Eckerman Mill is a dilapidated windmill that rests atop a lonely hill northwest of Drakkenheim. Its stone base is covered in moss and ivy, and the rotting wooden walls are riddled with holes. The entire structure creaks in the wind. The windmill blades still spin softly in the breeze, but the machinery within is damaged beyond repair and the millstone no longer turns. Scattered about the mill are the leftovers from countless expeditions. A well-used bonfire pit surrounded by a few well-worn logs for seating and several tattered tents are set up beside the mill. Abandoned here are a few bedrolls, battered cookware, a rusty chopping axe, and a waterlogged stack of wood
Here were five men awaiting a contact, all contacted for certain skills and reasons a letter that states.. Discretion was advised. On the letter was signed "River." "Doc" here already knows River and the two have talked a few times on matters of the arcane.
OOC Feel free to describe you're characters as you introduce yourself! I left Bearded Engineer out for now as he may be late.
Also for Avery's player gotta PM one thing really important to you as a question,
You can all know each other or be separate hunters/adventurers in Drakkenheim up to you if you guys wanted to have an existing relationship or not. If you have one just let me know the nature of it after you're post!
"Doctor Horatio Henry James, but you can call me Doc"
Doc is a heavy-set humanoid, bald, with gray skin and a hippo-like head. He has broad shoulders and is wearing a tweed hat and spectacles. His shirt is somewhat rumpled from travel but was once pressed and his heavy oilcloth long coat does little to conceal the tweed jacket with leather elbow patches underneath. A sturdy pistol belt holds a small book-box on one hip and an oversized revolver on the other. A battered leather doctor’s bag is secured to his shoulder with a bandolier that once held massive revolver shells but now contains a mix of shells and metal potion vials labeled with arcane runes- some glow slightly. A scruffy owl sits on his shoulder.
"I am an Arcane Natural Philosopher - one who studies the intersection of medicine, arcana, herblore, and alchemy(with a little eldritch tinkering to enable my work.) I am very pleased to see you all! Good fortune to us!"
"please excuse my odd appearance- I caught a touch of Delerium poisoning in the Fall."
OOC All right if everyone is okay with that. I will assume they have started working together recently. ^^ You can add to you're starter post if this is the first time meeting everyone but I think recently formed a party sounds like a great idea too
Avery is a young Cat person who found a shinny ring one day and was gifted a (Warlock) Patron. He is very open person. He loves books and things. He is very curious (cat!). He is often oblivious to dangers.
Baldri steps forward and greets Doc: "I am called Baldri, and I am pleased to meet you. " Baldri is a youngish dwarf, dark haired, and powerful in the shoulders. He wears scale mail armor, and carries a large shield. You would notice the pendant that he wears, a sunburst design made of forged iron. He carries a well crafted Warhammer, slung over his back. His demeanor is open and curious. "I am an acolyte of the Lightbringer. Though it is well known that we haven't heard much from the Lightbringer since the Cataclysm. I do like the candles."
Ayste is a Decently aged rabbit person who has a knack for stealing and a love for gambling. He is a man who tends to keep to himself but to open when on the tables. Often to open
OOC So is Baldri opting for the meeting them as strangers instead of knowing them as a party than? That works just making sure to note that so we don't get confused ^^
As the group meets up again for another job though this ones seems.. More serious than usual. So far they have managed to hunt stray monsters and the like rather well. Coming to the mill is a woman with a large construct at her side.
A tome to her side, a graceful but purposeful walk. A blue tail flickering and row boat horns as well as blue hair to match. She offers a closed mouth smile before assuming a rather serious expression. Her construct appears to have a flaming blade and a shield on it's side. She takes a few steps looking around the five men.
"Avery.. Doc it's good to see you both again. You seem to have.. made new friends outside of the Academy."
She looks to Axel,Ayst,Baldiri for a moment almost as if she was accessing them.
OOC Ahh it seems many are doing the party approach. I might recommend Baltri into that as well just so he isn't left out but up to you!
River looks to Doc for a moment than back to Avery after she is done accessing their new comrades.
"Now to the crux of the matter, I'm afraid I haven't called for a social gathering. I believe there is a piece of Delirium, a breakaway from the original meteor itself. At old Rat's nest Tavern. A crystal that size can normally go for 1000 gold.. but we need it. If you can all retrieve said Delirium for me the academy would be willing to pay 1250 gold instead."
It had seemed Docs words were right on the money it was in fact a hunt for Delrium.
"Well Met, Mage River! Yes indeed- hearty and hale adventurers all. and I see you are acting ion an official capacity." Doc nods to the construct and River's robes of office. " by the way I thought your paper on the alchemical properties of golden delirium was groundbreaking. Bravo!"

"Delerium, or one of the nasties guarding a horde of it if River is the one who contacted us, almost assuredly. Good to see you all again!"

Baldri is very confused. He has in fact met Doc before, but he is forgetful.

River looks to Doc for a moment than back to Avery after she is done accessing their new comrades.

“Any dangers we should be aware? I’m going to assume if it was that easy to retrieve you would have done so yourself.” Axel replies.
"Hey there River. Delirium huh? pay sounds good. Should be fun."
