Diana you open the crate and rummage through its contents. You find more filthy rags, old bones and a few jars of what looks like pickled toes; a goblin delicacy.
At the bottom of the crate you find a glass vial containing a transparent liquid. On closer inspection it seems to have a large finger nail floating within it. You presume this is some sort of potion, perhaps one of the magic users in your party can identify it for you?
"I'll go out on a limb her and guess that Tharnak could," Neil says to Aedel. "But... if he can't do it, I suppose I could try and break the darn thing down."

“I certainly can.” Tharnak answers. He restows his bow and slips past the others, procures a lock pick and inserts it into the lock, then begins to move it around, feeling the tumblers and such. Thieves tools check: 8

If I haven’t offended you, don’t worry. I’m sure I’ll get to you eventually.
Tharnak you work your magic on the door and in a few brief moments it swings inwards. It would appear that it was not locked.
The door opens onto a small common room with a round table at its centre. A single candle flickers atop the table and around 20 copper in loose change is scattered about it, along with a set of dice and a small bloodstained pouch. It looks like your arrival interrupted the goblins leisure time.
Slumped against the far wall you see the body of a human male. Some hapless adventurer that came here ahead of you perhaps? It appears that the goblins had been using it for target practice as you see arrows and daggers poking out of it everywhere.
Tharnak you examine the box and it does not appear to be locked. Make an investigation check if you want to look for anything in particular... or you could try to open it?
What are the rest of you doing while Tharnak is scooping up the coins and examining the box?

Carl sees Diana pocket the potion and he comes up to her saying, “I can identify that later for you, if you wish. Hurry, let’s find the others, I don’t want to be alone in this place!” He pads along and with quick moving feet catches up to the others, saying “What have you found there?” He sees the body of the human male being used for target practice and he says “Ergh. Slimy rotten bastards. Guess the goblins had it comin to them, for what they did to this poor fella.” He takes one of the daggers and then investigates the body, seeing if there is anything else useful on it, where they could have been from, an unfortunate adventurer that came on a journey just like his, he supposes…

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Carl the man has been dead for a while and has been stripped of any worldly belongings it seems. You do note he is missing a hand.
Aedel you examine the cave structure noting that the passageways and rooms here seemed to have been roughly excavated. Stonework exists around the door frames and supporting pillars jut up here and there from the ground. You would guess that these tunnels are the result goblin work, they are crude and functional, nothing more.
Tharnak make a Dexterity saving throw as something springs from the box toward your hand.
Tharnak you release the box just in time as a snake springs outward toward your hand. It seems the goblins had a thing for keeping pets. Most likely the mouse next door was being kept to feed this vicious little reptile.
The now empty box drops to the ground and the snake with it.
Do any of you wish to explore this room further?
One more door remains on the western wall and this one stands ajar with a flickering firelight emanating from within. Beyond the last door the passage stretches on ahead of you all.
Tharnak you peer into the final room. A small fire pit still burns merrily near the far wall, the smoke being drawn into a natural fissure in the ceiling. Cooking implements and discarded food sit near the pit telling the story of a meal interrupted. A stool is tipped over nearby and to your left a large bed fills close to a third of the room. This appears to be the sleeping quarters of the Bugbear you recently fought.
A large chest sits at the foot of the bed and near the door is heaped a pile of bloodstained armour and weapons.
Carl you notice nothing unusual about the lock and cage. The mouse sniffs your hand and gives an excited squeak as you investigate.
Diana... just waiting for that roll :)
The rest of you are all now crowded around the closed door, weapons drawn, ready for what ever comes next... nothing happens

There is nothing more of interest in the crate.
