Wendell nods, and moves over to the caster. Taking a moment, he conjures a spread cloak next to the fallen adversary.
"Move him onto this. We don't want him getting out the same way his friends did. While you're talking to him, I'd like to get a closer look at these gems."
As Balasar's rage subsides, he takes a few seconds to survey the scene before striding over to the cultist and moving him onto the conjured cloak, taking care not to exacerbate the man's injuries.
You and your companions put up quite the fight. If your leader hadn't abandoned you at such a crucial moment, things might have ended differently. It would be a shame if such an act of cowardice were to go unpunished, wouldn't it?

While Wendell can identify this gem as an arcane focus for magical energies, the precise purpose the gem's focusing serves within the context of ritual is a mystery. The gem likely holds a residual arcane charge which would need to be safely dissipated before anyone attempts to move it.
"Guan Hao," Wendell calls over, "Could you please ask the nice man what they were trying to do here? In the mean time, I'd advise no one touch the gems until we find some way to bleed the energy off."
Guan Hao levels the blade of his glaive, still dripping with the extraplanar ichor of the strange behemoth, in front of the wounded cultist's face.
"Speak swiftly, maggot, and you might yet live. What were you hoping to accomplish here, and where has your master gone?"
Though plainly intending to speak, the gaping hole in the man's throat froths with blood and allows him to make nothing more coherent than a wet gurgling sound.
[OOG: Sorry for the slow/small responses lately, everyone - I just wrapped up my first paper for school and should now have more speed/availability for replies]
Gong will cast his cantrip Spare the Dying to stabilize the dying caster.
"Hm. Best not bloody our hands more than necessary."

Please make an Intimidation (STRENGTH) check.
Investigate and Arcana checks, please.
Do you wish to remove the arrow from his throat first? If so, please make a Medicine check.
Intimidation (STR): 8
Uhhhh...advantage due to circumstances? Guan Hao is currently covered in the blood of the massive hellbeast that just chewed up half his friends.
Skoth will assist Gong with removing the arrow.

Between the two of them, Gong and Skoth successfully remove the arrow without killing the cultist.
