"Very pleased to meet you, Silvana. And Atax," Euphemia calls good-naturedly, still hanging just a little precariously from her perch on the cliff. She eyes the enormous lizard man as if wondering if he'd like to make a snack of her, but comes to no solid conclusion on the matter. Cats are fiercer predators anyway, aren't they?"I, ah, don't exactly need help at this moment. I'm thinking about climbing down, but, you understand, me nerves are a bit--" She stops speaking abruptly as the huff and puff of a familiar song is gasped out from the undergrowth of the jungle, quickly followed by the apperance of a winded halfling.
"Well met, lad!" she shouts, "That was me! And you, too, if you'd fancy to work on your wind a bit. Aren't you a sight for sore eyes! Regret I hit my head and can't remember much, maybe you can fill me in, eh? My name's Euphemia Leagallow." Thoroughly excited by the appearance of a fellow halfling who knows the same song she does, Euphemia starts again her scramble down the cliff, towards the three on the ground. Enthusiastically this time, without worry to hide from the departed flock of birds, she leaps from vine to crevice to rocky handhold, a broad smile on her tiny face.
The man unloads his arrow, placing it back in the quiver. Ignoring the other's hand, he pulls himself from the water. He secures his bow back over his shoulder and approaches the floating box.
(Passive Investigation) "Your mistake was in assuming the creature was aquatic in nature. It was not. Notice the lack of viscera or drag marks near the water's surface. There are trace amounts of blood, but far from enough to suggest the individual was killed or dragged here."
(Survival roll: 17) "Instead..." He scans the clearing, walking past the goblin, moving towards a patch of reeds by a large mangrove. Hm... broken? He presses further in, moving past torn foliage and obvious signs of a fight. Insects buzz furiously all around, feasting on spattered flesh and congealed blood. He focuses on where they're the loudest... Ah.
Returning to the clearing, he presents Shin with a very gnarled branch. He tosses it at his feet. "Your killer is land-based. The "branch" lands with a wet *slap,* at the goblin's feet. As the sun catches it, Shin immediately realizes it to be a severed arm, chewed down to the bone and gristle.
Upon being asked his name, the halfling drops down to a seated position on a large stone and squints up at the sky, struggling to remember... His mouth tries a out few phonetical combinations until he stumbles on... "Don... Donnyl?"He says, looking around at the others, as if for confirmation. "Does that sound right?"
He shakes his head in frustration. "Hells blazes, what's happened to my mind? It's an empty cupboard... Only crumbs..." Searching the faces of the others, he continues. "What is this place?" He asks. "And... do you have any notion of how I got here?"

Silvana looks at Atax a bit, trying to size up the creature, "Have you been here long?"
But as Donnyl sits down and starts asking them questions about him, she can't help but smile. "Sure, sounds right to me. As for this place, I have no idea how I got here either and it sure is strange."
As rocks and pebbles start cascading down the cliff from Euphemia's decent, Silvana takes a couple steps back and awaits her decent. She turns to look behind her as well, the sound that make her leap into the river still echoing in her mind.

Shin grins ruefully. "Well it certainly appears that I was completely wrong and you were completely right. Nicely done."
Pinky-toe turns to the goblin, the owl's round-eyed gaze almost mirthful. I had forgotten how I enjoy when your logic blows up in your face!
Shin grimaces briefly, then asks: "So, in your estimation, is the river safe to cross? I would like to see if we can meet up with the small humanoid descending the cliff I spied on the other side. Safety in numbers seeming wise to me. And I still do not know you name. Perhaps it does not matter."
"At this point, it really doesn't," he replies. "But to hells with it. Something ate this poor sod; water or sand, blood still runs."
He pauses for a moment. "...Tell ya what. You want to cross, I want to see what was strangling that beastie earlier. I have an idea, but I'll need some help."
"From them big words, you've got quite the head on your shoulders, too. What say we play on a little mutual cooperation and see where it takes us."
Silvana looks at Atax a bit, trying to size up the creature, "Have you been here long?"
Atax answers her by saying, “This I the first time I have seen any of these surroundings, I’m assuming it’s the same for you?” He pauses for a second, “considering how you look like you don’t belong in a jungle.”
