"
She nods at Onizos, "You have my thanks. Buhfal clearly chose well"
When Ula mentions the stone,
"Yes, yes that sounds about right. It can be dangerous if you don't take your time. I have to be careful when collecting fragments. I think I can walk, we should get going, not sure I'll be able to hold Trush off until we get to the stone"
Bol'bara takes the stone. She grips it in a fist, closes her eyes and begins chanting. Within a minute, you feel the cave grow slightly brighter and you all have a feeling of calm come over you.
When she is done she says, "Thank you, I should now be in control for several tendays". She opens her fist and holds the stone back out to you Gan. The internal glow of the stone is gone, it now resembles any other dull black stone.

(Table talk, just kill her? Sever the conduit)

((Yabo'd be looking to sever you if the mission fails. :D Offer it one of the Dwend's instead?))

So the guard was killed though?

"Get to the tower and over the wall!"
Yabo will be the last one over the wall, and flip free the grappling hook when he gets to the other side to make pursuit harder.

"Hey," Gan says when Bol'bara revives and looks around. "Them Dwendies got money in there?"
He nods his head to the cave entrance, and in the direction of the fort.
"And should we be worrying about the big ugly cloud that was about to eat you up back there?"

Gan raises an eyebrow and then looks through his pouch until he finds the stone fragment he had collected earlier.
”I need that back when you is done. That shard is the only reason I’m out ambulating in this damn swamp.” Gan says as he holds out the shard.
