Wex nods along as Leosin talks, confirming the cult and their dastardliness. But when he suggests they go back, his eyebrows go up. "What now? We just barely got away with our lives. Shouldn't you mount some sort of force from here? Get your soldiers together and march on out, Fingers can take you. I'll, uh, watch your walls for you."

"This is what we learned as well. If there is any truth to the rumors of dragon eggs and there is any chance that they will summon Tiamat, then we must end it quickly."
"If they intend to move the camp the eggs (if they exist) will be vulnerable. If they intend to summon a god, they'll need more than gold - we should discover the linchpin and strike there."
Leosin scoffs a bit at your statement Wex and then nods in agreement with you Sevrn. "Yes, exactly good sir! We need to find out more and the perfect place to start is back at that camp!" Turning to you Wex he says, "Every town with somewhat of a force near here, has been raided. No one has any soldiers to amass! No, our best bet is to enter with a small force just like you four already did. I know you don't really want to go back, but we need to know what is in that cave, and ultimately what they will do with it, as well as where that loot will be going. I'll leave tomorrow morning for Elturel and speak with the heads of my order. When you get back, head there and meet back up with me."
Wex shakes his head at Flynn's hope, "Maybe. But that's a bad bet if they aren't gone. Look, I'm not saying it isn't a good thing to do, just that I'm not in the habit of doing good things just because they're good. I know what it takes to mass a fighting force, and what it costs. Four of us are a lot cheaper to send out than a troop of regulars. Maybe some of that... savings, can come our way? Even heroes have to eat. Maybe not Fingers. But big guy probably eats twice his weight! And Elturel is a long way from here..."

Leosin nods in agreement and waves off Nighthill who was about to reply. "That's a fair statement. Of course I'll pay you all for it, I'm asking you to do something that I know first hand is very dangerous. Lets say 150 gold pieces....to each."
Wex pauses... perhaps he wasn't sure that would work, and it would be a way out of his predicament, but now... You can see him working through the sums. Then he nods. "That seems like a fair amount. We'll go back, learn more, see what we can learn about those dragon eggs, and then take whatever we learn to you in Elturel."
"After we rest."

"We'll need provisions to prepare. Getting into the cave won't be easy now that they know they've been infiltrated, so we'll also need a plan... and a way of dealing with dragons if we encounter them. Thoughts?"
Mopham who hasn't said much the last day or so pipes up, a bit delayed at Wex's comment: "I do not eat that much....And we may need some more healing supplies if we're going back into that kicked hornets nest"
Governor Nighthill nods. "We can probably scrounge up some more healing supplies, I know someone around here probably has some spare boots. I can spare some basic equipment as far as swords go, it will be nothing extraordinary, just a plain sword. What kind are you looking for?"
You all spend the day relaxing and getting things/supplies ready for the next leg of your investigation. Nighthill and Escobert return to you all in the afternoon. They have brought a few things for you all. They have some men set the supplies upon the table in the meeting room. They gathered 4 [magicitem[Potion of Healing[/magicitem] . 2 Potions of Greater Healing , There is also a very nice pair of boots and a Longsword, both of which are very nicely crafted. Nighthill smiles at you all and says, "As for dealing with dragons. Hmmm, the only thing we have is spears or bows and arrows." He gives a small shrug.
"Wex, didn't we hear that the camp moving today? If so would they take the eggs or leave them behind under a smaller guard? I'd imagine eggs of any kind are likely too vulnerable to risk transporting en masse. "
"If there are dragon eggs there has to be another way into the cave or a back entrance to the camp to save the eggs in case the camp was attacked. I doubt we'll be able to get back in the way we did, and I'd expect the guards to be on high alert if we try to enter through the front gates again. Nighthill, is there a cartographer in the city or a detailed map of the area we could study?"
Wex nods from where he is trying on his new boots. "The mercenaries were getting ready to move out, this areas was tapped, was the thought. I'd heard rumors of eggs, but never saw one. As for a way out... I've not heard of one, but kobolds are diggers, so it is possible they could have made one. They'd need it to be cart-sized though, so my guess is they'd use the front entrance. They have an army, after all. What have they to fear?"
He stamps about in his new boots, taking a little jog around the room. "I like your caution, Fingers. I think we should sneak back the way we came out, and get the lay of what is going on before we decide on our next move."
