Quick question...will there be content sharing? I'll apply with or without, I just like to know my options. :)
No content sharing, sorry. But feel free to use any standard source-books. The only hard rule is: no homebrew. Also, as I think I answered to someone before: while you can propose any character you like, some may not work very well in the setting (e.g. a Tortle/Tabaxi/Harendon/Loxodon might not be well suited to a social-stealth build as they would not be able to blend into crowds in a mostly human-based Barovian village)
No worries. I'll be sticking with the free materials then.
Yeah I get that, lol.
Alrighty, I'll get a character concept worked out ASAP
My experience with dnd: I decent amount, around 4 years give or take. I've been a pretty active member of the pbp community for about half that long.
Have I ever played/finished CoS? Nope, but it's one I've wanted to play for quite a while now.
Character:
Name: Ashtar Conleth
Race: Fire Genasi
Class: Devotion Paladin
Background: Folk Hero
Backstory: A product of humble origins, Ashtar was born to a human woman, and raised in a small rural town several leagues away from the nearest large city. He never knew his father, and his mother never liked to speak on the subject. Genasi were not a commonplace in this region, and for most of his life the older villagefolk weren't sure if his birth was a blessing or a curse, but despite this he was well like with the younger generation. Eventually his town, and many of the surrounding villages fell prey to several raids from bandits and monsters. Ashtar was in his early teens when the first attack hit, but he still did his best to protect his home. Soldiers or adventurers had to come help right? The young genasi soon learned that the larger cities almost never become aware of the plights of the smaller villages, and even when they do, they either don't want to waste resources or it's to late to do anything about it. With this revelation, Ashtar devoted himself to protecting his village. Eventually, with some prompting, the raids died down enough for Ashtar to feel comfortable leaving his home. By this time, he was viewed as a hero in his village and those surrounding it. He promised to return should anything ever threaten them again.
After leaving, he went on to train as a paladin, and later became a wandering adventurer. He will never hesitate to put himself into danger to help someone in need, and he's always looking for an interesting quest.
My experience with D&D: Three years of proper games, and various PbP games on here.
Have I ever played CoS?: Briefly on here. It fizzled out soon enough. I remember nothing from it, honestly. I'll be using the same character I did there, though. I liked her.
Speaking of characters, let's go!
Name: Amelia Velasir
Race: Half-Elf
Class: Soulknife Rogue
Background: Criminal
Backstory:
Born in Elturel to a human woman and her human husband, Amelia, the eldest of four, has always been their least favorite child. She's never resented her human siblings, though, and feels the urge to look out for them. So when their city descended into Avernus, bargaining with a devil for her family's safety was the only choice Amelia could ever have made. Her end of the deal is simple: she uses the psionic powers she was given to kill whomever she's told to. It takes her all over Faerun, and she was on her way to a target when she found herself someplace else.
Ritskis a grizzled former soldier in his late forties, disenchanted with war following yet mother battle to keep some entitled brat in power. He’s seen too many friends gone, and it’s made him jaded. He’d walked away from the fighting, from the healing, the calls for a cleric from the mouths of the dying and the wounded. He turned to drink to wash away the memories in the years since. And he had been drinking the night that he fell asleep in a field and the mists came. Now he’s here, in all his misery, in this miserable town, with this miserable fog, sobering up, trying to understand where he is and how he got there. Experience-level of playing DnD, including play-by-post
Experience-level of playing DnD, including play-by-post
been playing for about 10 years now, with some play by post experience in a couple 9f campaigns that eventually fizzled.
My experience with dnd: Mostly 3.5 when I was younger, but did start original DnD rules (I recently found some old character sheets and had to relearn what THACO was!). About a year in 5e IRL DM and less so on pbp but very active since I discovered it!

Character:
Name: Thulewyn Thunderwood
Race: Hill Dwarf
Class: Hunter Ranger
Background: Sailor
Backstory: Thulewyn worked on sea most of his adult life, mostly on cargo ships, but occasionally he would he hired on for an expedition crew. One of those expedition trips in a remote jungle, led Thulewyn and the others to discover an old tribe. It was there that the villages shaman took an interest in Thulewyn, making comments about the beast within. A great beast attacked the expedition, nearly killing Thulewyn and all the crew, but the tribesmen found them and rescued who they could. When Thulewyn awoke, the shaman had told him he was lucky to be alive, but appears the great beast left its mark on Thulewyn. He could feel a difference within himself too. When the expedition decided to pack up and head home, Thulewyn stayed and worked with this shaman and together they managed to draw out some of the power the beast seemed to infect Thulewyn with, giving him the ability to touch magic that he hadn't known before (Druic warrior fighting style, primary melee attack planned to be Primal Savagery). Since then Thulewyn has tried to to hunt down monsters of the world.
Gregor Loste is a High Elf tasked with border patrol for his people. As a Drake warden ranger with experience dealing with outsiders, he was given a small unit to lead. A few skirmishes with would be bandits and deterring monsters from nesting too close to his people was his daily life. It was fulfilling and the camaraderie between his unit was as if they were a family. That part of his life came to an end when war ravaged the land and his people. The enemy was not some nebulous monster, but other elves. The civil war left Gregor the only survivor of his unit. If it were not for his Drake Charcoal, Gregor would have lost all reason to smile and to think that there will be a better future. Nowadays he patrols alone with just Charcoal at his side. Well that is until a mysterious fog bank enveloped Gregor Loste and now he finds himself in a strange new land.
Experience level playing Dnd including PbP: I have been playing and DMing for the past 3 years and most of it has been here on PbP

