Carl starts poking through the bloodstained weapons and armor, looking for any chain shirt, scale mail or breastplate, as well as looking for any special looking battle axes.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
((Carl is going to stay there until he’s searched through all of the armor and weapons, grumbling to himself.))
From DM guide, about repeated checks with his search through the pile, don’t know if this would apply?
Multiple Ability Checks
Sometimes a character fails an ability check and wants to try again. In some cases, a character is free to do so; the only real cost is the time it takes. With enough attempts and enough time, a character should eventually succeed at the task. To speed things up, assume that a character spending ten times the normal amount of time needed to complete a task automatically succeeds at that task. However, no amount of repeating the check allows a character to turn an impossible task into a successful one.
In other cases, failing an ability check makes it impossible to make the same check to do the same thing again. For example, a rogue might try to trick a town guard into thinking the adventurers are undercover agents of the king. If the rogue loses a contest of Charisma (Deception) against the guard’s Wisdom (Insight), the same lie told again won’t work. The characters can come up with a different way to get past the guard or try the check again against another guard at a different gate. But you might decide that the initial failure makes those checks more difficult to pull off.

Carl you search through the pile for some time. Most of the armour is torn and damaged but you do manage to recover a decent chain shirt that looks like it might fit you.
You manage to pluck out a couple of battle axes but they are disappointingly mundane.
Carl grunts and picks through the items, discarding the mundane battle axes with a “Bah!”, chewing on his beard and grumbling. A small smile comes forth when he finds the chain shirt however, he uses a rag to wipe off any blood stains and promptly begins changing into it. “This mighta saved that goblin arrow and that javelin from that beast from sticking in my chest. This is sturdy! Heh.” Carl is pleased, or appears as pleased as you have seen him. He stands and looks at the chest, saying “Careful there. Watch out.” He offers to help and examine it for any traps, whoever cares to look.

Sinju then pokes at the chest with his spear, and remembers a time when he was younger when he used to practice martial arts by chopping wooden boards in half, and Sinju then asks, "Hey, anyone want to see whats inside this box?"

OOC: Are you saying you want to karate chop the box Sinju? If so I love it... make an unarmed attack roll with advantage and add 1d8 to the usual damage.

OOC: Yes, I am going to karate-chop this box open
Sinju then raises his hand above his head and gives out a battle shout
Sinju you stand before a sturdy chest, your eyes focused and intense. You take a deep breath, centring yourself, and bring your hands up into a ready position. With lightning-fast speed, you draw your arm back and then thrusts it forward, aiming your hand at the centre of the lid.
As you strike, your hand slices through the air with incredible force, emitting a sharp "kiyah!" as you make contact with the wood. The impact is thunderous, and the lid shatters into several pieces, sending splinters flying in all directions.
You stands there for a moment, your hand still extended and trembling slightly from the force of the blow. You then pull your hand back and assumes a stance of readiness, ready for whatever may come your way.
In that single moment, you demonstrated the power and precision of your martial arts training, showing that you are a force to be reckoned with....
Inside the box you find:
A pouch containing 30 gold and assorted gems worth 100 gold
A fine silver dagger
A book bound in red leather and covered in strange runes
Three vials containing a familiar red fluid that you know to be potions of healing
Sinju then says in delight, "Oooh, extra healing potions!"
Sinju will then take the silver dagger, the book bound in leather, and one vial of healing. He then holds up the gold and jewels and the two other potions of healing and says, "I only need one more potion of healing. And I do not have any need for gold or gems. If anyone wants them come and take them"
Sinju will then unwrap the book and open it and begin to look inside
OOC: Do I edit the dagger and make it silvered? Or is it just a regular dagger in my inventory?
Sinju says to Carl, "Well, you have to first dicipline your body to both dish out pain, and take pain at the same time. However, crushing wooden boards is a common training exercise for monks."
