With the breeze beginning to toss her fiery red hair, Katerielle out of habit, once again checks her hair tie to make sure her pony tail is secure and her hair will not get in her way. Looking over the scene as Leek crawls about in spider form waking the Owlbear guard dog, she was once again taking her time working out how best she wanted to begin this dig...adventure. The impetuous gnome had already set things in motion once again. Well it was an annoyance but it was what thrilled her to be able to work with some of the younger lived races, they didn't sit around planning and in endless debate of the meaning of minutia. They acted! Very well she would be prepared to back his play.
Katerielle loads her light crossbow while taking a knee on the most secure section of wall she can place herself at. She looks out over the castle with a hint of a little smile in the thrill of the excitement.
Perception: 22
Katerielle sees the floor/roof of the castle covering most of the rooms below. Nearby is an old closed chest. In some places the walls are crumbling, exposing the interior. (See Roll20). Listening and looking at the surrounding woods, she is not aware of any other dangers or details of note.
Leek drops a strand of webbing to the floor of the tower and then reverts to his gnomish form. He spends the next 30 minutes or so carefully tossing food down to the Owlbear a little bit at a time, while descending the web strand (with difficulty) to get closer after each food toss. Eventually Leek is feeding the Owlbear out of his hand as it hungrily waits for more.
(Remove 5 rations from your stock. 1 was given to you by Elila.)
Kitryn looks around ((Im trying to read the last couple pages to catch up so if i get something wrong i apologize)).. "Why dont we try to open the door to let the beast out.. I am sure it does not want to be locked in here.. and if it takes a few goblins out on the way then fine. I can magic hand the door. My tribe has encountered them before and they can be pretty viscious"
(Note, the interior of the door is currently covered with a blob Giant Spider Web that will need to be removed somehow to accomplish the above. Also, the door may be locked?)
(Given Leek made such a high Animal Handling check, I'll rule he can control the Owlbear as Elila moves around nearby)
Elila climbs down to the main floor, lights a torch and burns the web off of the door while Leek keeps himself between the owlbear and Elila to reassure the creature. This close to the door, it is evident that it doesn't have a lock. Seeing as the owlbear is being imprisoned here, the door must be barred from the other side somehow.

Katerielle stays up on the tower watching and listening moving carefully along the top of the wall from S19 to Q18. She will also check to se if there are any small openings in the roofing that she might spy into the section to the left of the tower, through. Keeping her crossbow ready and staying low. The smile of delight still lingers as the air tugs at her hair and the thrill of heights adds to the adrenaline.
GM, I"m trying to understand the map. The rubble that is at the north-west corner of the room, is that passable or not? Do we have to go through the door? I assumed the rubble was open terrain we could climb up.

All of the exposed (non black) areas in the castle are collapsed ceilings and walls where you can look down or enter the castle from above.

The module says the owlbear is trapped in the tower, so the rubble in the north-west part of the tower has to be sheer enough to be impossible for a 'bear' to climb from the inside. The only way out of this tower is UP or through the door. (Unless you smash through the rubble....)

Katerielle looks at the remaining roof that is in her way. What material is it made of? is it shingled or plated maybe even tiled? She is trying to figure out how hard it would be to open a section of roof ( black area ) to look in using her knowledge of Archaeology and History to this type of castle design.
The castle was built with stone and timber. The 'roof' you now stand on was once the second floor of the structure. It is stone, solid but not in the best condition.
You choose a portion of dirt or stone that you can see within range and that fits within a 5-foot cube. You manipulate it in one of the following ways:
If you target an area of loose earth, you can instantaneously excavate it, move it along the ground, and deposit it up to 5 feet away. This movement doesn’t have enough force to cause damage.
You cause shapes, colors, or both to appear on the dirt or stone, spelling out words, creating images, or shaping patterns. The changes last for 1 hour.
If the dirt or stone you target is on the ground, you cause it to become difficult terrain. Alternatively, you can cause the ground to become normal terrain if it is already difficult terrain. This change lasts for 1 hour.

What are the rest of you doing?

(yeah i missed that part, mage hand would be able to pick the lock if it were just locked) Kitryn looks at the web covered door.. "Oh, nevermind"
Elila makes her way down to the ground floor using the web strand to help climb down. (Athletics roll if needed 20 )
She clears the area immediately around the door of flammable trash and burns the webs away with a torch.

Roll a stealth to get to the chest. Roll an investigation to inspect the chest.

Would my Mold Earth cantrip work on the rubble?

If you are willing to spend the time, your Mold Earth Cantrip would eventually 'dig' through the rubble.

Elila gives the door a gentle push to see if it is actually locked/blocked trying not to make too much noise.