Light Cleric seems to be a popular choice. Would you be open to changing the multi-class from 1 level in Light Cleric to maybe something slightly different if we chose another Light Cleric character? Not a big deal, but just thinking that it might reduce variety if multiple characters have 1 or more levels in life cleric

Sure. It's gonna be Cleric level 1 for a while, I chose it mostly for flavor. I can either go straight Monk, pick a different class, or just a different domain. :)
1. Have a mischievous and curious Rogue I can join with. Tyll is a wood elf with a bad past he is trying to forget. He likes maps and somehow gets himself into trouble without trying. I rolled for his stats originally but I can re-roll for standard array. Was thinking of going Thief for Fast Hands, but am happy to take what suits the party best as well.
2. Been playing with him for a little over a year now. New to PbP, but it suits my schedule well.
Name: Xilbella Race: High Elf Class: Rogue/Phantom Background: Acolyte Backstory:
Xilbella was born in the heart of the Elven Court of Evermeet, a sacred and mystical island that served as a sanctuary for the elves. Her parents, Yinlamin Eagershine and Loraphyra Eagershine, were well-respected members of the elven community. Yinlamin was a devoted Priest, revered for his spiritual guidance and connection to the Seldarine, while Loraphyra was a gifted Artisan known for crafting exquisite jewelry infused with the essence of the natural world. Xilbella was the second of five siblings. Her eldest sister, Caicaryn, followed in their father's footsteps and became a Priestess, deeply committed to the worship of Corellon Larethian and the preservation of elven traditions. Tragically, Caicaryn's life was cut short by a mysterious ailment, a loss that left a lasting mark on the Eagershine family. Valcyne, Xilbella's second sister, also embraced the path of the Priesthood and stood as a pillar of support for her parents. The youngest of the siblings, Beigolor, chose the life of a Farmer and Herder, thriving in the fertile lands of Evermeet. Xilbella's early years were steeped in the enchantment of Evermeet, where the natural beauty of the island and the wisdom of her family nurtured her spirit. She demonstrated a profound connection to the spirits of the forest, displaying a unique affinity for the mysteries of the Seldarine. Yet, as Xilbella matured, she felt an insatiable curiosity and a desire to explore the realms beyond Evermeet's protective embrace. The stories of the outside world, told by travelers and merchants visiting the island, ignited a spark within her. Her heart yearned for adventure, for the thrill of the unknown. One fateful evening, during an event in the Elven Court, Xilbella reconnected with an old childhood friend, Orirel Bronzegazer, who had returned to Evermeet as a renowned Female Elf Fighter. Orirel's tales of daring escapades, ancient artifacts, and distant lands resonated with Xilbella's yearning for adventure. Orirel herself had once hailed from Evermeet but had chosen a life of exploration and combat. Inspired by Orirel's courage and drawn to the allure of the outside world, Xilbella made the bold decision to follow her friend's path and become an adventurer. She left behind the serene shores of Evermeet, bidding farewell to her family and the familiar comforts of home. Life among adventurers challenged Xilbella in ways she could never have imagined. She honed her skills as a Rogue and Phantom, mastering the arts of stealth, subterfuge, and precision combat. Xilbella's elven grace and dexterity made her a formidable foe and an invaluable asset to any adventuring party. As she embarked on numerous quests and explored the rich tapestry of the Forgotten Realms, Xilbella encountered both allies and adversaries. Her friendship with Ulaleth Duskspirit, a fellow Female Elf Fighter, blossomed into a steadfast bond, forged in the crucible of adventure. However, her path was not without its share of challenges. Xilbella made a formidable enemy in Yenword, a Male Half-elf Druid with a vengeful streak. A past altercation left Yenword nursing a grudge, and he remained a persistent threat. Additionally, Xilbella found herself inadvertently entangled in a feud with the powerful wizard Torthyra Rapidshadow, a Female Elf who disappeared under mysterious circumstances, leaving behind a trail of enigmatic clues. Amidst her adventures, Xilbella experienced a profound supernatural event, witnessing a minor miracle that deepened her connection to the divine and the arcane forces that shaped the Forgotten Realms. Throughout her journey, Xilbella maintained a strong bond with her family in Evermeet. She exchanged letters and gifts with her parents, Yinlamin and Loraphyra, keeping them apprised of her exploits and adventures. Her family watched with a mixture of pride and concern as their intrepid daughter carved her own path in the world.

