“Terror by night! The village of Orlane Is dying. Once a small and thriving community. Orlane has become a maze of locked doors and frightened faces. Strangers are shunned, trade has withered. Rumors flourish, growing wilder with each retelling. Terrified peasants flee their homes, abandoning their farms with no expla- nation. Others simply disappear...
No one seems to know the cause of the decay —why are there no clues? Who skulks through the twisted shadows of the night? Who or what Is behind the doom that has overtaken the village? It will take a brave and skillful band of adventurers to solve the dark riddle of Orlane!”
Recruiting for an old school Greyhawk adventure ‘Against the Cult of the Reptile God’, set north of the Kingdom of Keoland before the Greyhawk Wars, CY 568. I’m going for a darker, sword and sorcery, low magic tone but still ran in DnD 5e. There will be some race restrictions:
Note that there may be some class restrictions on Demi-Human and Humanoid classes. For example you’d need to give a good reason for the existence of a Dwarf Wizard or a Bugbear Paladin.
Additionally, if playing a Humanoid race, you should expect people to be distrustful and downright hostile toward you.
Detailed here are some of the factions in this part of Greyhawk so you can further tie your character to the setting:
Citadel of Eight: Famous adventuring party now against political domination. All high level but have agents and servants everywhere.
Knights of the Watch: Sworn to defend the Flanaess from Ket and the Baklunish threat.
Church of St. Cuthbert: Cuthbertines travel the rural parts of the Flanaess bringing righteousness to the evils of the land.
The Old Faith: Under the Archdruid. This organisation of naturalists protect the beauty of nature against the rise of those that would destroy it.
Mouqollad Consortium: United merchant clans of the Baklunish nations making economical headways into the Flanaess.
You can use the standard array for character creation, or roll in here if you feel like it.
Hi! This looks fun, I’m thinking of playing a Kobold rogue/ranger, possibly with some ties to the citadel of Eight, maybe as one of their agents? I’ll post the character sheet when I’m done.
This seems very interesting. How often do you plan to post / expect players to post? What level are the characters starting and how long do you expect the campaign to run?
Sorry, but I’m trying to make the character sheet on a website besides dnd beyond (I don’t have a digital copy of Volo’s) and it’s being really difficult, so I probably won’t join unless someone has content sharing and Kobolds.
I’ll be posting multiple times a day and I’d expect players to post around once a day. This adventure will likely take a few months. If players want to continue on with another one I’ll likely be interested in another adventure arm round the same length.
Hello! I've never played a game set in Greyhawk, but it sounds like a lot of fun. By the way, could you provide information about our starting level and equipment?
This adventure starts at 1st level. Equipment is per the 5e rules, either the standard equipment for your class or take the gold prices and buy your own equipment.
Question, do you have content sharing (and also Kobolds?) If not then I’ll need to find another way to make a character sheet, or I’ll just have to make a character and pretend it’s a Kobold and use all of the kobolds racial abilities.
Let's see what the lords of the dice have to say. I'll be submitting a Gnome alchemist.
Ability scores: 121113151514
Brix Philbin
Gnome alchemist
Lawful Neutral
Guild artisan
Backstory: Brix grew up in a pretty typical idyllic style. Rolling hills scattered with small farms surrounded the small to medium sized town innwhich he was raised. The son of a brewer father and apothecary mother, they taught him how to extract the natural compounds needed to create the various elixirs and tonics plied in their individual trades. At a young age he was awarded first place in a brewing competition held by his father's guild. His frothy concoction earned him acceptance to his fathers guild and distinguished him as the youngest member ever admitted. As time went on Brix advanced from simply helping around the shop to traveling with the shipments of the families signature spirit. Philbin Firewater was a clear liquor prized for its smooth flavor and warming properties. It was especially popular in the colder regions.
Brix finds himself in Orlane trying to establish a new distribution point. He will help with anything that may insure securing this contract.
Sorry i don't have a way of allowing you to play a Kobold. Probably best to run a character sheet in dndbeyond that i can actually check. You could always roll a different character with a race you do have access to in dndbeyond
Also, i didn't know this rerolling 1's thing was so common. I've always played with just 4d6 drop the lowest so for consistency's sake lets stick with that
