Arvick listens to each introduction that has been said, before taking a few more deep breaths and responding to Olivier's questions. "A few families tried to take the reigns on this issue, but it was not successful. It has now fallen into my hands." He looks around the table once more, and it seems that he is trying to look deeper into you all, figuring out who he can trust. "We need you all to be discreet. No need to have townspeople worried over nothing, right?" Arvick's smile returns yet again, though it seems harder for him to maintain this time. "Asanoria is in two days' time. A very important time for us, I'm sure most of you know." Arvick takes another sip from his cup, which is almost empty now. His breathing finally seems to have slowed and the sweat on his face is far less noticeable. "Someone, or something, has been burning entire crop fields. Some farmers have even said they've seen dark figures in the flames." Arvick's eyes seem to cloud over for a moment as he plunges deeper into thought. "There are a lot of people upset about this, upset with me. I've been trying to keep them satisfied, but this is their livelihood. This...needs to be stopped." He looks around the table. "And I'm hoping you'll be the right group to stop it for good."
Arvick shifts uncomfortably upon Araleth's mention of death. "We are a peaceful people. Always have been." Arvick lifts the cup to his mouth a final time, disappointed by the lack of ale within. "And despite their actions against us, I would wish no unneeded harm to them still. However, I know my wishes are not echoed by the affected farmers. But I don't want their blood on my hands, and I wouldn't wish them upon yours either." After thinking for a moment, he says, "If they can be reasoned with, bring them to me. And if there seems no other option, resort to ending them." A momentary silence hangs in the air, and Arvick is able to muster another grin to his face. "There's a tower on the hill near the entrance to town. It has a view of most of the nearby farms. That may be a good place to start."
Leander nods towards Araleth when she asks about bringing in the culprits alive or dead, "Good question."
He then turns towards Arvick, "That does sound serious, especially if it's threatening to ruin peoples lives. I do have a few questions if you'd be willing to answer them. Is it affecting any particular families or areas specifically or does it seem pretty widespread? And about how often is it happening? Is this a daily or weekly occurrence?"
(If possible, I'd also like to make an insight check on him. He seems very nervous and stressed out and while it would make sense that it's just because of how serious this is, Leander would like to try and see if he knows more than he is letting on Insight = 24)

