Jorg was a druid who often accompanied Tegin on the road not only as a guard but as a friend and healer. They often had discussions of an afterlife. Tegin believed in elvish deities where Jorg believed that when dead your spirit lived on but your physical body decayed, feeding mother earth. Tegin enjoyed their discussions on these walks from town to town that he gifted Jorg a ring for his birthday or at least the day they thought was his birthday. Tegin wasn't sure what the ring did, he said he found it in his travels. Jorg didn't ask any questions as he knew he wouldn't get a straight answer. Jorg wore it as a symbol of their friendship. However, their friendship came to a tragic ending, or so Tegin thought, when they were ambushed by a group of goblins led by an orc. Jorg fought them off as best he could saving Tegin's life by sacrificing himself. The goblins looted Tegin's merchant cart and left Jorg to die. A goblin named Ximar who was young, curious, and carrying various plants and herbs in his pouch, approached the near dead Jorg. Ximar stood over Jorg and gave him the seeds of a poppy to ease his death. Jorg muttered something in druidic and gave his ring to the goblin before he died. That night Ximar put on the ring, not knowing that Jorg had figured out how to transfer his spirit into the ring. Jorg's ring transferred his spirit into young Ximar where they now share one mind. Jorg/Ximar sought out Tigrin and was able to convince him that Ximar was also Jorg. Tigrin is the only one who knows of Jorg and Ximar's secret.

Backstory: Aaric is a bit of a loner, having felt different all of his young life. His parents, superstitious villagers, abandoned him as an infant in the woods when he first opened his eyes - and they saw the strange, starry constellations he gazed out from. Fortunately, he was found and reluctantly "adopted" by Dumont, a hermitic druid whose woods Aaric's parents chanced upon. As the child grew older, Dumont took him on as an apprentice of sorts, realizing the boy's potential. As an outcast from polite society, Aaric grew up with few friends beyond Dumont, the forest creatures, and the occasional visitor to their woodland grove, usually traveling sages or merchants seeking Dumont's expertise, or the rare herbs and other flora cultivated in the grove.
One of those was a fairly frequent visitor named Tegin, whose tales as an adventurer fascinated the young apprentice. When Dumont finally deemed Aaric trained enough to venture out on his own, Aaric waited for Tegin's next visit - and begged the adventurer to take him with, so he might experience the world beyond their forest. To his surprise, Tegin readily accepted, seeing in Aaric a decent, well-mannered traveling companion, knowledgeable herbalist when it came time to deal in such wares (and one whose combat and healing abilities could come in handy.)
Though they no longer travel together daily, Aaric and Tegin still keep in touch regularly; Aaric has set up a new "home" of sorts, on the outskirts of civilization, where the townsfolk can seek him out more readily, but still allows him space to commune with the forest. A few days prior, on the morning of his birthday, a package was delivered to Aaric's grove - inside was a rust-colored bag (which proved to be magical, and capable of summoning random critters, to the young druid's delight), and a letter, inviting Aaric and a few other travelling companions to join Tegin at The Swinging Piglet in the city of Halfhaven...
Not sure why it says potentially manipulated dice rolls, as I haven't messed with them, just edited the backstory text.

There are many bugs with the dice roller and this message can easily pop up for various reasons, which may have nothing to do with the dice roller per se. The best advice I can give, is to let posts with dice rolls alone and never edit them. In fact the best practice is to roll in one post and then quote those rolls in the post where you want to use them (as you did for your ability scores). If you need to change something in a long post such as this one and want to be safe of that warning, you need to address your changes with a new post.
Background/backstory:Folk hero, he was a member of the town guard for a bit, before defeating a monster in the process of defending a priest, then became a paladin. Has seen a few fights.
(also, won’t be on much for a few weeks, so don’t pick me if you need me to be here all the time.)
