Lero swims after, trying to keep up with the massive creature. They can't lose sight of it now... it might be too long before they're able to find it again.
Flux, who had decided against going into the lake up until this point, deciding that organising the points searched in a mental map so as to improve the groups efficiency had been a better task than potentially searching the same areas as well, walks calmly into the lake as soon as the Crocanura starts heading towards the surface. They start swimming to the other side of where they estimate the Crocanura will surface, hoping to think of a way to spook it towards shore as they swim.

Flux's estimate is pretty precise, as a large spray of water accompanies the massive crocanura when it surfaces, just forty feet away from his location. It looks around for a brief few seconds, seeming to orient itself, and then turns, swimming towards a large cluster of roots which branch off at a fair distance from the lhaesvinbiir. The direction it is travelling does not put it any closer to Flux's current position, and the speed which it swims easily outmatches those of the party [swim speed of 30 ft.], though it remains above water and easily within sight for the time being, as those beneath begin to surface, following its long tail.
A voice projects into your minds, and you recognize it immediately as Szayez's, who seemed to have noticed his pet's ascent from the water. "Gemphora, my darling! Pleassssse, come back to your father. Come back to Szayez." It would seem that the crocanura is amongst the receivers of his telepathic message, as it quickly comes to a stop and circles around, though it does not move. Seeing this, Szayez moves into the water, his long tail acting as a natural propellant, allowing him to slither gracefully through the water towards her.
[Everyone else can easily reach the crocanura before Szayez, allowing each of you to post if you would like.]
We can't just tread water, the job is still not done, Namura thought back to Lero as she swam after the crocanura, among the first to catch up to it. I mean no harm, she motioned to it before grappling it and holding on as tightly as she could. If it intended to swim away again, she would hopefully be able to hold on.
Quill moves to help form a perimeter around the crocanura, in the event the beast tries to escape. I will be ready should it try to escape, Quill thought to the party as a whole, moving into a gap where there was no party member present.
Catching up, Szayez moved closely to the crocanura, putting his head against the crocanura's as their long tails intertwine with each other's. This continues for a minute before he moves his head away and addresses the group telepathically, "She isss fine and well. She got very excited about the sswamp, which isssss why she ran off. Turnss out she hassss a whole cluster of eggsss that she wants to show ussss. Very proud of her work, Gemphora isssss."
With that sent, both he and Gemphora submerge underwater, and you're quick to follow suit behind them. They swim deep to the bottom of the lake, following a narrow ravine along the bottom. Gemphora's tail kicks up considerable amounts of sludge and mud, making vision especially difficult. Szayez's voice comes inside of your minds, helping to guide and direct you all, allowing you to follow behind until the group comes to a narrow opening which both Gemphora and Szayez have already swam through. The tunnel goes back a ways, twisting and turning in strange directions, and you come to immediately recognize it as a wurm tunnel, akin to what you've recently spent a considerable amount of time in. Cautious and wary, you proceed forward, until the tunnel opens up into a larger cavern, perhaps fifty feet tall and at least 200 feet in diameter, though some parts of the cavern are obscured, making the size of the cave difficult to judge from the water's edge. The water quickly gives way to air you surface, and you note that fluorescent mushrooms and glowing crystals dot the ground of the cavern, painting the cave in a variety of colors.
Gemphora gives off a variety of croaks and grunts as it makes its way through a flattened section of group, which Namura interprets as the crocanura wanting the group to follow. Szayez confirms this, as he follows behind Gemphora. The "path" continues for maybe thirty feet, rounding a large stalagmite, until you see a large cluster of eggs, all linked together by a clear membrane, with dozens of black dots, the sizes of a fist, scattered throughout. Szayez smiles widely as he exclaims, "How beautiful it isss. Ssoon, her ssspeciesssss will be introduced to thisss wonderful environment, allowing them to ssswim and eat freely."
"Have you, er, considered the consequences of that? Because there are consequences to introducing species to new environments. Especially if said species doesn't have a predator in the new environment."
Flux, upon hearing that the snake-man plans to leave the young in these swamps, immediately becomes suspicious of him - has he no wisdom, or does he simply not care? Flux reaches into their satchel, ready in case the conversation comes to blows.
Lero could care less for the outcome of introducing the crocanura to the swamp. Instead he explores deeper into the cavern, giving the eggs a wide berth as he does.
"Another wurm tunnel," he says, "Namura... can you sense any danger?" His hand is on his rapier as he says this.
"Flux is right," Namura furrowed her brow. "What of the fish who belong here? The fish she and her offspring coils hunt to extinction or displace." She could feel the energy emanating from her teammates, taught with nerves like string of her bow. They were all on high alert, unsure of how exactly this would go down.