After he answers Silvana he turns his gaze to watch Euphemia. Atax tracks the hafling’s descent down the cliff side with an orange slit eyed unblinking gaze. He slowly unfolds his arms and is reminded of the metal diamond embedded in his flesh. Even though he isn’t as intimidating with his arms folded a 8 foot tall Demi-human is almost always intimidating by itself.
Shin has a bit of a hard time believing that the (at least partially) aquatic humanoid who will not shake hands or provide his name needs help with anything. I wonder if he knew the arm was there because he is the one that caused it to be there. The goblin gazes up at the genasi for a long moment, balancing on the balls of his feet, still ready to dodge or dash away at the slightest hint of threat.
Charming fellow. At least he is no longer brandishing his bow and arrow. I wonder if he is a native of this land? Seems unlikely given our shared language. Perhaps he too has lost much of his memory? Also unlikely. If only I still had my shortsword...
"Pinky-toe and I are listening. In truth, cooperation is what I had hoped for from the start, given the self-evident peril. And my apparent loss of memory."
Shin attempts to glance for any evidence of the green implant in the other humanoid's arm, but finds himself unwilling to shift his gaze to do so.
"First, we'll need a vine, long enough to stretch across the river and tie at both ends. You seem the type to understand this sort of thing, so I'll leave the measurement to you." He points to the far shore. "While you tie your end to a tree on your side, I tie mine to a trunk on the other."
He continues, a haughty grin on his smug face: "Then I use this neat little water trick of mine to freeze you a platform and you can pull yourself across."
Silvana sizes the lizard man up a bit and then gives him a wan smile, "Yeah, the jungle is doing wonders for my fur. I'd be happy if I never have to swim again, that's for sure." She lifts up her forearm to show Atax the green implant, "Do you happen to have one of these? I don't think I had it before waking up in this place."
Looking carefully without actually looking, you don’t notice any implant on the man in the river. You’re a bit too far away, and all the beads of water upon him glistening in the morning sun were a bit distracting. You’re sure you’d be able to spot an implant if you were just a bit closer.
As for vines, there are vines aplenty in the jungle around you. If you don’t happen to find one long enough, you’re positive you could simply tie a few together to make a “rope” long enough to span the murky river.
Absently, Shin has his Mage Hand give the medical kit back to him. The spectral hand then begins gathering vines to tie together into a makeshift rope while the goblin himself remains still. His interest seems piqued by the aquatic humanoid's reference to his trick to freeze water.
"Your neat little trick reminds me of the Shape Water cantrip that I seem to remember. Odd since I find myself unable to recall much of where I was and what I knew before I awoke in this strange land. But magic, I do remember. Yet I see no spell book on you. Perhaps you have access to the magic through a more primal source. Either way, I am glad of it as I do not have the cantrip ready myself, but perhaps I should, given this environment."
Shin gestures all around, while Pinky-toe takes wing and flies in low, tight circles, keeping watch for the apparent arm-dismembering predator.

"I myself am amphibious, so you're not wrong to say it comes natural." He dives into the water, floating back to the surface with his arms and legs splayed. "Just let me know when you're ready."
(Mumbling) And who knows? Leave the vine and we could use it later...
Atax turns his left forearm around to see the gleaming device in it and then looks over to see Silvana’s glowing green diamond also embedded into her arm. “I can’t seem to remember anything before this day, but I’m sure I never had this there,” he gestures toward his forearm, “and I can’t seem to tear it out either.”
As Pinky-Toe takes to the air to scout around, she doesn't notice anything immediately dangerous or aggressive, but it is rather hard to see past the dense jungle foliage She sees that you are near the coast, the deep blue ocean stretching out for miles as it twinkles in the morning sun. Far to the east, she sees a smoldering volcano, a small plume of ash and smoke rising from its jagged tip. From Shin's perspective, the volcano is behind several other mountains and large rocks jutting from the earth. She also spots four people standing at the base of a large cliff not too far away.

