The party meets on the outskirts of the forest, and heads in. The sparse trees grow larger and denser, until eventually the canopy blocks all but a few rays of sunlight. As the sights and sounds of Dolsela disappear behind you, you feel as if you've crossed some sort of threshold, and the landscape begins to change.

Tall pines spread all around you. A thin layer of snow covers the ground and trees. The crisp cold bites against your skin.

Everybody roll a Constitution saving throw against the cold!

"Auril's owls, it's cold," Revelry curses, taking 2 points cold damage. "What good is having hellish blood in my veins if it won't even keep me warm?"

She continues grumbling quietly for the next 30 minutes.

After half an hour of walking, the crunch of heavy boots on snow is interrupted by the whistle of a crossbow bolt, which lands with a thud just a few feet away from the party.

"That was a warning shot!" says a gruff male voice. "Don't come any closer."

Emerging from the trees 80 feet ahead of you are five humanoid figures. They wear leather armor in various states of disrepair, and all of them appear well armed.

"Looks like you're outnumbered, so why don't you all just drop your valuables on the ground, and walk away? This doesn't need to be a fight," says another figure.

 Aeron raises his hands in a non hostile manner, "Look, friends, you really don't want to do this." He says, looking at each of them for a moment, "I'm sure you all have a good 50 years or so left on your life, and why ruin that? I may not know any of you personally. But i do know the radius of the fireball spell, which i think you should also take into account."

Whistler tensed. Their assailants were out of his throwing range, and he hadn't equipped his buckler. They had him at a disadvantage, even if not the others.

He looked toward Aeron, then back toward the figures. He hoped his companion's threat was taken seriously... he' would have hated to have to take a crossbow bolt or two before getting his licks in on their opponents.

 For a second, aeron looks over at whistler, grins (Which probably is either a good thing, or a bad thing.), then looks back at the bandits

Rizo stops as requested and leans on his walking stick, club at his side and shield strapped on his back. Hoping to help Aeron in dissuading the bandits from attacking them, he adds, "Look, we're on our way into the forest to search for treasure, we haven't found any just yet. If you'd wait here until we return, surely we will have found enough to share with you. Right now there's nothing to take from us half worth the effort. We've spent our last coins on drinks to summon the bravery to venture out into this forsaken forest. Why else would we want to do that?"

Let's get an Intimidation check from Aeron and a Persuasion check from Rizo! 

The DC will be the same for both, based on a group Insight check from the bandits.

Revelry squints into the distance, and then scoffs.

"Come on, we could totally take them," she says to the party under her breath. "And a little action might stop my toes from going numb."

But she doesn't make a move, and waits to see how the bandits will respond.