'I don't want to close my eyes for a full minute,' she thought to Lero, hoping Duncan's whatever-it-was was still in effect. She didn't want Szayez to hear this particular conversation. 'To sense danger like that would mean I would be basically deaf and blind for too long. A lot of bad can happen in 60 seconds.'
He sighs with a guttural hiss, as if he'd been taken off of a high perch and placed on the ground, and hangs his head low. "Yessss.... I am aware. Forgive me... but none of you are parentssss, ssso you cannot underssstand the joy of ssseeing your child ssssucceed in ssssuch a manner. I had not intended for her to lay eggsss sssso ssssoon... not until I had done a full analyssssiss of the sssswamp denizensss, sseeing where she might fit in the hierarchy of thesssse ssssspeciesss. I have only been in thisss sswamp for a few daysss now, but I have certainly sssseen creaturessss ssstronger than my crocanuri. The hydra sssseemss to be the "king" of the swamp, from my essstimationsss, and they certainly do run wild here. They would keep the crocanuri in check, but they wouldn't be able to drive them to extinction due to the number of eggssss they lay at a time."
"There are a large variety of fish in thiss ssswamp ass well." he adds. "Ssssome of the sssspeciess likewisssse lay large amountsss of eggssss. The massssssesss of mana certainly accelerate growth here in thiss foressst... essspecially in thisss ssswamp. Can you not sssssee it? Can you not feel it?" It permeatessss the air. Changesss the environment. The ssssight is intoxicating. Few placesss rival ssssuch beauty in Ravnica." He eyes seem to swirl in endless shades of blue of green as he looks around the cavern.
Lero, as you listen to his words and look around, you too begin to see the colors of which Szayez speaks: the flow of aether and mana. Shades of blue and green swirl all around you, forming complex patterns as the colors twist and spiral, distinct enough to appear as symbols that constantly shift and change. As you watch these symbols appear and disappear, you begin to notice patterns amongst the symbols, something akin to letters in an alphabet.
Lero waves his hand in front of him as if attempting to grab hold of something. "The aether... it's moving and flowing around us as if it has a mind of its own."
Lero takes a few steps back and looks over to the others, "Don't you see it!? It's all around us..." He's never actually felt the aether... seen the aether as he does at this moment. Others that have been able to manipulate it at a whim always fascinated him in a way, but he never thought he'd get to experience it. Is this how they see the world?
"It's almost as if the aether is talking... through symbols and... characters. I don't understand it though..."
"What have you done to him?" Namura's grip tightened around her still sheathed swords as she addressed Szayez. Lero's words awoke memories of her own experiences with the Aether as a cub, but she didn't trust the snake man. Why now, why here? It all seemed too convenient, and their pirate was uncharacteristically awestruck. "What are you planning?"
"No Namura," he takes a few steps closer to her, hand raised, "I mean... maybe. I don't know. But... I don't want it to stop. I've never seen the world this way, and I don't want it to end."
His eyes hover on Namura for an extended period of time before he says, "The aether is attracted to you... like moths to a flame. I think it's just new to me. I've never seen it like this before. Even the mushrooms," he gestures to the mushrooms in the cavern, "are absorbing and exhaling the aether. It's like... I don't know. A living thing that provides life to everything..."
Namura's insinuation or something sinister from him either goes completely over his head or he chooses to ignore it, but his scaled eyebrows only furrow in contemplation. "Planning?" his voice hisses into your minds. "I'm planning on letting Gemphora and her children sssstay! Probably, at leasst. Even with the accelerated growth from the ssssswathesss of mana, they'll ssstill take approximately ssix days to hatch into sssssmall tadpolesssss, which meanss that asss I continue to ressssearch the area, and if I come to a negative conclusion of their impact on the ssswamp's ecosssysstem, then I'll terminate her eggssss and make sssome adjustmentssss to her ssso she'll fit more nicely."
"With her tame attitude, natural intelligence, and curiouss perssspective of her ssssurroundingss, I thought she and her future children would make a welcome addition to the sssswampfolk who live here too."
"Ah! You ssssee the flow of mana ass well? It'sss most peculiar here. I've never seen the mana itssself form sssymbols like thissss, though Ravnica hass ssssomething sssimilar. Ravnica had ssssuch a sssspell weaved into the very fiber of the city that provided order and sssstability amongsssst the variousss factionssss, called the Guildpact. Though the ssssymbolsss sssseen there are very different than thossse here."
His mouth opens wide in a broad smile. "You all have played your role nicely in helping me find Gemphora, and I am eternally in your debt. I do believe I owe you a ssspecial gift, if I recall. Have you decided on the minor alteration you would like me to make for you?"
"I hope you take great care in ensuring that they don't disrupt the natural cycle too much. Lero, do you think you could draw those symbols for me, either now or later? As for alterations, I'm done with those, thank you."
Flux pulls out a book, opening to a blank page, and then gets a pen out of their satchel as well, walking over to near Lero's position.

