-Character Background and Backstory: Investigator (Crossbow Expert) - Bryn grew up in a Human settlement in the plains, and his childhood was relatively normal. That is until he was eighteen when he lost two years of his life. He awoke outside a settlement at the age of twenty with no memory of the intervening years. The mystery surrounding him became an obsession, and he pursued an explanation for many years, becoming a rather exceptional investigator during that time.

It wasn’t just the missing time he needed answers to either, he was different since his return. He found he could see much better in the dark, and he could track and hunt even though he had not been trained to do so. A year or so later, something even more extraordinary happened. He found he was able to physically change himself into some kind of hybrid creature, part bloodhound and part human. He hid this ability as much as possible, and learned to harness it, finding that it enhanced his skills even more. He became comfortable existing in the shadows and in disguise.

Over time his ability to read people grew stronger and he became adept at infiltrating places he wasn't meant to be. He could identify forgeries at a glance and tell when people were lying. And he learnt to use his knowledge of behaviour to fight when necessary.

All the while he branched out into other mysteries, always looking for answers for the inexplicable, hoping to tie them back to what had happened to him. When the curse hit, he was likely one of the first of the common folk aware of it. Possibly even employed to look into it by some faction or another.

-Magic Items: Glamoured Studded Leather, Starcrossed Hand Crossbow, Boots of False Tracks, Bottle of Boundless Coffee, Masque Charm

Konstatin was a burglar in the hamlet of Markz until the day that he took a contract to raid an art dealers mansion for far more than it was worth. It turns out the art dealer was buying exclusively for Lord Rilsky - the vampire lord of the duchy.
The burglary was a success, but Lord Rilsky tracked him down and as punishment for his transgressions transformed him into a vampire - sort of. Embarassed by his inability to transform him fully Rilsky dominated him and set him the demeaning task of procurring eat-in meals for him. He spent the next 150 years filling Rilsky's pantry with runaways, nobles, serfs and merchants, all to order at Lord Rilsky's whim.
Eventually Lord Rilsky's appetites attracted enough attention that someone decided to end him, and an adventuring party raided the castle to end his reign of terror. But during the battle the party's sorcerer broker his staff of power. Konstatin, being fully dominated at this point, attempted to prevent this from happening and grabbed the staff while it was still in his hands. The sorcerer was transported to another plane for a moment to avoid the worst of the blast, transporting Konstatin with him. However on the return journey Konstatin lost his grip on the staff and was deposited here. Where-ever here is?

Magic Items: Rhythm makers drum (+2), glamoured studded leather, 3 potions of healing

Writing sample: The shrouded figure bent low over Konstatin, "I can offer you your freedom. I will end your servitude to the leech, all I ask in return is your service."

Konstatin crawled further back into the room. "Exchange one servitude for another? A strange sort of freedom you offer. And you know what they say better the demon you know... or fiend, or whatever."

"Perhaps. But would you not prefer to be free of your hungers? I can offer you that. I require service of you and you are of no use to me weakened like this."

"BEGONE!" Konstatin screamed, adding what little remained of his power to the words. The creature screeched and vaulted itself back out of the room. It's clothes fell to the floor behind it revealing the gaunt figure beneath it.

It snarled, baring sharpened teeth, "Very well, keep your servitude. I will find another to achieve my ends, and you, you will find yourself hunted."

And then he vanished.