As you all begin to acquaint yourselves with your fellow survivors and your surroundings, you hear a sudden reptilian screech rip through the normal jungle background noise of birds, insects, and running water. SHIN AND KORINTH
As you busy yourselves to cross the river, you hear the sudden cries of several reptilian beasts deeper in the jungle. In the distance, you hear the sounds of several creatures trampling through the undergrowth, coming in your direction. Between trees and undergrowth, you catch brief glimpses of several creatures converging on your location. You have no idea what they are or what they can do, but you have a sinking feeling that they're not going to be very friendly...
Euphemia, scrambling excitedly as she is, slips and nearly looses her footing, sending a cascade of pebbles and sand clattering down the cliff face. Sucking in her breath with a nervous laugh, she grabs onto her handholds again, steadying herself, and continues her descent more slowly and carefully. Finally, she clears the edge of the cliff, hopping down into the scrub and joining the others. At this moment she notices how very much larger the lizard and the cat are than she is... especially the lizard man. She eyes him just a little nervously, readjusting her black cowl on her head.
And she smiles at Donnyl, with much less excitement than her immediate reaction had contained. "Glad to have it, Donnyl. Hit your head too, eh? Or... I wonder if it's something about this place?" She looks around at their wild surroundings, pondering. I know when they die and go to the Fields... they don't remember much of their mortal life... or, so I've heard. At least they don't think of it. It all seems faded, unreal, misty. But the halfling shakes her head. It wouldn't be like this. This is just like mortal life. There's no fear of death in the Fields, because you're already dead. We're all very much alive... and afraid for our blood to flow. She looks at Atax again, as he and Silvana discuss the implants. Euphemia blinks. She hadn't looked. She pushes up the left sleeve of her thin robe, looking at her own arm, and is shocked to see a similar, diamond-shaped piece of... something, she can't quite tell what it's made of--embedded in her flesh. Her skin crawls with revulsion, squeezing the pit of her stomach. "Eeeuw,"she says, weakly. Taking a deep breath, she pulls her sleeve back down and resumes her usual smile. "Now... I wonder if that has got something to do with our loss of memory. We can't ALL have hit our heads just the same way."
As the loud screech suddenly rips through the jungle, Euphemia freezes. "Oh, Archpaladin, protect us, eh?" she whispers. She notices her hand straying back to rest on the bagpipes strapped over her shoulder. None of that now! If those birds bit you over it... but the strong urge to play them won't be quelled. Oddly, Euphemia starts to hum a tune, perhaps as if trying to distract herself from the sudden mortal danger.
As Pinky-toe telepathically communicates her scouting back to him, Shin quickly kicks a rough divot into the ice block so his small feet can find some purchase, then pulls himself across the wide, muddy flow of the river hand-over-hand as quickly and steadily as he can, while the owl circles overhead.
IF he reaches the far side without incident, he speaks up quickly before setting off towards where the owl had seen the four people of varying stature.
"As charming as the approaching reptiles sound, I'm joining the four who Pinky-toe spied at the base of the cliff nearby. Admittedly, I know not whether they are friend or foe, as you demanded of me, but I'll take my chances with safety in numbers of people against hungry reptiles. Join, if you wish."
As he starts to speak, Shin is unable to stop himself from glancing to see whether the anonymous aquatic humanoid has the same green arm implant that the goblin does. But even before he finishes, he sets off towards the four people by the cliff at a dash, Pinky-toe serving as scout overhead with her 60' movement speed. As he goes, Shin continually uses his bonus action to hide - taking a route more concealed by cover to remain less visible.
"A race, eh?! Sounds good!" His barking laughter echoes as the goblin scrambles into the woods. I like him. With that, Korinth dives under the surface, swimming downstream. Whatever was coming, he'd let it track the goblin's scent across the vines while he masked his own in the water... The little guy would be fine. He couldn't wait to meet him again, see what's changed.
Silvana is a bit amused with the humming halfling, but as the screeches arise from the jungle... enough to make the birds silence themselves, the fur on the back of her neck prickles. Hell, the fur everywhere prickles, "We need to find a place to hide.. now."
She looks around to see if there is anything that can safely hold the four of them, she definitely wants to stick together.
Survival: 24 (subtract 2 if perception makes more sense...)
