Reverie Forestgleam—Human Paladin Level 5 in Frontier City of Nunkreet Extremely busy and busy as ever recently, but I will trying to catch up as much as I can
Reverie's strike misses. (But she does not take any damage from the demon's aura.)
Jack gets a hold of the door, and makes a loud grunt as he pulls against it with his feet braced on the wall. The door opening isn't getting any wider, but Jack is keeping it from closing.
(Froskan is up, and then Trim's action will resolve.)

After getting the door open, you see a 10' by 15' alcove where the demon was standing guard. There is a stone slab where it was sleeping, covered by a sickly slime and maggots. A few levers are on the wall, with writing to indicate which one opens the door, which one to pull after the Black Pudding was released, etc.
The back of the alcove leads to a corridor, which continues deeper into the earth.
To the side of the alcove are the remains of some other adventurers. Most of their equipment (and body parts) are in tatters from the Black Pudding's acid. There are two items in almost pristine condition: splint armor and a boomerang.
(OOC: I assume Jack will grab the boomerang. And Reverie is the only one with the STR and proficiency to use splint mail. The question is, are they going to equip it right away without identifying it first, or will they wait until this adventure is over?)

Jack looks at the new boomerang, and puts it in his magic bag (unless someone wants it...?). “I already have one. But, we should still make sure it's safe to use. However, Armor can save lives, Reverie. I recommend you put it on.”
"I can use the rest later. I have a healing potion and magic. I will be all right." Reverie looks back at Jack for a moment and then looks at the splint armor, casting Detect Magic if there is anything seem off.

Reverie Forestgleam—Human Paladin Level 5 in Frontier City of Nunkreet Extremely busy and busy as ever recently, but I will trying to catch up as much as I can
(OOC: Reverie already expects that the armor is magical, since it doesn't show any acid damage. All the other clothing, armor, and weapons (other than Jack's new boomerang) that were piled up in the corner of the room were almost completely dissolved by the Black Pudding's acid.
But there is always a slight chance that it has cursed magic. Detect Magic (and Identify) won't reveal that. You'd have to put it on, to find out. Your choice, if you'd rather wait for a safer setting to try the armor.
Keep in mind that Reverie's current chain mail has a -1 modifier from the earlier acid attack.)

The group takes a short rest in the alcove. The corridor (a bit less than 10' wide) goes 40' east before curving north. You can't see beyond there, but someone in your group is always keeping an eye to make sure nothing creeps up on you. You also pull the lever that closes the secret door (after making sure that you can open it again).
(For hit dice: Trim and Isk are down 4 points, so they have the option. Reverie is at 12 out of 36 hp. Remember to roll one die at a time, until you decide to stop. That might mean a lot of editing of your post, sorry.
Jack: Looks at his new boomerang, but leaves it in the bag of holding. The weapon itself is made of griffon bone and engraved in runes of gold and platinum. It has an elaborate sheath/carrying case of griffon "leather" and feathers.
Trimyrai: Recovers the 2 arrows out of the demon corpse, but the earlier arrows against the black pudding are acid mush.
Reverie: The splint armor was not cursed. but it required attunement. After some investigation, she realizes that she has resistance to necrotic damage. The item has been added to your inventory.)

(Reverie: You can continue rolling hit dice, one at a time, until you are satisfied. I will push onwards, but you still have the option to use more of your 3 remaining hit dice, until the next combat.)
After the short rest (1 hour), the party marches east into the rough hewn corridor. (It is starting to resemble a circular animal-burrowing passage, and less like a rectangular corridor.) The passage goes 40' east, then gradually curves northward.
The passage goes 100' north. There are 3 openings to larger chambers: one at the end of the passage (100' north), another halfway (50' on the west side), and one at your current location (on the east side of the passage). The two chambers further north show artificial lighting, a mix of steady magic light and flickering torches. You won't be able to see what is inside those chambers before entering. (There are earthen walls blocking your sight, kind of like at public swimming pool that have door-less locker areas.)
The chamber just to your east has very faint lighting from overhead, like cracks of sunlight breaking through the ceiling. You don't hear any movement inside. Party members with darkvision don't notice any monsters or movement, but won't be able to see more without better lighting.
(If you go inside, with Froskan's lantern opened up, make an Investigation and a Nature check.)

Frostbite CON save vs. DC 14: 18 or take cold damage: 5
(Actually, that CON save is for Froskan to resist the Rotting Presence at the start of his turn. This should be the demon's roll: 12 )
The demon takes 2 damage from the cold spray (has resistance), but then takes an arrow from Trim for 6.
The demon struggles to close the door, but your group is able to overwhelm it. (It was down to 2 hp, it was a goner.)
