Marley lets out a sigh of relief as the party gets some distance from the temple, turning to look back the way they came and searching for any signs of pursuit. "Someday, when we are better prepared...." he says to himself quietly.
You see a large adult Green Dragon flying in to land at the temple. Besides that there is nothing in pursuit you can see.
The trip to the Brown Farm is quick and quite. Mr Littleroot is beside himself to be delivered his daughter still alive even though she has still not awaken.
Mr Brown: "Think the 5 you found her. What happened is she hurt? Why is she so pale?"
“The Kobolds that attacked your family wanted her for some ritual. She’s been through a lot and’ll likely need a few days rest.” He hesitates a moment, “they may still search for her though. If you can move from here that may be best while she recovers.” He talks calmly but fuses his words with some persuasion to hopefully convince the farmer that, with most his family gone, it may be best to move on and start again else where.
Mr Littleroot: "Your right I've nothing left at the farm but memories now. I have a brother with a far just outside of Central city. I'll head there."
He turns to Mr Brown.
"Want to buy a farm I'll sell it to ya cheep. If you let us risk your family by staying here a few days for my girl to recover"
Mr. Brown: "I can't take your family's farm maybe your kin will want it. But I'll farm it for you and the boys will clean up and sell off what they can. I'll send you half the profits and of course you can stay here I've known you my whole life. You can stay in the guest room."
Mr Littleroot takes the girl up stairs
Mr. BROWN: "What is yalls plan? Will you be staying the night?"
(Do we know the travel time back to town? If its possible to get back before dark, Maz would be highly interested in unwinding at the Tavern with some Ale and then crashing there if others agree)
Mr Brown "We will be happy to let you stay in the barn again tonight. Truth be told it will be peace of mind to have yall guarding the place or at least near by just incase. Let's have a meal you can tell the tale of the day and then rest"
You all have a lovely dinner with the Brown family. Mr. LITTLEROOT stays upstairs with his daughter.
After the meal Mrs Brown pulls out some old instruments and plays a tune. Maz happy to join in you both play a few songs as everyone starts to drift off to bed.
Maz as you go to call it a night Mrs Brown stops you.
Mrs Brown: "Wait here a moment please."
She runs up stairs and returns with a book.
Mrs Brown: "I want you to have this. It's a book I bought off a traveling merchant when I was a girl. It has songs and stories written by a bard from the days of the empire. I was going to learn Empirical so I could translate it to tell the tales but never did. I've memorized what I could read or its not much use to me anymore. I hope you get more out of it then I."
She gives you a hug and thanks your for the night of music and merriment before heading up stairs.
Maz roll me a investigation check ND performance roll.
Dies anyone else do anything particular before going to sleep?
Maz looks at Mrs. Brown and the book. "Oh, why thank you" He says a bit sheepishly as he takes the book eyeing it carefully. This is the first time he's been gifted something in a long time.

Investigation: 4
Performance: 18
With a 4. It's in Empirical you can't read a thing but with an 18 performance you skim the music you realize you know most of these songs. You learned them from your dad.... please level up to level 3 and choose your subclass. (Idea is you learn the new knowledge as you study this book)
Maz sleeps the night away. He dreams of the songs in the book and him playing them. His dreams feel so real and vivid, as if they’re indications of a future he could achieve.

(What time of day is it? If it’s getting towards dusk Sam will suggest staying the night. )

DM: it's late afternoon let's call it 5pm
If you left right away you could get to the guard checkpoint shake before it gets too late
(Do we know the travel time back to town? If its possible to get back before dark, Maz would be highly interested in unwinding at the Tavern with some Ale and then crashing there if others agree)
(If there isn't time to make it to town, maybe we should stay in the barn again).
Marley finds an excuse to walk by the kitchen, wondering what the Browns are making for dinner.
Sam says “if it’s all right with you all, I think we’ll take you up on the offer.”

Maz gives a shrug. He's ready to eat and get some sleep.

Nope)
If I haven’t offended you, don’t worry. I’m sure I’ll get to you eventually.

Crunch, feeling a bit tired, beds down.

Sam and Marley go ahead and level up now. We will RP the breakthrough when we get to them.
(Nice!)
Marley pauses to have an evening smoke outside, watching the evening stars for a while, before heading to sleep in the barn.
