Unfortunately, the rats do not even seem to notice the druid's magic. They continue to ferociously attack you and swarm around you, gnawing and scratching all the same.

You do still need to roll a d20 to hit and if there are no modifiers it's straight dice. Though to hit you should always get your proficiency bonus... but Dmg is 1+ your strength modifier. Looking at your sheet I see a +4 to hit and 3 straight damage, which is normal for unarmed STR 15!
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kyros heard Lias' curse, and turned his attention toward the floor in front of him, trying to hone in on the skittering horde in the pitched darkness. He prepared to dodge once again.
Talien winched as the rats' teeth gnawed at his legs, he imbued his staff with Shillelagh stomping and swinging with his quarterstaff in sweeping strikes at the mass of rodents.

As the mass of rats skittered forward, teeth gnashing and claws scraping the floor and whatever else they could find purchase on, Kyros was ready. He deftly sidestepped and hopped over the swarm the moment he felt them brush against his feet in darkness. His new friends seemed to be having some difficulty ahead of him, so he focused on striking what he could. He quickly reversed the grip on his longsword, sweeping blade in front of him, and then he grabbed the hilt in both hands and plunged it into the writhing, chittering swarm around his feet.
After the party slashes its way through the horde of rats, their numbers dwindling quickly once they spread out, the rest scatter and find hiding holes within the walls from which they came. Making your way to the end of the tunnel, through more cobwebs, soaked, muddy floors, and strewn barrels... not to mention the stench, you reach the grate. It is locked from the inside and only has a small view port, through which you can see the smoky night sky. The door is mostly rusted iron and it is raised a little bit from the path you stand on, a step or two up at the end.

Archibald was eager to get out of the tunnel and into the fresh air. The party trudged on for what felt like an eternity in the filth and fetor, but eventually Archibald could just barely make out the smallest glints of light coming through the door at the end of the tunnel. This breathed new life into Archibald as he strode quickly ahead, fumbling with the keys that Escobert had given them. He eagerly slid the key in the lock before hesitating; his new friends weren't too far behind, but there was no way to be sure what would be waiting for them right outside, just out of view of the small window. "Is everyone ready?" he asked, when they had caught up. "Alright, here we go." he turned the key and began to push, hoping desperately that the substantial rust would not somehow keep them trapped inside.

As Archibald creaks open the old gate door, the moonlight begins to flood in, as does the scent of smoke. Though somewhat clouded, the air outside is still much better than the rank tunnel.
Opening slowly, it swings out and you can see the river nearby, covered in its brush and weeds, as well as two Cultists and four Kobolds. They haven't noticed you yet and are headed into town, passing by the front of the gate from right to left. They seem to be focused on a task or their conversation and, for those of you that can understand draconic, you hear:
"She said only put those to the sword that fight us! Otherwise the point is to run them off so we can take the stuff!" - Cultist 1 "Yes, yes," - kobold 1 - "but he said if any of them looks dangerous to rid us of them! She may lead, but he is... scary..." "Why isn't that bloody dragon helping, anyway?" - Cultist 2 "Would you all just shut up?! We have a job to do!" - Cultist 1 "For the Queen!" - rest of group

Kyros cocked his head in the darkness to listen as the marauders voices drifted in on the night breeze. They wandered past up ahead just beyond the reach of his eyes and his sword. He dared not recant what he heard, lest he give them all away, so he waited anxiously and tightened his grip on the longsword, growing ever more impatient that these villains would elude his grasp.
Lias leaned forward and tapped Kyros on the shoulder. When he turned back to look at her She raised an eyebrow and her rapier, silently asking if they should advance.
Lias' nudge and the glint of her rapier in the faint moonlight showed that Kyros wasn't the only one eager to get out of this tunnel and grant these thieves their just rewards. He nodded, and reached around her to prod Talien in the shoulder, hoping he would take the hint to help move things along.
"What are you waiting for me for?" Talien whispered, "You're both bigger and more frightening than Archibald or myself." Talien shrugged, addressing the party in a hushed voice, "Once we take out those Kobolds, we should be able to disable those hooded men. Archibald, do you think you can pick one of the Kobolds off from here with your bow? If you choose one target I'll take the other, perhaps we can thin their numbers before they notice us."
Kyros sighed as a glare crept into his eyes. "I am waiting only for you and Archibald to kindly move out of our way." He hissed quietly, gesturing to Lias, with rapier ready, and the stifling tunnel around them.

Archibald, had been trying to remain very still so as to avoid giving away the group's position. At Kyros' prompting, Archibald realized he had indeed been blocking the way out of the tunnel for the rest of the party. He quickly trotted a few feet to the side, drew his bow, and took aim at a kobold.

The swarm of rats now surged forward, attempting to reach the latter characters, but still were numerous enough to surround all 4 of you!
Talien, unimpressed by your druidic magic, they bite at you for 5 damage!
Kyros, they attempt to nibble at you, but you manage to squirm your feet away with some acrobatic, gladiatorial ballet and stay safe!
