"I could go for a swim and look, but it is pretty dangerous around here with known enemies in several places let alone the regular wildlife. I'd recommend against going into the water anyway, since the murkiness will make it nearly impossible to see anything, and there are almost certainly dangerous creatures besides the Croconura hiding within it."
Flux doesn't even consider the racial enhancements mentioned by Szayez, as he's had enough genetic manipulation of his aether, but doesn't bother to mention it.

"To be honest, I have no bloody clue what I'm supposed to be doing right now other than getting into an aether collection site that is shut down or at least not communicating with the proper owners. I think something is sucking the aether for bad things, like fiends. Then there is the Consulate taking over the village by the tree which can't be good. No, I'm not having a good day at all!" Buama laughs. "But I'm also not overly upset about it. And I keep forgetting some of you don't breathe at all. And I can't see worth a darn anyway, so my swimming to look for mama laying her eggs is not a good thing. I just need to do something I know how to do before my brain fries without proper output." She laughs again.
She smiles at the snake. "I'm not sure what happened here to Vedalken, but we've been like this a very long time and most of the ideas of why are myths without a lot of proof. At least, that is my opinion though I made a device to breathe water and for the fun of it have been trying to see if I can figure out how to speak our older language which can only be spoken underwater. I can only read it and have no clue if I'm speaking correctly at all underwater."
She tilts her head not really worried about this snake like being checking her out so closely. Actually, not much is going to surprise her at this point after all she's been through in only two weeks maybe less since that tunnel time still seemed off no matter what anyone said.
"It's hard to miss something you never had even if you go seeking it out of curiosity of how the past was."
And with that she probably just said more at one time to anyone other than Elto on this entire trip.

"How long will this take?" Namura said, obviously disgruntled. "Our mission is of the utmost priority, I don't like the idea of getting side tracked." She didn't vocalize her fears: that a tracking mission would rely on her even more heavily than before. But the ranger was terrified that she would be unable to see any tracks.
"But we have no leads on how to get in," she finally sighed, leaning against the tree and holding her head in her hands. Damn the Great Conduit, but it was also the right thing to do. She was supposed to protect this forest from threats, great and small. "And I'd much rather be moving than sitting here. I'll help you, even if we have to go alone. Maybe we'll be able to discover more about this horrible swamp as we find your creature."
Quill, after being silent for all this time, finally spoke up. "I say we do it. We can most likely find this 'Crocanura' of yours, so long as you're helping us. And I do agree with our ranger, scouting the swamp would be a good idea. Two birds with one stone," the Aetherborn said, ignoring the annoyed squawking of Allen on his shoulder.
"How do go about ssssearching for my little wonder?" he rephrases Flux's question. Pondering for a moment, he finally speaks up, "If none of you possssesss gillsss, then I am jussst the el... naga that you sssseek! Transssmutation magic issss my ssssspeciality. Thissss won't be permanent, but will lasst for a full day'sss worth of time, if I have judged the movementss of your ssssun correctly."
Szayez utters an incantation as gills begin to form on each member of the party. Within a few seconds, the transformation is complete, as each party member has their own set of gills. "Gemphora issss her name. She'sss very intriguing... ssort of like a cat. Lero pulls back from the group, touching his gills in complete shock. They flap uncontrollably as he does. "What the... this..." He shudders at the transformation and composes himself, "This isn't permanent, right? One day?"
He checks his pack and finds the remaining salted meat. "I'll go first," he says as he adjusts his goggles. "Let's make this quick."
Lero jumps from the tree alcove and in to the murky water below. Once in, he swims closer to the root system below to begin his search. He holds his breath out of instinct, but the gills continue to pump filtered air into his lungs. How this is possible, he doesn't know. But he's seen stranger things in the last week.
Namura gave the snake creature a nod before diving in after Lero. She was quick to follow, wanting to be close behind and at the front of the party. Her eyes took awhile to adjust to the murky water, and she was unable to spot any tracks. "Traako," she cursed in an unintelligible stream of bubbles.
Not wantin the extra weight to pull Duncan removed his cloak and placed it on the shore, and jumped in. As he began to follow Leo and Namura he thought he heard a sound, like Namura was trying to say something. After some hesitation Duncan focused his thoughts outwardly. PbP Character: Vilk Dusza (The Peak's of Winter's Hold)
The water's are murky, making searching extremely difficult, due to the limited range of vision. Strange lights, shades of green which remind you of the hydras' glow, as well as yellows and oranges, seem to penetrate the murkiness of the water, as they swirl about with varying degrees of strength before disappearing - an act you believe to be from them swimming away from your various positions.
