"I will seek Darathara out and see if she can help. Hopefully she will see that the removal of the artifact will protect her village from further harm. The fire giants will return."
Devin leaves the inn and heads for the keep to speak with Darathara.
Devin finds Darathara, Gweldyn and Urgala standing in the field looking at the artifice. Gweldyn is wandering tapping and the pulls out a measuring tap before commenting “whatever this was part of it was big as this looks like it was some sort of strapping that would have gone around a bit of the body!”

"We need to dig it up and remove it from the village or the giants will just return. Right now the aura I cast over it hides it from the giants but the spell will end this evening. I can cast it again if we need more time but I can't live here and keep casting it every day. Will you help us remove it? Many hands make light work."
Torunn has stood in silence for most of the discussion about the artifact. After a while he finally speaks up, "What if we.." he pauses to collect his thoughts. "We can all agree that is artifact bodes nothing good if it was to be collected by the Fire Giants, and from the information my lord has provided, it can cause great destruction. What if we were to try and destroy it? The Fire Giants must have had some method of divination to find it, and if we move it, they can just the same."
Gweldyn taps the artifact and says "Aye! Well it is metal so we could drag it up to the Forge and try and cut it up and then bury bits in different locations - could take a couple of days though?"

Torunn grins, "Cutting is one option, there is something else i could try. From where I come from, we use a fair bit of gunpowder and the power it contains. I am sure i could rig something up with the assistance of my god."
Meanwhile, D.O.R.K, Golemgote and the goblin set to work fixing the pits they dug the previous day. That, and alongside Meiva, work on doing one last check-up round throughout the village, making sure any villagers injured were at least taken care of. Though comforted by her mentor's words, D.O.R.K still behaved more mechanically than normal for a time.

Lukian finally speaks. "I am reticent to destroy the artifact. We were sent here to find it, that is for certain. Perhaps we are to destroy it. Have either of you felt a divine leading to do so?" The elf looks at Devin and Torunn.
"I don't recall being sent to find the artifact. We recieved information that something may happen here and discovered the artifact while trying to figure out what might draw giants here. Now we know what will and we need to keep them from returning. I see no reason for us to collect these artifacts. I've recieved no divine intervention on any of this. So I think the best thing to do is help them get rid of it."
Lukian looks at Devin, his eyes searching and critical. "If you could not hear your mistress directing you here as the next step in this strange quest we have been given, perhaps your path lies elsewhere. I would suggest you petition Mystra for her direction. I would hate for you to work against her will. I, for one, know the Morninglord placed my feet within Triboar to serve his plan for this city, which included finding and hiding the artifact. Perhaps because you do not listen to Mystra," the elf says with a slight chuckle in his throat, "my master, Lathander, used you as an instrument of his own direction." He turns and rests his eyes on Torunn to await his answer.
Torunn thinks for a moment. "As a disciple of Gond, I am always loath to destroy unique creations. But when it has the power to cause the destruction that my God showed me, I believe that destroying, if we can, is the best course of action."
Devin ignores the elf's attempts to goad a reaction from him. Instead he turns his attention to Torunn as he answers Lukian.
"I'm quite interested to see what you can do this powder you speak of. However this plays out we need it dug up first. Darathara do you have manpower to help with this?"
Lukian seems at least mollified by Torunn's response. "I will help excavate the artifact. While doing so, I will be in counsel with my master in hopes that he will shed some light on this dilemma."
Dara Tyra is able to round up some locals and by lunchtime you’ve managed to get the bit of metal free. You can see that is the front piece of part of armour that would have protected the abdomen. Think of one piece of banded armour ‘Lorica segmentata that a 1st century AD Roman legionary would have worn

"Alright, but it needs to be dug up to do any of this. Let's get to it."
Devin will recast the aura spell before the first wears off if needed due to how long it takes to dig up and dispose of the artifact.

I assume we are digging it out then
I think that, we can all agree on.

Devin remarks
"Or perhaps..."
