OOC: Should we go for deception in any of these encounters, since we're all wearing the red cloaks of the Redbrands? i.e. just walk in like we own the place
Does Daewen hear any other voices or shuffling around as if there is more than just the man talking (i.e. is this person alone, practicing some sort of speech, or is this person actually giving a speech to a room full of Redbrands)?
Hey guys, Due to real life problems (that's why I love D&D. No real world problems) I have to leave the campaign. It was awesome while it lasted, and I'd love to play with y'all again someday, but unfortunately I can't right now. Sorry.
Current Campaign(s): Dungeons, Darkness, Drow, and Demons, an Out of the Abyss Adventure, Dungeon Delvers, a Dungeon of the Mad Mage Adventure, Jungle of Evil, a Tomb of Annihilation Adventure

[OOC: Vex does also speak Goblin if that will help with Droop, also Vex is not wearing a redbrand cloak as it would be way too large for him, he is only 2' tall.]
A Human War Cleric jumps out from the north stairwell to attack the rat.
"No time for introductions. I'm Jyin, Cleric of Torm. I'm an agent of the Order of the Gauntlet and I've been tracking Orcs in this area. I spotted your team entering this hideout and I've been racing to catch up to you. So, if you don't mind a little help, I could really use your intel."
With his final word, he strikes a killing blow to the rat. "By the way, this is no ordinary rodent. It's a familiar. My guess is that there is a spellcaster about."
No one is surprised on both sides, the familiar's telepathic bond means that the Ruffians are readying an ambush, and so are you, so Surprise Round but everyone participates and players go first.
Droop throws the door open and you see four Redbrand Ruffians standing in front of a table. On the table is a map of the Triboar trail, with small wooden carvings, indicating battle plans and troop counts.
Behind the table is a human wearing robes and wielding a staff of glass, radiating magic.
Wilhorn chooses a point 15’ beyond the wizard (doesn’t need to be seen), so that the effects of the spell’s radius extends back to only include the wizard.
Vex moves into the room and them moves into the left most corner and fires at the Redbrnad Drool goes and bites (R4), as Dorah's head snakes out and once more breaths onto the bolt as it launches forward.
Hand-Crossbow: To Hit 24 Piercing Damage: 9 Infused Strike: 6 Lightning Total: 15

Passive perception, you hear a man talking about battle plans as if he's direcring and speach.

Last to know and first to be blamed...
As a free action, can I regret my life choices?

Whispers, “If the leader is in there, there’ll be no deception. Surprise is our biggest ally, if we’re gunna do this.”
Wilhorn girds himself for the coming battle.
“Take the head off the snake, the rest will wither.” In whispered encouragement.

Round 0
Jyin, Wilhorn, Vex, Daewen
R1, R2, R3, R4, Glass Staff
I am assuming we burst in.
Can we please get a layout of the room and where everybody is?
Wilhorn has an idea, but needs a “lay of the land” to execute it.

Wilhorn chooses a point 15’ beyond the wizard (doesn’t need to be seen), so that the effects of the spell’s radius extends back to only include the wizard.
He casts Sleep.
21 hp put to sleep.
Should he fall, Wilhorn will go directly to take the staff, suffering any number of attacks of opportunity to do so.
Should he not fall, he still enters and gets out of the way for others.
Drool runs in and tries to bite the wizard (if he’s standing), one of the tangential ruffians (if he’s asleep).
Attack: 18 + 3 (modifier) Damage: 4 + 1 (modifier) piercing.
DC 11 STR Save or prone.

R1 falls prone, sleeping. No one else seems to be effected by the spell.
Assuming Drool targets the last Ruffian (R4), who is not sleeping,
R4 takes 5 damage and attempts a Strength Save DC 11 vs 4
Vex moves into the room and them moves into the left most corner and fires at the Redbrnad Drool goes and bites (R4), as Dorah's head snakes out and once more breaths onto the bolt as it launches forward.
Hand-Crossbow: To Hit 24 Piercing Damage: 9 Infused Strike: 6 Lightning Total: 15
R4 takes 15 damage. R4 is dead.
R4 (dead)
R1 (uninjured, prone, sleep)
R2 (uninjured)
R3 (uninjured)
Glass Staff (uninjured)
Jyin charges into the room. He casts bless on Daewen, Vex, and Wilhorn.

He ends his turn, base to base with R2 and R3
Daewen's turn.
