Fjörn- Approaches the guards with the swagger of a young noble herald.
”It is the wish of my master to pass into the city unannounced, as such our very small retinue and rather dashed arrival. I of course am known to you? (Entertainer) I will be performing on several stages while here. This is merely a token for your assistance. He hands each guard a pouch (10gp). You’re welcome to attend my performances and I’ll buy your food and drink.” A sweet offer with a sweet persuasion roll. What do they say?
Teresa keeps her mouth shut and lowers her gaze. She knows all too well that she's not good at deception. There have been only a handful of times when she had to lie, and Teresa failed miserably each time.
With a sweaty hand, the girl cleric clutches her holy symbol. While she may not have a silver tongue, she can provide magical support to their bard.
Cyrano notes Teresa's anxiety. Standing up next to her on the drivers bench he puts a gentle hand on her arm, arches his brow and gives her his signature smirk. Then he yells over towards Fjörn, "Come on fellas! We're trying to keep this quiet to keep the groupies away. Can't have them following us to (insert local inn using supply chain Background). We need time to set up!
Vadania winces when a particularly odd note flies from Fjörn's lute. "Poor fellow is feeling the heat and I don't blame him," he thought as Fjörn valiantly tried to power his way through the tune.
Vadania hoped these guards were going to relent and let the group and carriage through, but he knew things could escalate rapidly if they decided to inspect everyone closely... or discovered the two tied up in the back.
The wood elf slowly slide his bow closer to hand on the roof of the carriage - just in case.
The guards look at your group with a bit of suspicion, after all it was quite a group, an elf sitting on the roof of the carriage, a gnome in the drivers bench with a human nearly triple his size, and right in front of them a human trying to convince them not to check inside the carriage but as he spoke their wariness reduced, “All right young man but I would like to just peak inside your carriage to make sure there’s nothing illegal or any accidental pests, after all don’t want an outbreak happening.”, one of the guards spoke with a gravelly voice and chuckled at the end.
Nilavor heard this from inside the carriage and looked to Heidi (I assume you are inside the carriage), “Untie the Assassins and remove your cloak. You look presentable enough to be the master.”, he quickly said before turning himself invisible.
Heidi eyes the rather elaborate and extensive ropework, that comprises the assassins’ bindings, then looks back to Nilavor- just as he suddenly disappears! A flicker of a wry smile threatens one corner of her mouth. “I do not believe we have time, for all that,” the paladin says quietly, thinking that the sentries will not wish to wait, for her to unravel all the careful hitches of her shibari. Indeed, she leaves them bound and gagged, as all good assassins should be.
Thrusting open the carriage door, Heidi addresses the two guards in a commanding manner: “What is the meaning of this delay? Do you know who I am?! I am Whiplass, Paladin of Loviatar. And you most certainly know my Whipmistress Suzildara, at the temple- I know for a fact, your Captain does. You would do well not to invoke the displeasure, of the Maiden of Pain.”
She gestures inside the carriage, at the two trussed up assassins. “You see here, I have only these two novices, groveling maggots who would be Kneeling Ones. They have submitted themselves, for consideration, to the Willing Whip. The Whipmistress is most anxious, for the timely delivery of her newest acolytes.”
Heidi produces a hundred gold coins, which she hands to the guards. “Of course, the temple pays for such expedited service. Now, have an excruciating day. We must be going- the temple awaits! Driver, onward!”
Intimidation 15
edit to add: Deception 10 (Heidi just made up that bit about their captain, of course, though who knows- it might be true..?)
“Killing me softly with her song, killing me softly…” Fjörn slowly allows his song to end.
Hard to believe it’s been 5 days since Heidi’s last post… I was looking forward to just adventuring around in the City of Swords. Not to mention finding out if Nilavor was a villain or an ally.
Heidi: “I apologise Lady Hill, I was unaware of you trip to our great city.”, both the gaurds stand tall and give a salute, a sliver of fear present in their eyes. One of them bows slightly towards you and says in a whisper, “I sincerely hope you won’t inform the captain about this, Lady Hill.”
The guards step aside and let you go, on passing through the gates you see a market bustling with people, blacksmiths selling their wares, food stalls which add an aroma of spices and flavour to the air. You could people hollering out their goods, then in the vibrant sea of colors you someone approaching your group. A short, lanky man stands in front of you bending trying to catch his breadth. You could see worry in his wood brown eyes as they pass over your group as if he was checking for something.
“Are you the group that is travelling with the Bard Fjörn Bhrünt?”, he asks hoping for a positive response.
Fjörn: “Lord Abt has heard of your arrival and has sent me to inquire you if you free to play for his son’s wedding.”, the young man responded bowing but not without trying to see if there’s anyone else in the carriage.
You do not know this man you recognise the name Abt, the lord chancellor of Melvaunt.
Heidi observes the short, lanky man with a weary wariness, but musters a smile as he glimpses her inside the carriage, and their eyes meet. Is this not just another would-be assassin, destined to be tied, beneath my heels? She appraises the man, and watches his exchange with Fjörn carefully. (Insight 17)
Assuming everyone is agreeable we head to the Breakwater for rooms and to meet and discuss details regarding this proposed wedding event. Maybe stable the horse(s) and carriage. Does Nilavor have an agenda now that we have arrived? How much for a private room smorgasbord of food and drinks, hot bath, and a city guide? (Inquiring at the inn assuming we get there)
OOC each PC I’m guessing has places people and/or things they are interested in doing do we stick together? Fjörn offers everyone an equal share of the performance pay for any help.
Heidi and Cyrano: He is telling a half truth… he is here for someone else not actually Fjörn. But it is true that the lord Chancellor is the one who is calling you guys but not for a marriage.
Your group journeys through the market catching the attention of sellers, who are able to tell you are not from here with their experienced eyes, they try to stop you to buy their wares, mostly food. As you reach the entrance of the Breakwater tavern you hear chatter and murmurs as business started to pickup in the afternoon. When you enter you are greeted with a large area with tables and an upper level where the rooms are located. There were quite a few patrons there already. There at the bar was the receptionist, an earth genasi, make a drink while chatting to a customer. Her silver strands of hair flowed down to her back, clinking as she nodded her head along to the conversation, the light made her stone grey skin glow slightly blue.
Make a stealth check to see if your group goes unnoticed. What will you be doing now?

Fjörn walks in feeling incredibly happy to be here this city this inn has been a goal for Fjörn. He walks over to the bar and asks the bar tender, “Do you have any entertainers in the house tonight? Perhaps I could play for drinks? My friends and I are thirsty.”
Heidi stands by, prepared for more aggressive negotiations, should Fjörn’s diplomacy fail.
