I still can't believe the first roll of mine was a nat 1. Perfect start, only made better with the follow-up with ANOTHER nat 1 in the exact same skill check. (also, may have forgotten that initiative rolls don't exist, so let's assume that Mordekai is holding an action if a goblin has the guts to step up to him.)
Question about combat for Iefyr. So if his attack hits, he can then spend a bardic inspo to use a flourish, which would then add a bonus effect (moving the opponent, doing aoe damage, or boosting his ac) and deal extra damage. How should I go about this as far as posts? Would it be ok to edit my post once I see whether or not it hits, narrating the effects and rolling extra damage? Should I include the bonus effect and damage I intend to do with a "if it hits" disclaimer on the original post? Or should I treat it like a reaction, making a separate post for the flourish before something else happens that would contradict it?
I think the best option would be to post what you would like to do if it hits. If there are times where you are not sure until you hit, you can post a reaction separate to your new turn post.
Are we all rolling initiative? or just the 3 that got there first? i don't really know how it all works when it comes to play by post
Everyone just goes at the "same time". I will take the actions in order of posting. After I post, a new round will begin and everyone is free to take another turn.
One thing I forgot to think about is reactions. If you need to take a reaction, it can be used the following round of turns. Please post your reaction in a separate post to your action, movement round. When looking over the posts, I will take reactions into effect before the new actions.
There may be some times where the reaction changes what happens and make other players turns null. If this is the case, I will ask that player to take a new action before moving on to the next round.
Also, the combat is new for me as well. If there are things that are not working or if people have ideas on a different way to run combat, I am more than open to ideas. Just trying to balance pace of game with players choices.
I’ll keep it in mind, but for now, I’ll just use the held action as movement since I already called for a halt in the action anyway. Mordekai Da moved up 40 and what happens, happens.
(spoilers, if an arrow comes at me, I will try and catch it, all the time, every time)

I will definitely let you take your held action of attack once we start another round. Just put it in separate post from your new action.

Mordekai Da, Teifling Monk - Level 3
you should strike in case we didn't get them all; you haven't taken an action yet this round
Oh yeah, I forgot about the ones not near the bodies. 😬

I'm going to wait a little longer for Mooseburg to try to post. Then I will post my turn.
In "initiative" I will generally wait about one day to post my turn to keep the pace going.