The gills seem to work excellently, as they filter out the water and other particles which reside within the swamp, delivering to your bodies the necessary oxygen or aether they need for energy.
Duncan's telepathic network seems to be a godsend, as you're able to focus your searching efforts due to being able to communicate with each other. Splitting up, you follow the clues Szayez gave in regards to the crocanura's whereabouts. It's difficult to tell the amount of time that has passed since you've been submerged in the water searching for the crocanura. Surely, it's been at least two hours, as the limited range of vision makes the searching process much longer than it normally should be. Beginning your search at the lhaesvinbiir's roots, you begin exploring any crannies, crevasses, or alcoves that could be formed amongst the tree's roots. Nearly all pan out to be empty, or at least vacant of any current residents, judging by the skeletal remains found in some... thankfully or unthankfully.
Lero is the first to notice it... the tang of metal in his nose and along his gills. The scent of blood in the water. Following the scent by means of seeing where it gets stronger and weaker, his eyes pick out the faint silhouette of a monstrous figure, and as he slowly draws forward, he sees it for what it really is: a massive toad, with a tail so long he can't pinpoint the end of it, as it disappears into the murky water. The creature is easily ten feet tall, with a mouth that could swallow him whole. He sees it gorging on the remains of a massive fish, akin to what Namura brought the party just a few hours before for breakfast, though much larger. It doesn't appear to have noticed Lero yet, too busy with its feasting.
Lero has gotten much more used to the gills when the group finally catches up to the Crocanura. This is going to be harder than I thought, he thinks, Any ideas?
He watches the creature from a distance, keeping it in his sights. At some point it needs to return for air, right?
Two options, at least that I can think of, Namura thought to the group, the practice strange and unnatural. We can attempt to knock it unconscious and heal it as soon as we return to the surface, or we can try to get it to chase us.
Lero turns in the water, his head moving slowly to glimpse Namura. Her hair seemed to float out behind her, the aether causing it to glow slightly in the murky water. Even in a swamp, she's beautiful, Lero thinks. The stray thought floats out to the others instinctively. Shit, ummm... I'll take care of it!
He swims forward quickly and pulls the salted meat from a small sack next to him. He waves it around, just in sight of the creature, waiting for it's attention to be on him before turning and swimming as quickly as he can to the alcove on the surface. I hope this works.
Namura swam toward the beast, her shortswords still left strapped across her back. She didn't seem to notice Lero's stray thought, or at least had decided not to worry about it for now. Swimming until she was only five feet away from the Crocanura, she swam with her head bowed, a sign of subservience in most animal cultures. We mean no harm, the elf conveyed through her motions in a small stream of bubbles. Follow us to the surface. Follow us to the Snake Man.
As Lero frantically waves the salted meat, it at least draws the crocanura's attention, as its tongue, at least 10 feet long, lashes out into the water, as if tasting the water for something. Dissatisfied, the tongue quickly retracts into its mouth as it continues to feast on the fish in front of it.
Namura's approach certainly grabs the crocanura's attention, as it warily watches her come closer and closer. Still, the crocanura does nothing, only eyeing her with its four eyes. Its tongue flickers out, gently brushing against her arm, before returning to its mouth, as if testing her. It would seem that her communication did little to draw the crocanura away from its meal.
Namura notes that the creature is certainly tame, or at least not aggressive towards any of you, and has no intentions of injuring any of you at the moment. The crocanura is content, perhaps a little happy at how much food it has found, and has no immediate needs to be met, besides its seemingly unending hunger. If Szayez's words are true, then Namura would know that such quick growth is unheard of amongst any species she is aware of throughout all of Kaladesh, which makes the hypothesis that magic affects the creature certainly more plausible.
The fish is quickly disappearing, however, as its large mouth rends large chunks of flesh from the fish, causing the surrounding water to turn crimson red, as everything surrounding you appears in various shades of red as well.
The crocanura shows no sign of even listening to Namura, as it continues to feed on the fish. After a few seconds, it opens it gaping maw wide, sucking the fish into its mouth, and with a few flicks of its tail, begins barreling towards the surface of the water at incredible speed.