Character summary (We start at lvl 1, but please include what direction are you thinking of heading into in terms sub-classes)
Name: Alys Gwinnel
Class: Undead Warlock
Race: Half-Elf (High)
Background: Charlatan
Backstory: Alys grew up in a Baldur's Gate orphanage after her parents met an untimely fate at the hands of brigands when she was very young. Lonely and yet very bright for her age, she spent most of her time reading whatever books she could get her hands on. Simultaneously, she was learning to survive on the streets, learning how to part even the meanest miser from their coin through a combination of manipulation and deception.
Alys always knew she was destined for greater things than the lot of confidence woman and grifter in the Gate. It was not long after she came of age that she had a strange dream, more of a nightmare really, of a powerful being reaching out to her from across a veil of Mists. She would later learn this creature's name was Azalin, and he was powerful lichlord, although he was trapped in a faraway land. Azalin promised her great power and riches beyond her imaginings if she would only accept his deal and promise to free him and defeat his greatest enemy. This was the moment Alys had been waiting for, a chance to escape the drudgery of her life, and so she accepted willingly.

I've been playing in person since 2021 and PBP since not long after that so a fair bit of experience.
Have you played Curse of Strahd before?
I've only gotten through the first part of the Death House before the campaign fizzled out. It's a module I've always wanted to play!
1. Doc has been build by an artificer for a noble elven family. His sole purpose was to protect, heal, help the family elders when they were sick, wounded or if any thiefs/robbers would show up at the house. A couple of weeks a go the elders died and Doc's purpose was gone. The younger once of the family weren't sure what to do with him, and in the end decided to tell him he was free to go were he liked. So Doc left the Elven city to find a new purpose or way of life so to say. That was just a few days a go, so of course when he met some people on the road he was happy to share food with them, even though he doesn't eat himself.
Doc will most likely focus on healing, as that was what he was build for but all his coming new experiences might lead to different ways of evolving.
2. Couple of years playing RL, and 1,5-2 years experience with play by post; both on hear as on rpggeek.com
3. No I never played any part of curse of Sthrad, but would love to play it as I have heard its a very good adventure.
Can I just re-apply?^^

Brother Procopios, variant human Lawful Good Death Cleric. Procopios is a pious Lazarite Christian from Ytarria, the world of GURPS Banestorm. The Lazarites are a heretical sect who believe that animation of the dead in the service of the church is a holy act, and that the sentient undead are deserving of salvation. They hold that the gospels of Lazarus, Martha, and Mary are canon alongside the standard Bible; and that the practice of necromancy can be a road to understanding the promise of eternal life. As a Brother of the order, Procopios was charged to go into the wider world for a period of 3 years, to preach the gospel even and especially to the undead. Of course, not every soul can be saved, and those who renounce the Lord and threaten the innocent should be dealt with appropriately. He has a twin sister, Comnena, who also took holy orders as a nun (Way of the Long Death monk), and he hopes they will be assigned to travel together.

No PbP experience, but I have done standard ttrpgs for over 30 years. I also play a lot of solo D&D.
3. Have you played Curse of Strahd before?
I have run earlier edition versions of the same story (primarily in 2nd edition), and used Ravenloft as my default campaign for many years. I have not run Curse Of Strahd, specifically because I was hoping to play it someday.

If there are too many clerics, you can substitute Sister Comnena from the above story as my application. She would be a variant human monk, Way of the Long Death, but otherwise with the same general backstory & concept.

Experience-level of playing DnD, including play-by-post
I've been playing in person since 2021 and PBP since not long after that so a fair bit of experience.
Have you played Curse of Strahd before?
I've only gotten through the first part of the Death House before the campaign fizzled out. It's a module I've always wanted to play!

Can I just re-apply?^^

1. Character summary (We start at lvl 1, but please include what direction are you thinking of heading into in terms sub-classes)
2. Experience-level of playing DnD, including play-by-post
Are you still looking for players?
Eldra is a Gem dragonborn (aesthetically half-dragonborn/elf), Path of Ancestral Guardian Barbarian. She is part of the Order of the Gauntlet, a faction devoted to routing out evil. She speaks her mind, being overly blunt at times but good hearted.
About 8 years of experience playing dnd, with about a year with pbp formats.
Only the beginning, fell apart due to scheduling.