Lero grabs the book and pen and quickly sketches the symbols he sees, "They're amazing... like a language into their own." His eyes dart around, and when he sees something new appear through the aether, he draws that as well. After a few moments, his eyes narrow. "No... no... It's..."
He looks over to Szayez, "I want this to continue. That's what I want... it's all I want."
Quill shifted uneasily as Szayez reminded him of the agreement. "As for me... I know that the elves of Vahadar are capable of manipulating some form of mana into a minor spell of sorts. I was never really able to master that sort of thing until I received some help. If I may ask, could you grant me the ability to shift the Aether and mana of the world with my own power, rather than what I've borrowed?"
"Done with alterationsss?" Szayez's voice enters Flux's mind. "Now therein liesss a ssssstory. I will not force the glory of the Ssssimic upon thossse unwilling." He ponders for a moment, before procuring an odd sphere, with swirls etched across the surface of it. In the center lies a symbol, similar in fashion to a wave forming into a tree.

The voice of Szayez proceeds to enter Lero's mind next. "I'm afraid sssuch a ssssight doess not linger for mosssst. Only a rare few are blesssssed with the sssight, ass I am. It isss a marvel that you were able to sssee asss I do at all. He looks Lero over for a brief moment, noting the goggles he wears. "Perhapsss inssstead you would like the gift to ssssee in the dark, asss if it were day?"
"Yessss, aetherborn," his voice hisses into Quill's mind, as if through his ear, "that won't be a problem at all. I already have the proper componentsss needed for that." He pulls out a clear, membranous sack, no larger than a plum, and begins uttering words. Swirls of color begin to form within the sac, as it taking on the form of an ever-shifting rainbow of colors, glowing almost to the brightness of a torch. After a minute, he hands it over to you, and says, "Eat it. You will absssorb the mana within, which will manifessst and change you after you have resssted for awhile."

Quill, using Duncan's telepathic network to learn locations, follows suit, making an attempt to cut the creature off and direct it towards the Naga.

Lero holds back until Szayez passes him.
We did our part. Now lets watch to see how this plays out. Try to keep up with them if you can. Lero's thoughts flow through to the others.
Once Szayez passes, he attempts to follow close behind.