Quay listens with interest to what Avrick says. Letting Leander ask his questions, Quay then adds, “How long has this been going on? Have there been any new arrivals to twin that might be causing this?”
Arvick nods at Leander's questions. "It has mostly been in the farms nearest to the Garden Overkeep's house, which is right near that tower I mentioned before. I don't understand why that would be, as those are the plots of land under the most supervision but..." Arvick looks down uncomfortably for a moment. "Some of the families there have lost more than one field at this point. As for the frequency of these events..." Arvick thinks to himself for a moment. "This all started a bit more than a week ago, and there's rarely been a night where it hasn't happened."
Leander, this is one of the few times on your travels where you get the sense you may actually be talking to an honest and genuine person. He seems legitimately worried for the people of this town, and it seems to be personally weighing on him a great deal. From what you can tell, it does not seem that he is intentionally keeping much from you.
(And I'm fine with the way you rolled, I think it makes the most sense anyway now that I see it. Probably no need to put it in spoilers either, for now)
Arvick shifts his attention to Quay. "I wish I had a better sense of who comes in and out of this town, but I simply have so much to do. Asanoria always brings a crowd of shadier people here, but we've never had anything like this." Arvick looks around the tavern. "I would ask someone else, someone more observant, if they've noticed anyone new in town who is suspicious. I'm sure Olivier could find some locals to ask."
Olivier feels bad for Arvick. For someone who does so much for this town to be caught in such a bad position was really unfair. And with Asanoria just around the corner, the urgency of the situation felt all the more real to him. If the farming families didn’t have anything to sell during the festival, it could really hurt Goris.
"That all sounds terrible. I can’t speak for everyone here, but I’m ready and willing to help out.", he says as he pats the halfling on the shoulder reassuringly. "We could go ask Stiros at his inn. If there’s newcomers in town, they might have come through his establishment. And maybe some folks at near Garden Overkeep’s can give us some insight."
Quay nods to Arvick. “I’ll help out too. I’d like to find out who is responsible for these fires. We could also start a watch at the tower near the entrance to town tonight, and see if we can spot them.”
Seeing how much Arvick cares about this town and the people in it is enough for Leander. "Well, count me in. I'm certainly interested in inquiring at the Inn if you think they might know something. The stakeout by the watchtower sounds like a good idea too."
(Not really sure what time it is right now, would we have time to do both?)
Arvick nods at Olivier. "Stiros would certainly be a good place to start. Most of the trouble has arisen a few hours after sundown. You may have time to go now, but there is not much time to waste."
(The sun had just about set when you had all entered the tavern)
A smile spreads across Arvick's face for the first time in a few minutes. "Shall you be successful, the Rian-Ton has already agreed to provide you all with some modest sums of gold. We don't have much, but we can give what we have. Beyond that, he has agreed to cover all tabs here or at the Steaming Gourd for the remainder of your time in Goris. It's very generous of him."
Quay starts to get out of the booth. “Well, if we don’t have much time we should probably get moving. I guess we can probably get to this Stiros and talk to him before heading out to the watch tower,” he says.
Olivier stands up in turn. "I’ll go with you. Stiros is a friend of mine. I’ll show you the way." He then looks expectantly at the rest of the adventurers.
Arvick nods. "Well, in that case, I'd better be off." He takes the stack of papers from off the table and takes one last look. "I wish you all luck. Meet me in front of the town hall an hour after sunrise tomorrow to let me know what you've found. Olivier can take you there, I'm sure." He takes a look at the moonlight peeking through the tavern door. "Late again," he says to himself as he takes one final deep breath before running out of the tavern, tossing a few coins to the dwarf on his way out.
"Hope you don't mind my company, I'm hoping to get some coin while I figure my shite out." Agatha grins. She holds her hand out to each and every other adventurer willing to shake her hand. "Agatha Ashley, professional enforcer at your service. If you have weak, stringy arms, I'll be the one you might want to hide behind. Asides from this guy!" Agatha affectionately nods at Quay. "He's got that look of a proper hero! Honestly, it'll be fun to rub elbows with you, sir."

Quay bashfully ducks his head. “I’m not really much of an adventurer,” he says to Agatha. Quay gulps, and after a pause he continues, “I…I don’t really have much to do. I, um, I don’t really have a choice. I don’t really have that many skills other than killing monsters.”
Leander chimes in after hearing Araleth's response to Agatha, "Oh, well, that would be me then. Mr. weak stringy arms right here, and I sincerely appreciate the offer to have someone else act as a bit of the shield who won't crumple from a few blows," and he gives Agatha genuine smile. "In return, I'll do my best to make sure that everybody stays happy and healthy. Except you have people trying to kill us. I'll do my best to make sure that they stay injured and miserable."
He then turns to Olivier, "Well, my good man, since you know the town well, please lead on. I'd love to talk to Strios before going to deal with whatever weights is all in that field. Also, any idea who your friend Arvick is waiting for? Is that something we should ask him about?"
[Similar to LaRue i'm posting on mobile and while I can get it to Bold I can't change the color of the fight. So we'll just have to roll with it.]
As the newly-formed group begins to move out, Olivier starts leading them towards the Gran Gorisian Inn, Stiros’ establishment. They looked like good enough people. Maybe a little rowdier than he was used to in some cases.
At Leander’s question, the young man begins to think. ‘’I’m not quite sure. Could be any number of people. As Rian-Gatra, Arvick is always working on something or meeting people. I’m sure he’d tell us if we asked him nicely.’’
‘’I’m not quite sure. Could be any number of people. As Rian-Gatra, Arvick is always working on something or meeting people. I’m sure he’d tell us if we asked him nicely.’’
So what exactly is a Rian-Gatra? Sound something like a mayor, is that just what it's called here?
(Not sure if this was directed to Olivier as a question, but I just figured I'd answer it really quickly here for anyone else who was wondering)
You all would have a general knowledge that a Rian-Gatra is an assistant to a leader of a town, who is referred to as a Rian-Ton. This system is very prevalent in the country of Beloras, which Goris is located within.

"I'm not hiding behind anyone," Araleth says with a smile that doesn't look kind. "You'll find I'm quite good at going unseen without anyone's help."
