Feels weird that the king would jump to this conclusion immediately.*

Ghurk's eyebrows knit together. "Do oceans dry out in deserts?"
One of the maids looks at Ghurk, slightly intimidated to be staring at a bugbear. "Well, I think they would eventually dry out unless there is a water source somewhere else. It was a small sea, but it dried up very quickly. That is unusual, though."
Ghurk's eyes widen. "There are strange clouds, but hovering over the garden specifically. I know the way. I wonder if that strange weed has anything to do with this..."
Ghurk begins walking in the direction of the garden.

Will everyone stop calling him "The Demogorgon"? It's his name, not a title!
You walk out into the garden, which is larger than you could've ever imagined (well, for all but Ghurk, because he has been there before) and is filled with beautiful flowers.
I'll go over to Rain and mutter, "There are no structure weaknesses in the castle. There's no way the goblinoids could have gotten in. I think that someone should check the king's personal area, stealthily."
(If this was before Rolan and the King left:)
Rain makes an odd rumbling (purring?) sound for a moment. He glances at Saralynn and then down at his plate to pick up some bread. He looks up at whatever other conversation or activity is happening and nods, saying quietly, "Yes, I agree." He looks over to Saralynn again and says, "We should talk after dinner and make a plan."
(If this was after Rolan and the King left, and the group is alone / has no one nearby:)
Rain responds clearly but quietly, as though afraid of being overheard, "Yes, I thought to look earlier, but there were too many others around. Maybe once the castle goes to sleep? Let's maybe go into the garden to make a plan."
"There are many signs here, but I cannot read them, yet. It reminds me of the story of the dove and the mongoose. Mongoose sometimes kill and eat birds, but the dove and the mongoose were friends since they were young. So, when the dove and her husband had to leave to find food for their hatchlings, they asked the mongoose to guard their nest in the bush. When they returned, they found the mongoose covered in blood and the nest broken and scattered. At first, the husband dove was angry, thinking that the mongoose got hungry and attacked their hatchlings. But his wife knew her friend, and she took her time to look for all of the signs. She heard her children chirping nearby. Looking down, she saw a dark form under the bush. There lay the snake that the mongoose had killed, and the nest was destroyed in the fight. The mongoose had gathered the children and hidden them in a shallow burrow nearby. Right now, I just see the scattered nest and the missing hatchlings. What happened? I cannot tell without looking and finding more signs."
Ghurk's eyes widen. "There are strange clouds, but hovering over the garden specifically. I know the way. I wonder if that strange weed has anything to do with this..."

(Note that the map does not show any exits other than the main entrance to the throne room. Where is the garden? How did we get there?)
Rain gathers his pack and other gear and follows Saralynn. After the earlier attack by the goblins, he is treating this castle as though there could be a threat around every corner. For example, when he walks through a door, he walks through the middle of the door and immediately checks both sides in case a sneaky goblin is waiting to ambush them. When in the garden, he walks away from the castle about 20' or 30'. He wants to be far enough that no one in the castle would be able to hear them if they're talking quietly, but he wants to be able to dash back into the castle in just one round if something attacks them.
Rain looks at the clouds above and raises his chin, sniffing the air, his ears swiveling. (Does Rain think that this could be a natural storm? And does the storm seem like an immediate danger? nature18)
(If the storm seems to pose an immediate threat from lightning, wind, etc.)
As the thunder rolls, his lowers his ears and looks at the others, saying, "I do not like the look of this storm! I think that we should go back into our rooms and make our plans there."
(If the storm does not seem to pose an immediate threat...)
Rain makes a weird grimace and then turns his attention back to the other two. He glances around to check that he doesn't see anyone nearby (at least no one close enough to overhear them): perception [roll]1d20+4[/skill].
He looks at Saralynn, smiles a toothy grin, and says, "Little Reed in the Desert. Things happened so quickly, I do not think that I know your name. And where have your lovely Blue Wisps gone?"
(And when there's time in the conversation to turn his attention to Ghurk.)
"And you, Far-Reaching Bugbear, how come you to be here? In this castle? Right when the goblins attacked? Our friend, the Spikey Turtle, fought bravely. He has left, and we do not know whether he will return. I understand him! Ever since I met this silly King, it feels less like I have come to help a neighbor in need and more like I have been lured into a trap." Rain's nose wrinkles weirdly as he presses his lips together, staring at Ghurk and waiting for his answer. You notice that his swords are in their sheaths on his back, but he holds a short staff in one hand and the spear from one of the goblins in the other.

The king stood up. "Well, I'm not sure if there are any sea people left, but they probably moved to a less dry climate. The sea has dried up."

Ghurk's ears perk up.
"A sea... dried up? That seems strange. Are you sure we're ok?"

"Well, I better get going." And the king left the room.
You are now left alone in this room, other than the maids cleaning up the food.

(Oh, and I forgot to mention this earlier, but do you have your character sheets? Might need them sometime. I already have Rains' sheet.)

Ah, that's sad. I love making characters, and I hate the limit of 6 without membership.
